I think she relished the movie more than the show, since that was more her bag.

Though her part in HoDS wasn't all that big, and it meant working entirely under DC's direction (see above post ).  It was during the filming that we got the well-known anecdote, "Aren't you Joan Bennett?"  "I used to be."

Is this the first time we learn that the children live with a Mrs. Filmore?

I think all you could do before was read between the lines about why Mrs. Filmore is receiving large weekly payments from the Collinses that are secretly hand-delivered by Beth (#707 & #729).

I'm guessing it was to set up the Sunset Boulevard-ish scene with Jenny's "I'm coming to kill you" closeup.  As if the audience had any doubt by now that Jenny is insane.

Was Marie wearing a wig when she played Jenny?  I thought she was one of the few actresses who didn't wear hairpieces, but I could be wrong.  False lashes for days, though.

It's interesting that the Old House is filled with portraits of females, but portraits of the male ancestors seem to predominate at Collinwood. Does that make Collinwood masculine and the Old House feminine?
