So that IS the parking lot just off the Irving estate then?

Yes.

Very!

I like that you chose a bland cheese for him.  ;)

Isn't it unusual that reviews of an entire series are appearing in print before most of the public has had a chance to see a single episode?  I don't recall seeing anything like this before (all 10 eps were screened for the press, which the last 2 reviewers have made abundantly clear).  I feel like there are no surprises left in store for me.   :-

This LA Times reviewer (Sept. 7) goes so far as to call most of the characters "so absurdly unlikable."  But she has high praise for Alexander and Selby, two pros who provide "the most interesting and graceful storyline."

I love this review!  Check it out here:
The dark side of 'Love,' HBO's 'Tell Me You Love Me' is too sour to bear.

Does anyone know why Scifi is talking about early DS?

Because Vol. 1 of The Beginning eps is now available in stores and Vol. 2 will follow next month.

No problem, Mark.  Ask me for directions in 8 years and you'll see my eyes glaze over.

I'm at a loss too.  The Forums have experienced slow times, but when I've seen a white screen it was accompanied by an error message.  Without knowing what you've got running, I can only suggest that you contact your provider to ask why you're experiencing very long lag times.  Sorry.

I really like this map by John in NC using the same Google image.

The first vertical line leading from the paved road is a trail and the rest is through woods.

I'll make an aerial composite of the site and label it.

John in NC and I remember being closer to the Hudson and the RR.  We parked near the carriage house/stables and caught the trail further up the road (in the direction of the bowling alley, which is off your map and behind the mansion), walked in maybe a 1/4 of a mile, headed southwest until we came to the chain link fence and followed it to the right until we saw the ruins, which (as I recall) put them about halfway down your map on the left side.

Now Barnabas can go retrieve the notebook! No, says Cousin B, Carolyn will get the notebook, using her womanly charms on Tony Peterson to get his keys and the notebook.(I don't understand why; is this a test? It would be so much easier for Barn to get it himself.)
Barnabas couldn't get the notebook because he was never invited to Tony's office, and was never there. Being a vampire, Barnabas can't just go anyplace until he's invited.

Barnabas doesn't say he can't get the notebook; he says, "I won't get it."

And 3 nights earlier he was prepared to go there himself.  In #358, as Barnabas was preparing to leave, Carolyn asked where he was going and he replied, "To Peterson's office.  Do you think a little black box can stop me?"  But Carolyn pointed out that it was almost dawn, and Barnabas agreed that there wasn't enough time so he assigned the task to her, telling her to use her feminine wiles on Peterson (as he does again in the ep for this topic), and adding, "... It won't be hard for you to do what you must do.  I've thought of an alternative solution to Hoffman."

I wonder if he might have given the explanation here (#358), perhaps saying that while she works on getting the notebook, he can focus on carrying out his new plan to deal with Julia.  (It was the following night that he performed the ritual.)

Her NY Times obituary:

Madeleine L’Engle, Children’s Writer, Is Dead

L’Engle has occasionally been the object of discussion here as the author of the children's book "A Wrinkle in Time" and as the wife of Hugh Franklin (Liz's attorney and the senior partner of Garner & Garner).

Thanks, Kosmo.

JosettebyCandlelight, one of our newest members, passed along that Rob Yasinac's Spratt House page has been updated to include some FABULOUS photos of "the Old House," including a postcard image of the actual front (South side) of the house (!!!) that shows the steps and fountain that remain as ruins on the Lyndhurst property.

I took these photos on 8/18/07:
