if i could try and date it i would guess that this was from the late 1980's.a time when louis' character had largely been written into the background.soaps often keep older characters around and then trot them out from time to time for events like weddings and funerals(and whatever this ghastly doing this was)without actively writing storylines for them.

Craig Hamrick didn't pin down the date in his book, but the events described before and after are indeed from the late 1980s.  He wrote that the soap event was a beauty pageant, taping had been dragging on, and during a long delay LE decided to liven things up.

The should call it the Internet Movie Don't Know For Sure Database!   ::)

A friend calls it the Incorrect Movie Database.

N can also be for Night of Dark Shadows. Or Ned Stuart.

Good to see you playing AngeliqueBouchard.  As you can see from the list of answers (that is moved to the most current page when possible), those words have been given.  (Your browser's "Find in this page" feature will highlight them.)  Next is O.

There's a topic that creates speculation about her true age based on public information.  Check out:

Our group, consisting of MsCriseyde, sheenasma, Midnite, VampiRich, and 6 members of the CFDS fan club including our LdyAnne, settles in at the back of the car for the long (not express) ride back, while the tongue-tied riders have barely stepped inside before starting to get their freak on in full view of the rest of us.  Both were so wasted that I'm not sure they could've found seats if they'd tried.

Thanks, Josette.  Now that their September schedule is posted, they also list this:

1966    97 mins    B&W    Subtitles    Letterbox
William Klein, Director

Influential expatriate American photographer William Klein worked for Vogue magazine from 1955 to 1965. When he made his debut feature film in 1966, he served up a caustic satire of worlds he knew intimately: high fashion and the media. Dorothy McGowan plays the titular Polly Maggoo, the latest supermodel of the Twiggy era, who is the subject of a TV documentary by a French journalist (Jean Rochefort). Cult actress Grayson Hall (“Dark Shadows”) costars as an American publisher, a character rumored to be closely based on Diana Vreeland.

This is a wonderrful opportunity, if you have access to Sundance!

Looking forward to joing the conversations here on the DS boards.

Glad to hear it!  Welcome, and thank you for the detailed report.

MsC, I just saw your avatar and the message underneath.  You kill me!!!

When I read about that in his biography, I didn't know I'd get to see it!  Ruth Warrick really did get in on the action, lol.

Okay, thanks.

I wasn't at the banquet. ;)

Ah, thanks for this, Nancy!  I couldn't take my eyes off his beautifully expressive hands.

While mentioning his female costars around him, he talks about being within "breathing distance" of a lady friend, who was in the next room, when doing a play in Georgia, and then humorously drops it.  And we know he directed Marie Wallace in "Lion in Winter" there.  ;)

Welcome, testokes!  It's great that you've jumped right in.   [thumb]

What is missing from the online edition is the red blood splatter in the article's background and a brief chronology entitled in red , "Fangs for the memories" consisting of a list of vampire themed genre starting with Vlad Dracula 1431-1476 and ending with the new 2007 tv shows; and includes of course DS with the Johnny Depp remake noted. It's on page 42 in today's edition of the newspaper.

The timeline can be found via the link after the 1st paragraph (minus the spattery background).  Who knew that DS aired from 1961 to 1971??  ;)  Thanks for posting it, jimbo.

Isn't a Lost Boys 2 in the works?

Just the other day I was reading something, somewhere, and the author stated that they canceled Angel because they were developed Dark Shadows, and WB Execs didn't think that they needed two vampire shows on at one time. And then, turns out, DS doesn't make it! I'm sure that's false, though.

It is.  False, that is.  I believe you read it in that article on the Voices From Krypton site that was linked to very recently.  Angel was canceled because the WB was more interested in reality TV fare-- to attract more viewers and save money, because even a drama on a tight budget is more expensive to produce than a reality show or even a sitcom.  Though, as Joss Whedon has said, themes seen on any ep of Angel are more "real" than anything you might see on reality TV.

But please don't think the kind words weren't much appreciated, retzev.

In that same vein (!), we could say M is for midnight, the time Quentin is invited to meet up with the ghostly Daphne in her room in 1970, causing him to toast the appointed hour ("Midnight.  Midnight." [for obvious reasons, it's my fave DS wav]) with a glass of brandy.
