Calendar Events / Announcements '05 I / Roger Davis on McCloud today
« on: March 10, 2005, 05:32:18 PM »
A friend let me know that Roger Davis' 1973 McCloud episode "Butch Cassidy Rides Again" will air on WGN today (Thursday) at 8 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. Pacific.  Check your local listings for the time in your area.  Here's a description from Comcast--

A gang of doddering, Western-style outlaws is loose, holding up everything from banks to commuter trains.

RD aged.  And doddering.  :)

If setting your VCR, record for 2 hours.

I know it must be hard to choose the flubbed lines. I personally have never seen them. I have only read about them which was why it was hard for me to find them on tape.

Here's a good place to get help in finding them, DStoDA-- TVTome's Goofs and Nitpicks Guide.

THE EYES HAVE IT... Burke Devlin once became impatient with Dr. Woodard for not voicing his suspicions about a blood sample he'd examined under his microscope. The disgruntled Burke blurted, "All vou can do is sit there staring into that microphone!"

That didn't sound right to me but since no one else mentioned it I hesitated to say anything.  However, since TVTome provides the ep number for the microphone/microscope blooper (#242) I took a peek at the scene, and what Burke says to Woodard is:

"Maybe something, like a blood sample, when you examine it under the microphone, it doesn't show any mystery at all."

(That makes perfect sense.  Yeah.  ::))

Sorry!  But it's certainly not your fault that the webmaster misquoted the line.   :-

Now that you mention it, I can't recall what, if anything, was ever said about Willie's family.

This is iffy because Jason shared his friend's backstory off-camera :(, and he may have exaggerated the details anyway to gain Burke's sympathy, but Burke's response to hearing about Willie's past was something like, "He hated his mother and he carried a security blanket until he was 19."  Of course Burke was being sarcastic, but I think the implication was that Willie had a terribly sad relationship with his mother.  But we do know for sure that Willie already had a police record when he arrived in Collinsport.

I don't know if it's the same for Comcast customers outside of Southern California, but clicking the Info button on my remote brings up the following Program Information for NBC's "Passions"--

Perhaps the wildest soap since "Dark Shadows" takes place in the seldom harmonious Harmony.

DS wild?  [hdscrt]

As for the festively autumnal missiles, their launching is ... sorry, their inceasing altitude is what's supposed to happen and whatnot.    So there.

MagnusTrask,

You do understand that the moderators read every post on the forums, right?  The attempts at humor in some (though definitely not all) of your recent posts such as this one and statements made in some exiled posts in which you've admitted to not contributing to the discussion are not appreciated by the mods.

Can anyone tell me how to find the poem with the line "Have some Madeira, my dear".  I saw Tony Randall recite it once and it was such a joy.  It seems to fit Nickolas Blair's style.

"Have Some Madeira, M'Dear" lyrics

A snake in the grass-- yep, that's Nicky Blair.

... quoting ideally should be done with the author's permission, though it's good that you acknowledged the source and that there's a link to [the] site.  However, the source page is often best ...

... everyone can consider this a reminder.  :)

Copying usually isn't a problem that the mods have to deal with, but in the past several days a message board, an e-list, and a personal website have contained information taken verbatim from posts appearing on DS Forums.  The forum cousins didn't credit the original poster, provide links, nor obtain the permission of the 3 different authors.

To avoid getting into a situation in which you receive a warning from the forum mods for copying, if you're providing information here or elsewhere PLEASE use your own words as much as possible and generously credit your sources.  If you must quote someone, obtain their permission.  But if the information you're providing isn't widely available and you're not giving any credit for it, you are committing online plagiarism.

it does indeed sound as if they're going for something that looks a lot more like the X Files than Night Stalker (I personally thought the reputed resemblance between the two series was greatly exaggerated).

Really?  I think nearly every episode of Night Stalker contains themes that are familiar to the X-Files audience.  I don't want to wander too far off topic, but citing NS's "The Vampire" and X-Files' "3" as examples, they're both set in L.A. and feature lady vampires who use sex to attract their victims, and the finales involve fire.
