when money is paid up front for said product, in this case MONTHS in advance

My experience may not be typical, but while I did preorder months ago-- at the Fest, actually-- the charge wasn't applied until the end of October (in anticipation of a November release, I'm assuming) and it appeared on my November bill, so no, I did not pay months in advance.

Julia could buy Barnabas a "Do Not Disturb" sign to place atop his coffin so she wouldn't have to guard him during the day.

Now that made me giggle!

Quote
Barnabas could buy his little sister Sarah a new flute, she could still play it even if she is a ghost!  [santa_cool] [santa_thumb]

Not if I buy up every one of them first.   [santa_wink]

Supposedly there are boxes you can click, but I've never seen them, so I type the word...

Um, this is from a stickied topic that's currently listed at the very top of the Testing board--
The spoiler feature is my own addition to the system and, unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the time yet to create an icon for it that displays along with SMF's other BCC features.  :(  For now people need to type the two spoiler tags in their posts on their own

Quote
Hopefully this explanation isn't TOO confusing, LOL!   <santa_grin>

P.S. You don't have to bold or underline the words SPOILER, nor change their color or font size!   <santa_wink>

One of those other icons is #.  It brings up code tags, which allow the other BBC tags typed between them to show up in your post.  Much easier!   [santa_smiley]

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out some of the controls here.  In my last post, I basically quoted myself.  I was trying to fix a problem I had with a previous post.  I clicked the "reply modify" button.

The Quote and Modify buttons are close in proximity but perform separate functions.

Quote
I wanted to make the word FANTASTIC bold and italicized.

That, btw, would look like this-- (ignore the word "code")
Code: [Select]
[b][i][u]FANTASTIC[/u][/i][/b] or--
Code: [Select]
[i][b][u]FANTASTIC[/u][/b][/i] The text goes inside the opening and closing tags, the tag with the slash always comes at the end (never the beginning), and note that the order of the opening and closing tags is so that they are mirror images of each other.

In the previous post I tried to qote another poster, but did not get the quote box around it.

When you want someone else's quote to appear in your post, the simplest way is to click Quote, remove the parts of the post you are not responding to but leave all the info that appears inside the brackets, then add your response after the last quote tag (in brackets).

Quote
On another related topic, I've avoided posting about plot issues because I have not figrued out how to get that spoiler box around plot details.  Any help would be appreciated.

Again, ignore "code"--
Code: [Select]
[spoiler]spoiler-y text goes here[/spoiler]
The only codes I can think of that require any spacing at all are the smiley codes.

I apologize for any annoyance with regard to the duplicate posting.

It's no problem.  But no worries if that was a lot of info to throw at you at once!  The Help area, accessible via the horizontal menu at the top of all the Forum pages, also has a Posting section with explanations for all the SMF user codes.  But to find info on MB's spoiler code, just search the Testing board for "spoiler".  (Open the Testing board, then enter your search criteria to search the Testing 1, 2, 3 board.  The Search feature is our best kept secret, followed closely behind by the Help section and Testing board.   [santa_wink])

Crap! You know what Midnite? Last night I was prompted by Windows to update my program and it updated my IE to IE7, and now my smileys don't work.

Crap is right!  Poor Brandon.   [santa_sad]

And in other news :

ATTN: Mods......everytime I click a Santa face it screws up my post!

Brandon,

The only smiley problem that I'm aware of followed installing IE7--
Whenever I click on one of the smiley faces above, it not only doesn't appear in my post, but I get the message ERROR ON PAGE and it kicks me back to the post I'm replying too.  What's up w/that?

Julia: Oh get over it, Willie! I'm sure Mary and Cindy will find jobs.

LOL!

I so missed your cappin', darlin'.   [santa_kiss]

to get you through the holidays, here's the link.

I hope you don't mind that your post was merged into this thread.  But readers can now use the link in the main topic on p. 1 for even better results.   [santa_smiley]

And where were you when I said the exact same thing a month or two ago, and everybody jumped all over me?  Hiding behind a tree so you wouldn't have to defend my honor?

Lydia, are you referring to these comments?--
In fact there was only a vague family resemblance between the Naomi and Elizabeth; they didn't look alike.  What we see on Dark Shadows is a theatrical representation of the history of the Collins family.  Budgetary considerations and an effort to make the story more accessible to viewers compelled Dan Curtis to use the same actress for Naomi and Elizabeth and the same actor for Roger and Joshua, and so on - but it wasn't really like that.
If so, I have to agree with the responses (all in the course of what looks to be polite debate) to your post stating that evidence to the contrary was presented on the show regarding 1795 and Naomi in particular.  I can't recall that you said the same thing about other characters or storylines (and if I'm not mistaken, you mentioned not having rewatched all of 1840 yet).  But I agree that, because the cast was basically a repertory company, some resemblances were presented as plot devices while others remained unintentional.  Neither Barnabas nor Angelique commented on Evan Hanley's resemblance to Nicholas, for example, so viewers were supposed to follow their lead by ignoring the seemingly obvious resemblance of the two characters.

Added 12/04/2006--Hey-Why did the banner cut itself in half? It was fine the first day--is it the ghost of one of the Leviathans? [santa_undecided]
Later: Now it's working again...(begin the Dark Shadows Theme--ooooo-weeee-ooooo)

While it's been proven time and again that DSF is haunted, the problem was the way the code was written.  The original:
Code: [Select]
[b][i][color=Orange][move]HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. FRID! [cheer] [occasion13] [occasion15] [cheer][/move][/color][/i][/b]has been modified to:
Code: [Select]
[move][b][i][color=Orange]HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. FRID![/color][/i][/b] [cheer] [occasion13] [occasion15] [cheer][/move]
Other YaBB codes now follow the text closely, but to work correctly the move code must wrap around them.   If your banner doesn't work fine now, then you can blame the Forum ghost (s?).

There are some YaBB code topics on the Testing board that you should find helpful.

Elizabeth:  I want the drawing room furniture back by tomorrow morning, Jason, OR ELSE!
Jason:  Well, you see, Liz, I sold the furniture.  Nicely-Nicely Johnson was pressing me about a small debt I owed him, so what else was I to do?

Hee hee!  Now that you mention it, the room does look bare in that shot.

And speaking of premature diagnoses, what about that nurse who was [spoiler]watching maggie when she "died" and Barn kidnapped her from the hospital.[/spoiler] <waves to the medical people on here.> Was CPR used yet (somehow I don't think so), but even if not, didn't they try to bring a patient back with mouth to mouth?   Inquiring minds would like to know, cause that "diagnosis" seemed awful sketchy to me.

Hi, Pansity!  So glad you're on the mend, and best wishes for a full recovery.

Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation had been in use more than 200 years, and chest compressions since the turn of the century.  And yes, the use of CPR began in 1960.

I hate when TV makes nurses look stupid.   [santa_undecided]

That would be very cool.   [santa_thumb]
