Current Talk '05 II / Re: laura stockbridge collins?!
« on: October 24, 2005, 11:38:07 PM »
I took a look at Dale Clark's DS Book of Questions and Answers Volume 6 which addresses this issue.  Here are some excerpts of what Mr. Clark says:

Just because Barnabas was ten when he first saw Laura Stockbridge doesn't necessarily mean that he was ten when she and Jeremiah were married. <snip>  Perhaps Laura arrived in Collinsport with her family when she was but a child and grew up with (but not necessarily close to) Barnabas and Jeremiah.  Somewhere along the way, as they all grew up, Jeremiah and Laura's paths crossed and they married.

There are several myths about the DS storylines that seem to get repeated often enough for fans to begin to accept that they happened on the show.  One example is that the Jennings brothers were twins; I've seen intense debates about it, yet not only was this never stated on the show but there is strong evidence that disputes it.  Another is the myth that Barnabas stated he was 10 years old when Jeremiah and Laura were married-- I'd read this so many times that by the time I finally saw the scene I was expecting to hear it.  But since it's only a misconception that has been bandied about by fans, does anybody else find it strange that Dale Clark would bother to discuss it in his Book of Q&As?  I mean, by bringing it up, doesn't that perpetuate the myth?

LOL, retzev.  Yep, Cheryl is inarguably his #1 fan.  She's also a member here.

And welcome!

Current Talk '05 II / Re: Why was DS pre-empted on October 23, 1970?

Why you don't want me to type in all caps??? Is something wrong with it?

It looks like you're shouting.  It's more difficult and takes longer to read.  For these reasons, it's considered bad netiquette.

I did find a later picture of the original "Donna Friedlander"...]

My understanding is that it's new, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's accurate.  [hall2_rolleyes]

Ah, gotcha.  Thanks!

Thanks, jimbo.  And Angel is being eclipsed by his co-star, Spike.  Ouch!

It's nice to see DS all over their Halloween section-- in Supernatural Shows (the writeup shows that they get it, and the word "campy" isn't in it, yay!), the Halloween Hall of Fame (as Best Daytime Drama), So Sexy It's Scary (a picture of vampire Angelique), and there's at least one DS question in the Blood Test.

Thanks, MsC!  This is why I prefer my news in print over online news.  I mean, did they have to break up the article with a big picture of Diddy?   [hall2_rolleyes]

Anyway, I wonder if Selby really is about to start work on yet another film (as the article states), or if it's an old interview.

i own NODS on video but have actually never seen HODS.they screened it at midnight at the 2003 fest but i was too sleepy to stay up for it. [8371]

mscbryk, if you have access to Turner South, the network is showing HoDS on Nov. 1 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.  (It's followed by Curtis' Burnt Offerings.)

The only ones I'm aware of are Joan Bennett [hall2_kiss] [hall2_kiss] was on ?What's My Line? (that's IIRC) and I saw  [hall2_kiss] Joel Crothers  [hall2_kiss] on Family Feud (as cast of another soap).

Joan Bennett also appeared on Match Game, The Dating Game (choosing a date) and Hollywood Squares.  Frid did What's My Line? too.  And Louis Edmonds also was on Family Feud.

Um......one of the actors was on the Dating Game, but I'll be damned if I can remember who it was.
Maybe Michael Stroka?

Yes, as one of the bachelors, but he wasn't chosen.

Current Talk '05 II / Re: 1991 Series To Be Released On DVD

On a side note, the Best Buy in my area ordered 8 copies which I believe is pretty good number since they only carry one copy of each of the MPI releases. Of course they stated that the store has yet to receive them and in fact it has yet been sent to their warehouses. Go MGM.

My Best Buy ordered only 1, but now it's MINE.   [hall2_cheesy]

Topic: Jim Fyfe on TV ad
Check out the commercial for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service that's airing this month (and probably through the tax season).  It features Jim Fyfe, the '91 series' Willie Loomis.

You've probably seen those Select Comfort Bed commercials-- the ones for the overpriced Sleep Number beds in which one partner likes his/her side of the bed on a softer or firmer setting than the other partner. A new ad has Jim Fyfe wondering if tiny barefeet on his back will treat his back pain.  His wife offers her bare feet, and Fyfe gives one of his comedic reactions.  Check it out.
