Bette (who is starting to wish she had come up with a more interesting username than her own, maybe Magda?) [idea2]

Please feel free to change it, Bette!  The name Magda is available, as are several other of her characters' names.

I hope my posts about multiple identities didn't scare anyone away from changing their registered username.  I do understand that a registered member might change his or her mind about what name they'd like to use here, and changing it within a profile changes the usernames in all previous posts made under that membership too.

If you change an email address, however, it's just a little bit more complicated in that a new password will be issued by the board that's needed before the account can be accessed again.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to mention all this, Bette. :)

Let me explain that my memory of events from the original run has never been very good, and I'm constantly impressed by the recall of the rest of you that watched back then.  That having been said, the prop that I remembered the most (argh!) was the grandfather clock in the foyer.  But please don't ask me why it would stick out in my mind more than, say, Josette's music box or that beautiful gramophone.

Bathia Mapes - how is one supposed to know that that is who she is?  That name appears in the credits, but I don't think she ever identifies herself!!

Bathia ("Go to the house of the curse") Mapes' name will be mentioned eventually.  Joshua will say it when he's explaining to Naomi that Angelique put a curse on the family.

I'm not sure, but by the looks of it, there IS a ball room, though it never appeared in the show. But if you look closely at the back of Seaview Terrace, the section to the right of the Tower looks to be an immense ball room. There is another shot in the "Dark Shadows On Location" video that shows the actual interior of this room, after having been converted to a school. It does look like it was originally a ball room

Seaview/Carey Mansion does have a ballroom, but it's located on the far right side of the mansion, around the corner and behind the solarium; the solarium is the last row of windows you see on the right in the opening shots on the show.  An old magazine photo of how the ballroom looked in its heyday was on one of the old boards; I can post it if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Hysterical, Castlebee!  That's one of the funniest filksongs I've ever heard, er, seen.

VictoriaWintersRox, I liked those!

This isn't a slogan, but--

2 cubic feet of mortar.........................................................$25
Cement trowel...............................................................$24.99
Vintage bricks for 8 X 4 ft. wall..............................................$50
"Working With Bricks and Cement, A Do-It-Yourself Guide".......$16.95
Knowing that a lying, misogynistic, manipulative and fanatical witch hunting so-called Reverend got his comeuppance in the cramped space behind the wall...................................................PRICELESS

I finally realized that the board takes you back to the little gray box, but that the real preivew is above it!!

Raineypark and I were talking about that in another topic here (Re: Junior v Full Registration?)-- some users have to scroll up to see their previews and others must scroll down.

Some time if the spacing would matter, there would be no way to know how it would actually appear.

The preview feature on eboards displayed the line lengths exactly as they'd appear in the posted message, but what you have here that you didn't on the previous board is the ability to modify your message after it's posted, which includes making cosmetic changes such as line length and spacing.

(Wishing RingoCollins was around to help me conjure up a clever way to make these letters louder)

We could rename this THE ROGER DAVIS SMILEY! --   [scrm]

hi midnite, thanks for the help...yikes, thats bad, my first post, and already being rude....sorry.....that was my attempt at humor, quoting B  to  T.... i hope, that once i figure this thing out, can be a positive contributor...

Thanks for being such a great sport!  I recognized the quote (with a twist ;)) and you were always so pleasant in email but it's difficult to tell sometimes when reading someone's writing if they're kidding or not or to know if everybody else will get the joke.  My sincere apologies if I embarrassed you and thanks again.

Rick, just to verify you did all the steps when you got here-- Click Login at the top, enter your registered name and password, then click Login within that space and you should have access to your username, messages, and profile.  But if you click where it says "Logout", even if its accidental, you'll have to repeat the process.

The first time you log in you must use the password sent to you.  Then you can go into your profile to change it, and be sure to save the changes.

And we're always available to answer your questions!

Rick, welcome!  Your point that it's not fair to speculate about an actor's private life is valid, which is why such comments aren't allowed here.  This comment you're referring to, however, was about a character.

Based on this guideline taken from the board rules, part of your comment was edited:
"Debate should be kept on a non-personal basis. Flaming and name-calling will not be allowed. It is never appropriate to attack, criticize, or condemn another poster. Retaliation, sharp reproof and cynicism are to be avoided. Disagreement is a natural occurrence, but as stated above, should be done in a respectful manner."

Anyone can become a member. If they are banned, they simply need go to a public library, a university, an internet cafe (there is one or two where I live), or those such places.

Yes, all members are welcome.  But if you have a problem that comes through this board, please let MB or myself know privately so that we can deal with it, but any resource we might have with which to do it isn't up for discussion.
