Some significant (?) quotes from the ep--

Gregory, kneeling:  "The lamb must be cleansed."
And if prayer doesn't work, there's always the switch, threats, intimidation, and a lengthy stint in the cupboard without food.

Barnabas to Trask:  "You cannot take that boy to your school until his father comes home."
Once again, Louis Edmonds plays an absentee father.

Gregory to Barnabas:  "There is the evil in this house."
That would be... you, Trask.  I'm just sayin'.

Quentin to Barnabas:  "If Worthington Hall is as pleasant as its master, Jamison and Nora are in for a joyous Winter."
So now that you've acknowledged the season, we're going to be seeing some snow, right?  RIGHT?!!

Quentin to Barnabas, about his recent zombification:  "Today, the same old lovable Quentin as before."
Sorry, but I just threw that one in cuz I think he's hot.

Barnabas to Charity:  "I'll take you to your room..."
Okay.  If they're going to hang a mirror at the bottom of the staircase, they really shouldn't set up opportunities for a vampire to walk back and forth in front of it and show his reflection to the audience.

Gregory to Charity in her room:  "We must give thanks that she has been delivered back to us."
With hands clasped and fervent expressions, they simultaneously drop to their knees, thus creating one of THE most memorable scenes on DS!

When Quentin is alone with Rachel and mentions thinking about "your lovely eyes," it's something we've come to expect from him, and we're cool with it.
While Gregory and Rachel are alone and he tells her, "What beautiful hair you have" and that he often saw her in his thoughts, it's our first indication that he's a sexual predator, and it's just gross.  Have we created a double standard?

This week's ABC 7's Eye on LA, which airs Saturdays at 6:30 p.m., was filmed on the grounds of the Greystone Mansion.  The broadcast included a segment called "Exploring the Greystone Mansion," which can be watched online here:

I was wondering, did Chris ever meet Jeff Clark or did their paths never cross during that transitional stage between storylines?

I can think of only one ep that had both of them, but Jeff was in jail at the same time that Chris visited Collinwood.  Now that you bring it up, it would be kinda funny if, in the midst of Jeff's budding realization that he's Peter Bradford, someone told him that he looks exactly like a guy named Ned Stuart.   [snow_strange]

Somehow, a verse was indicated which was read aloud: "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live!" If not from DS, I don't know where I would have gotten that at such an early age (elementary school).

Could you have heard it in the original Carrie?  DS had been off the air for around 5 years already, but the Bible-thumping mother says it after Carrie has restrained her telekinetically so she can get out the door for the Prom.  While there aren't any knives in that scene, there are plenty later on.  It's just a guess.

L.A.'s Egyptian Theatre (as part of American Cinematheque) will host a special screening of Parasomnia on March 5 at 9 p.m..  KLS is in the movie's cast.  At 7:30 p.m., writer/director William Malone will be joined by horror directors Tobe Hooper, Wes Craven, Mick Garris and Stuart Malone (wow!) for a discussion of how art affects their vision.

The movie premiered last year at L.A.'s Screamfest.

Does 1897 Collinwood bear any resemblance to what it was originally?  Judith is buying into Gregory's lies whereas she didn't seem all that taken with him before; but if Barnabas had stayed in his coffin, Quentin wouldn't have died and risen again, so Judith would not have had the opportunity to see the so-called Reverend "perform a miracle."  In addition, Rachel wants to quit her job and isn't responding to Quentin's charms... both a result of Barnabas' meddling.  Quentin ran into Jenny and literally into a knife due to his decision to pay a visit to Barnabas on the night she roamed the grounds.  Edward, Judith and Carl thought their brother had died, and the latter two witnessed a possessed Jamison.  Judith legally became heir to Collinwood.  Edith died of shock.  Sandor has no desire to leave now that he's been enslaved, and Magda is staying on at the Old House as Barnabas' servant.  All of this is thanks to Barnabas...

And yet, Vicki's presence in 1796/6 caused barely a ripple despite the fact she never once tried to blend in.

It seems to me that in order for the Reverend Trask who died in 1796 to be the great great grandfather of Gregory, the Trask in every generation would need to have fathered his son at a VERY young age.  And that's giving Gregory the benefit of the doubt that he was prematurely grey.  So I think it would've made more sense if they'd left off a "great."

OMG, Quentin winked.  Be still my heart!  [luv]

But one question still stands: Would Quentin have been able to slash Barnabas's head off? Or... would it not have been possible, and the sword would have just gone right through his body (like it would in a hologram or a ghost)? [snow_huh]

I'll take a stab at it.  Ugh, sorry. ::)

1897 Barnabas is neither ghost nor hologram.  That's Barnabas' [undead] physical body inhabited by his 1969 intelligence or astral self.  It's different from the religious (?) experiences we hear about of immaterial beings that occur on an astral plane.  So you CAN kill the body, though what would happen to his astral self while there's still a body in 1969 would be up for debate.

I doubt that Quentin, even at this ruthless stage in his life, would have attempted to cut off his head, or for that matter I suspect he wouldn't have had the strength.  (And, as explained in Zahir's "Rules of DS Vampires" on this board, we're never told that cutting off a vampire's head to destroy it is one of them.)  But anyway, wasn't Quentin's threat that he would run him through?  I think it's questionable that he would have actually done it, but if he had, I'm imagining that Barnabas would have to fake a mortal wound, or for fun I'm seeing a Holy Grail/Spamalotesque skit (which I can't spell out cuz it would be fan fiction) that would be along the lines of Quentin announcing that B is dead and Barnabas saying that he's not and Quentin saying that he just ran him through with the sword and Barnabas saying that Q missed him... etc. :P

I wonder if Barnabas would have died if Quentin had stabbed him in the heart or slashed his head off? After all, the sword was made of silver!

Weren't sword blades made of steel?  (Except golden scimitars. ;))

The picture hangs in the hallway outside of Jamison's room in 1897.  It can be seen in #726 from inside the room when the door is opened.
