Hi, retzev,

You can follow the link below to view the schedule of events of the 2002 Fest, which was pretty typical of recent Fest schedules.  Just scroll down about halfway through the topic...

ShadowGram Update #80

Hope that helps.

« on: December 17, 2005, 05:39:42 AM »
I must admit that I have no clue what anyone here is talking about. I demand credit for my honesty. I think my non-comprehension might have something to do with my lack of a definition for "theme".

MagnusTrask, MB designed preset packages of color combinations that allow you to customize the look of the Forums.  As he said, the area in your profile in which you'll find them is "Look and Layout Preferences."

PDreadful confirmed earlier what I had long dreaded to hear... that I'm evil (because I agree with an anti-hero's murders).    Well, I can't pretend it's a total surprise.

I know you're joking, but just in case you're not aware, j/k = just kidding.   [cheesyg]

I think I said, in a thread I can't find anymore...

The topic is "Vampire Survival Puzzlement" and is currently on the same page listing as this thread.

As for the curses thing, I'm going to be on the receiving end of that sort of thing for however long I'm around, so why dwell on such things?

Since PennyDreadful explained it so well...

A curse is "good", but a "cure" isn't so good (since most of us like our characters cursed in the DS world).  It's just a fun thing.  It doesn't really do anything other than giving you something to do while reading.

Ah.  Thank you!

I remember that sweater, lol.

Smoochies to Sandor  [santa_kiss]

It's a shame RD never realized during his years on DS that shouting is not effective acting.

A friendly reminder-- The Forum guidelines are very specific about gossip (see #7).  If someone representing DS has a casual and private discussion with DS fans that's totally removed from any public event, the personal info shared with the fans would qualify as gossip and shouldn't be repeated here without permission.  To use a DS Fest as an example, what is shared in the autograph line, in the dealer's room, on stage, in an interview for publication, while publicly entertaining a group of fans-- those are fine; but conversations held in private, at or outside of the Fest, should afford the DS personnel a degree of privacy when it comes to their personal info.

Please, just use your judgment, and if you're unsure, it can't hurt to ask for permission to repeat it on the internet.  Otherwise, it may be subject to removal.  Thanks!

ClaudeNorth, you had better be there!  Don't make me send the flying monkeys to get you.    [witch]

Has it ever been that late before?
Yes. It's been even later. Off the top of my head, I recall that the '89 NY Fest (my first) was August 31st-September 2nd, and when the Fests were still being held in NJ, it was typical for them to be held in September or October. The '91 NY Fest was actually held November 30th-December 1st. I *think* that's the latest an East Coast Fest has ever been held.

The {ahem} Final Farewell Fest in 2003-- the first at the Brooklyn Marriott-- was rescheduled to Aug. 29, 30, and 31, which was a holiday weekend.  It prompted a petition from fans since the new dates conflicted with school schedules and necessitated travel on Labor Day for a lot of the attendees.  It's the only Fest I've missed since I began attending in the 90s, but my kids were starting new schools and I felt wary about going anywhere near LAX that weekend.  Perhaps the petition accomplished something, perhaps not, since next year's return to Brooklyn misses Labor Day weekend.

The rate that year at the Brooklyn Marriott (and the overflow hotel, since the former sold out-- it was, after all, the final farewell Fest  [santa_rolleyes]) was $135/nite + tax.

How's that for a start?  Anyone else want to play?!

Sure.  I just asked several teens hanging out at my house, and they had sorta different answers:

The O.C.
Smallville
Gilmore Girls
Invasion
Charmed
Supernatural
Veronica Mars
Desperate Housewives
Lost

I'll definitely include a link the the DSBoards there, and we will probably have some clips up too.

Looking forward to it!  And thank you in advance for the link.  [skelleton_2]

I have one of those DS club membership cards somewhere.

And, of course, I love that we fans of the Divine One refer to ourselves as "Grayson's Legion."

It's a great name!

As for my affiliation, I'll always be one of the Psychos for Selby.   [santa_tongue]

Current Talk '05 II / Re: So ... how many tried to jump off Widows Hill?
« on: December 12, 2005, 10:09:45 PM »
I recall Phillip Todd inadvertently going over the edge after attacking the loathsome Jeb Hawkes, who, ironically enough, later went over the edge himself after Sky Rumson wrestled with him on the precipice, near the conclusion of the Leviathoan storyline.

Jeb makes the list twice because Peter also pushed him off in 1795.

This is stretching it, but very early in the series Roger charmingly told Vicki he would throw himself off Widow's Hill if she didn't forgive him for nearly barging into her room the night before.  Fortunately for us, she did.   [santa_wink]
