Ok, now for some obscure song references....lol ;)

Quentin - "You and Me and The Bottle Makes Three Tonight"  _Big Bad Voodoo Daddy_

<snip>

Lady Hampshire "Minnie The Moocher" as sung by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (or if you'd rather listen to the Cab Calloway version, you can pretend I don't know who he is<G>)

<snip>

Geez, can't ya guess what I've been listening to tonight? And seriously, how many of y'all have heard of this music???  ?!?

LOL! I must be the only one on the planet still listening to swing music.

ElizabethGrayson,

A member of BBVD is a good friend, and I bet he'll be tickled when he hears about the DS associations you came up with for their songs. ;)

Calendar Events / Announcements '02 I / DS actors on Bravo Tuesday
« on: June 04, 2002, 06:37:32 AM »
Beverly Atkinson plays an addict on Hill Street Blues tomorrow (Tuesday) at 4 p.m. on the West Coast (7 p.m. in the East).  Her DS role (as Tom's nurse at the Collinsport hospital) was small, but she got to stretch her acting chops in this recurring role.  She's in another HSB ep on Thursday at 9 a.m. Pac./12 noon East.

Mitch Ryan appears on St. Elsewhere, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time/1 p.m. Eastern.

Both shows are on Bravo.

Thanks, Kosmo!

Loved EVERYTHING in your 2 chapters, Mark!  We've heard promises of a new novel centering on Quentin for so long, so thank you for giving us one at last!  It's also good to see Julia figuring prominently, at least so far; it's hard to imagine anything happening at Collinwood during that time period without her involvement.

Looking forward to more! :D

WOW !!!
what a photo!  That guy makes barnabas look like a ken doll.

LOL!

Since I've been asked about it, I decided I should probably explain here too why the personal situation described in this thread doesn't violate the forum guideline (#7) that pertains to gossip.  It has always been this board's policy to not contribute to the spreading of gossip or to invade any star's privacy, but in this case the incident is a matter of public record, it has been dissected by every form of media, and it's described in detail in any biography one might pick up about Walter Wanger and most of Joan Bennett's too.

She is really an extremely attractive woman and if she'd had the right material I think she could have had a bigger film reputation than she has.

I agree!  I'm also a big fan of (as Luciaphil has called her) La Bennett.

Here's the picture from "Disraeli" that Entertainment Weekly included in their pre-Oscar edition.  The movie was made in 1929, so she was 19??!!

Bizarre was Fritz Lang's stock in trade.  The more twisted and tormented the characters were, the better he liked it, apparently.  Watch "The Blue Angel" some time.

"The Blue Angel" was Fritz Lang's? ?!?

Yes there are other shows from that period but can you tell me where their forum is on the internet with 60 pages of information and the DS FAQ page is another amazing example of dedication.  DS was still done under special circumstances compared to all of the other shows. What is the point of analyzing the show?  Addams family? Batman? Gilligans island? Mary Tyler Moore? Dick VanDyke? ...Whatever!  DS kicks their butt everytime in everyway. (period)

When VantageNet was our host, the posting board that followed behind us in the entertainment category in terms of traffic was called The Wonderfulness of I Spy-- a board dedicated to the show that ran from '65 to '68.  I've also seen message boards and websites for The Avengers, which ran from '61 to '69 and had a revival series (The New Avengers), and was brought back recently as a movie (but I'm not bitter ;)); there are also posting boards for Man from U.N.C.L.E., which ran from '64 to '68 and had a Return of... in '83.  Those are the ones that come to mind cuz they were personal favorites. :D

I don't know much about the production circumstances of the others, but I've heard Patrick Macnee speak about similar experiences, particularly in the early years of Avengers, to what we know about the making of DS.

I would like to know if anyone else out there has done some strange things over the years because of watching the show.

Welllllll...

Does it count if everybody else refers to the structure in my backyard as the gazebo but I insist on calling it the gaZAbo?  And my hubby says foy-er but I pronounce it foy-A?  Or when guests are in my home, they're invited not into the family room but the drawing room, and my den is suddenly the study?

Once, while sitting at a large table with friends we all shouted out in unison (doing our best Philip imitations), "I'm - just - plain - scared!"  (You all know who you are!!!)  Of course we also named our homes by filling in the blank in ___wood with our last names.  When one friend had a new home under construction, the one she lived in until the other was completed became known as the Old House (of course!).

But I guess as long as when real life gets me down I don't start looking for a solution by asking myself, "What would Angelique do?" I'm still just teetering on the edge. ;)

Out of curiosity when was the announcement made that it would not be on today.

A few days ago I noticed they had started running an ad advertising today's Farscape marathon, but if you FF through the commercials you would've missed it.

Their schedule at www.scifi.com/schedulebot is your best bet.  Just scroll down, then type Dark Shadows into the search engine.  Right now it's available through the end of June, and they should be adding July soon.

Why couldn't those@###@ people at Sci-Fi have made an announcement saying Dark Shadows will not be seen today but will return to its regularly scheduled time on Monday. All over America people are thinking their cable or satellite or VCR is broken or that SC-FI cancelled it without notice. I am boiling mad. Paul >:(

You poor thing.  :(

Imagine my astonishment to discover that a local herb farm (a REAL farm, not a chain of nurseries) actually carries Aconite (variously referred to as Monkshood, Nightshade, and Wolfsbane) in pots, ready for the garden!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG.  Hopefully you'll tell us they're clearly marked POISON and kept in a special section where no one can inadvertently get near them.  I wouldn't even want to touch any part of them!

("The Coven"... hee hee!!)
