All I saw was 19th (Friday) at 11pm; I'm sure it'll be broadcast over the course of the weekend.

I don't know how often they repeat specials because Soapnet isn't in my area, but the 19th was yesterday, a Thursday.

He somehow found time to pick up a toy for the girl.

"Hey, somebody arrest this guy!  You want this kid to cut her fingers?
Where'd you buy this junk?!"

This was insterted into a conversation the cop has with Kojak, but it's obviously from much earlier in the episode.   [scratch]

The "victim," a religious fanatic, identified her even though she was arrested with only $10 on
her, but the man fled after he was confronted about making the same accusation numerous
times before, so that charge of Helen's was dropped.  But they still needed a sitter...

A beautiful female suspect entered the squad room, and you know how Crocker gets.  ::)

The girl's mother phoned the station, seeking to speak to her daughter.

They were playing cat's cradle, in case you can't tell from the pictures.

That's it for Part I.  Caps from Part II coming soon.

Since today is the anniversary of Virginia Vestoff's final appearance on DS-- 34 years ago today (she appears in the home page montage in Episode #1192 for Jan. 19 and #1193 for Jan. 20)-- I thought I'd finally get those screen caps posted from her 1977 Kojak two-parter.  I don't know about the rest of you, but this is her only dramatic appearance that I've seen that was set in modern day.

From:  Re: Susan Sullivan, Virginia Vestoff on Kojak eps in Southern California :
I'd love to see a couple of captures of the fabulously talented Virginia Vestoff on that show.  Hope it was a good role for her.

It was a terrific role-- she was the original desperate housewife.  And as was the case with Grayson Hall, she and Telly Savalas had wonderful chemistry.

"Kojak's Days" is a classic and was unusual in that it depicted what happens to him in a typical day, from breakfast to [a late] dinner, and as always his private life and professional duties collided.  Since it involves several cases instead of just one, the cast was untypically large; the eps starred Maud Adams (Selby's "Girl in Blue") as Kojak's girlfriend; also William Hurt, Robert Picardo, and others.  Here are caps from Part I.  Enjoy!

Kojak enters, shouting about his parking space while carrying a little girl whose wealthy father
(Michael Storm, James' brother) was murdered by her mother while the girl hid in the house.
The mother ran away and is suicidal.

Helen:  "Who's that, Attila the hun?"

"If you had any guts you'd meet me in an alley on even terms.  I told ya,
I didn't roll nobody.  I told ya, I'm an entertainer."

"Hi.  What's a nice kid like you doing in a dump like this?"

Kojak learns she was arrested in a bar for rolling a tourist for $500.

The child is played by Danielle Brisebois.

Since he's hesitant about handing the girl over to a children's shelter (better
"the warm arms of a hooker"), he asks Helen to babsit as a favor.  [lghy]

I really like the one on the main page, "Hallelujah" ...and was wondering if this video was shown at a DS festival, I love hearing the audience reaction to certain scenes.

I do too!  I didn't see it at the last Fest, and it looks to have been created since then.  It sounds as if the audience reaction is part of the music download.  (Otherwise, I'd expect Don Briscoe's bare chest to have brought the house down.   :P)

Pierson did play some of DLA75's music vids at the last Fest, however.  If you see this, hon, they were terrific!

I hope no one's posted this before.

The Search feature is very useful for locating archived material.  And speaking of which, if you enter "Love Is a Battlefield" into the search box for the Calendar boards, you'll find a few different topics with discussions about that particular video.  :D

It is episode #214. I got it out and watched  and listened close.
And rewatched and re listened. It doesn't sound like
Amontillado. It sounds like  Mont-ti-aug-o. No "L" sounds.

In the Spanish alphabet, "ll" is pronounced more or less like "y," as in "yes."

Thanks, Nancy.  I'd love to see them, Jackie.

The author who bashed Jonathan Frid, Grayson Hall, and Alexandra's performances on the original is actually a fan of the show? Could have fooled me. I have been a fan of the original for about five years now and never once thought they were bad during their performances.

Apparently I had a completely different interpretation of the comments in the DVD review.  (It's on the board mentioned above.)  I can't see that the author mentioned anything that hasn't been said many times here before, even in this topic-- Grayson Hall's Hoffman often dressed dowdily, directors demanded over-the-top performances, Victoria's character was dumbed down, Frid's vampire portrayal was scrutinized by the censors at the time, and the production values (not intellectual value) of the original series were sometimes cheesy.  But as I said before, I think that when you take words like "dummy," "cheesy," "over the top" and "[not] sexier" out of context they can initiate a knee jerk response in any fan, which is why I suggested a difficulty in not only extracting words out of context but also discussing comments that reside in a different section of the boards.

As for defending the writer's loyalty as a fan, that's best left to him.  ;)

And what is the significance of this karma thing????? Explanations are needed!!

Entering karma into the Forum's search engine provides many explanations.  There's also a topic stickied to the top of the Testing 1, 2, 3 board that's dedicated to the feature.

What's the difference between junior, senior and full posters?

This will take you to a post on the Testing board...

mscbryk, I hope you feel better soon!  I don't think David Nahmod's intent in his review (on the current Calendar/Events board) was to ridicule the original series for the sake of comparison to the revival, though I do think those are annoying labels for our show when taken out of context.  Anyway, he's a nice guy and I'm sure would be happy to explain his comments, though he's probably more likely to see replies to his article.  It's just a suggestion.  :)

I hate when people say things like this, but I think they must not have watched the original show, and are simply repeating what some twit wrote about the original (not doing their homework).

The author is actually a long-time, loyal fan.
