**** CHRIS PENNOCK STARS IN PLAY THIS WEEKEND
**** MARIE WALLACE GUESTS IN UPCOMING EPISODE OF HULU TV SERIES
**** JERRY LACY IN INDEPENDENT FILM DUE THIS YEAR

SHADOWGRAM OFFICIAL DARK SHADOWS NEWS ONLINE UPDATE # 377
March 4. 2016

Hello, Dark Shadows Fan,

ShadowGram (SG), The Official Newsletter & News Source for Dark Shadows (DS), provides the following news in this ShadowGram Official Dark Shadows News Online Update "Bulletin."

**** CHRIS PENNOCK IN THE INTENSE PLAY “THIRD” THIS WEEKEND

CHRIS (Jeb, Cyrus/John, Sebastian, Gabriel) enthusiastically invites fans in the Los Angeles area to see him as “Jack Jameson” in the play THIRD this weekend – Sat.-Sun., March 5-6, at the Actors Workout Studio in North Hollywood. Performances are Sat. at 8:00 and Sun. matinee at 3:00.

He hopes fans will come: “THIRD is a superb play by the great Wendy Wasserstein….family, academia, politics, war and peace, the tragedy of Alzheimers, and ultimately LOVE! You will enjoy it!”

Chris also shares a scary experience: He was in the play on opening night 2-13. But as he arrived at the theater the next day, his Prius car was severely rear-ended by another car, destroying both vehicles. Chris was taken by ambulance to the hospital with “blood everywhere and a raging headache” after being “thrown into the next seat.” Chris suffered a “mild concussion and laceration” on his forehead with some “back and hip injuries…. They found my understudy (DS’ LISA EICHARDS’ husband) Steve Mandillo walking his dogs and he made it (to the theatre) in time for the big scene in the second act.” Chris adds, “Now, 2 weeks later, I’m still limping around…but I will be BACK on stage Saturday night, March 5!”

LA Times review 2-25: “An ardently feminist college professor accuses a male student of plagiarism, (and) engages in prejudice of the grossest stripe, almost destroying a young life in the process.” THIRD is “a well-paced production” presenting “the pure pleasure” of the play’s message: “A clarion warning against ideological extremism that is particularly apropos now, when any blunder into political incorrectness, however unwitting, can engender viral and virulent outrage.” Chris (and Steve Mandillo) portray the professor’s father, “an appropriately King Lear-like figure slipping into dementia.”

The Actors Workout Studio is at 4735 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA.
Tickets are $20. Info: (800) 838-3006 or third.brownpapertickets.com

Chris was in a previous production of THIRD in late Oct., 2015, at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.

**** MARIE WALLACE GUESTS ON HULU TV SERIES “DIFFICULT PEOPLE”

MARIE (Eve, Mad Jenny, Megan Todd) tells SG she recently “filmed a part in the Hulu series DIFFICULT PEOPLE, produced by Amy Poehler and written by Julie Klausner and starring Julie and Billy Eichner. My character’s name, of all things, is ‘Marie!’ I’m in Episode #210, called ‘High Alert.’ It’s the last show of their second season, so look for it on HULU this summer.” She notes that “Marie” wears elegant clothing, including a glamorous floor-length red dress and fur coat. She adds “Many of my friends have told me it’s their favorite show, so if you haven’t already seen it, go to it!”

Hulu.com summary: “Life is really tough for Julie and Billy, two 30-something aspiring comics living and working in New York City. While their friends and acquaintances move on to find success and love, they continue to struggle with careers and relationships, getting more bitter by the day.” The series’ premise also is described: “As best friends living in NYC, their typical, irreverent behavior lands them in some very awkward situations.”

**** JERRY LACY IN NEW FANTASY / ADVENTURE MOVIE

JERRY (Tony Peterson, Rev. Trask, Gregory Trask, Lamar Trask) has recently been filming scenes for the new independent movie THE NINGYO. He portrays “H. Prestor Sealous” in the fantasy adventure due out this year.

Co-Creator/Director Miguel Ortega and Production Designer Tran Ma describe: “A 1909 period film pilot about ‘cryptozoology.’ The search for mythological or unproven creatures. A Faustian tale about losing oneself in the process of achieving our goals.

“Professor Marlowe finds a piece of a map pointing to the place where the Ningyo, a mythical Japanese creature, could be found. The legend claims whomever consumes its flesh will attain remarkable longevity. He presents the project to his peers, who mock and dismiss him as a fraud. He decides to risk everything and go after the Ningyo on his own in hopes to bring to light what could be one of the greatest contributions to science. What he could not anticipate is that, in his search, he is confronted with a choice that puts the very foundations of his morality to the test.”

**** DARK SHADOWS 50th  - SPECIAL NEW OFFICIAL MERCHANDISE

“Several new DS collectibles are coming soon for the Golden Anniversary.

---- “Debuting at the Year #50 Celebration in Tarrytown is a full-color, retro 1960s-style metal DS lunchbox, designed to look like it was produced back when the show first aired on ABC from 1966-1971. (Interestingly enough, although often falsely reported as existing, such a lunch box never was issued originally.)

“Of course, most fans are well beyond their taking-lunch-to-school days, but this box is attractive and collectible. It has depictions of Barnabas, Quentin, Angelique, Josette, the werewolf, Collinwood, and The Old House. It also can be used to hold keepsakes and as a nice shelf memento.”

---- “Also coming is a limited edition T-shirt with a new DS design.

---- “In the meantime, the original 1969 Top 20 record album ‘The Original Music from Dark Shadows’ by The Robert Cobert Orchestra, with Jonathan Frid and David Selby, is being re-issued on high-quality purple swirl vinyl as a special national Record Store Day release.

“The album reproduces the authentic album artwork, complete with the double-sided Barnabas and Quentin poster insert. This Collector's Item will be available only at authorized local record stores throughout the U.S. on Saturday, April 16, 2016.

“Fans should check their local, independent record store merchants to purchase the album on that date and to reserve copies.”

**** NEW YEAR UPDATE FROM MARCY ROBIN – SHADOWGRAM
**** NOTE REGARDING DS FESTIVAL’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

SHADOWGRAM OFFICIAL DARK SHADOWS NEWS ONLINE UPDATE  # 373
February 1. 2016

Hello, Dark Shadows Fan,

**** UPDATE MESSAGE FROM SHADOWGRAM’S MARCY ROBIN

It’s been several weeks since the last SG DS News Online Update and I’ve been silent during that time. I appreciate everyone’s patience and messages of concern and now explain why.

In the pre-dawn hours of a morning in late December, an accidental electrical fire (no way of knowing there was any danger) erupted in the garage of my home. It consumed the garage, which is attached to my house. The blaze destroyed virtually everything inside the garage (no cars were kept there).

Thankfully, the local fire station is very close to my home. I’d barely hung up on my 911 phone call when the firefighters and local sheriffs began arriving. Their wonderful efforts contained the blaze to the garage building itself. However, smoke permeated the entire house and all its contents, making it uninhabitable until the smoke damage and repairs can be fully cleaned, cleared, and completed.

I am most thankful that no one – including our 4 cats - was hurt. I also deeply appreciate the kindness and support from those superb first responders, then and since that terrible morning. However, we were (and have been) very shaken up and are continuing to cope with all aspects of the fire and its aftermath.

The insurance company was “on top of” things from the first call we made to report the fire – in fact, it was still burning when we called. Insurance personnel quickly arranged temporary housing for us (and also boarding the 4 cats at the veterinary hospital). Insurance also soon brought in the various appropriate companies to assess all the damage, clean out debris, determine construction requirements, procedures, needs, etc. Every single thing in the house had to be removed and is being restored and cleaned via the ozone process.

We and the cats now are settled in a long-term temporary location several miles from the house. We’ve also returned to our jobs. The insurance company and others involved in the work keep us fully informed, meeting and checking with us, etc., as things gradually progress.

This entire experience has been extremely upsetting, overwhelming, and disruptive in every possible way. Yet the support, concern, and encouragement from others have been so uplifting and true blessings. The house and garage will require thorough, extensive work inside and out. This is projected to take several months to complete. (The potential effects of predicted El Nino heavy rains hopefully won’t occur or create delays.)We are just so grateful for everyone and everything that have been – and are – there for us and the cats.

Thank you for your understanding.
