Thanks to Lydia and Jackie for the welcomes. I am gonna try to find time for this board every day, I've so far been having fun with the captions. I will try to watch the episode that's being watched every day along with the one we're doing on Jackie's group. It's great to have the DVD's so that I can see them all.
Really? Maybe it's just me, but because of the way Joan Bennett and especially Dennis Patrick play their scenes together, I LOVE each and every one of them. And also, no matter how repetitive the threats might become sometimes, they get to trade some priceless barbs with each others. The dialogue in their scenes is often quite spectacular (unlike, say, the overly repetitive threats poor Robert Rodan is saddled with as Adam in the latter half of his storyline).
The whole long scene in the Blue Whale was very soapy. Nancy Barrett acted it well, and I suppose it was a necessary wrap-up to a storyline (the sort of thing that was occasionally skipped later in the series), but if this had been the first Dark Shadows episode I ever saw, it would probably have been my last. I've never seen any episode before #210, though, and I daresay I'd feel differently about the Blue Whale scene if I'd seen the lead-up to it.
Jason and Elizabeth are still fun to watch, and I agree with everyone who would have liked to see Dennis Patrick and Joan Bennett play a couple.
Tower Room smaller inside than out. Dr Who really is around.
It amazes me how people have such a hard time putting 1 and 2 together, and sometimes even 3.
1. Mrs. Johnson had been telling Willie about the legends of the Collins family being buried with their jewels
2. Willie asks where Naomi is buried
3. Willie disappears carrying tools
COME ON! A 5 year old could string that line together.
Naomi wasn't buried with the rest of the family, but was buried at Eagle Hill Cemetery.... where the family mausoleum sits. Makes sense to me.
...but I'm afraid that I do not think your posts have been particularly morally uplifting. Weren't you shocked - SHOCKED - when Liz spoke to Jason as if she, a mere female, were better than he, a man and therefore by definition God's greatest gift to womankind? And yet you said nothing! (Neither did I, but I'm still concentrating on mastering the "intelligent" part.)
(Sorry if this is jumbled,
One horrible thing occurs as Barnabas sits down on the sofa. A loose spring - BOING! You have to really listen for it though, because Liz is talking when it happens.
