It's ghosts.  The Forum spirits occasionally like to mess with our heads.

I can't seem to find my post.  However, I thought I refelected on the fact that DS is taking time ...

This one?--
As much as I want the DS movie to come out. ...

After Petofi called the residents of Collinwood "a group so willing to live lies" in the previous ep, one by one their lies have now begun to fall away while Quentin (the sole inhabitant who accepts the truth about himself; for the most part, anyway) is forced to watch.  Edward, who insists on perfect order and is compelled by pride to preserve the family name above all else, has become a solitary gentleman's gentleman.  And Beth's secret-- that she's in the thrall of her vampire master-- was brought out in the open, jeopardizing Quentin's trust in her (and in Barnabas, at least for a moment).

Since Edward was completely unaware that Quentin's son had died, does that mean he also doesn't know about Sandor?

And during his opening scene in the drawing room, a camera in the foyer passed across our view.

That quick transition from befuddled child to manipulative adult at the moment when Jamison kisses his father, thereby passing the curse on to him, shows just what an extraordinarily fine child actor David Hennessy was.

I thought that was pretty amazing too.  Louis Edmonds' portrayal of a servant was also inspired.

The CW's Fall show The Vampire Diaries (based on the book series) has been mentioned here before, and at Comic-Con its writer/producer compared the story of vampires set loose on a small town to DS--

http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2009-7-26-comic-con-first-look-the-cw-s-vampire-diaries

I heard that during the Vampire Diaries (VD??) panel, he told the audience that he watched the show when he was a kid, calling it a "sexy soap."

I always enjoy Don R. Vaughan's blog. I particularly enjoy it whenever he attempts to encourage people to speak correctly (sadly, an often all too quickly slipping away practice  [ghost_sad]). And I especially enjoy it whenever he does so with DS as a prime example of correct speech to which we should aspire.  [ghost_cool]

Here's another entry inspired by DS.  Thank you for the link, Julia99!

True about Judith's culpability, or lack of it.  Didn't Tim ask her for a job after that?  I can't recall that it ever came up again.

Tim Shaw was definitely a better human being in the earlier days, but I find him a lot more interesting as a vengeful schemer.

I know Judith changed the will in Trask's favor, but I would hope she didn't disregard the possibility that something might happen to her new hubby. Hopefully she would have have a little foresight enough to appoint another guardian for the money. Probably Edward since he's Jamison's father and she didn't trust Quentin. If that's the case, then there's no way that Amanda would inherit anything and Tim's plan entire plan would be futile.

When Judith wrote the new will, appointing Gregory to administer the estate (in the event of her death) until Jamison's 21st birthday, she was a content and unwary bride, and I doubt she considered the possibility that her husband would remarry again.  And she could not have anticipated that anything like the shallow, golddigging Amanda would enter their lives.  So yes, I think Amanda could potentially take control of the estate if she became Gregory's 3rd wife after Judith's death but before Jamison reached 21 (IF he gets to be that old).  And then I'd bet Jamison's inheritance would be gone by the time he was old enough to get his hands on it-- spent on diamonds and European fashions and false lashes.

Of course, one flaw in Tim's plan is that Amanda could dump him once she's wealthy.

Istvan, the first African American on DS. (Was he also the only African American on the show?)  [ghost_undecided]

Oh Sally...
I liked her too, Lydia. [ghost_smiley] I may be wrong about this, but I believe the black nurse was the first black person to appear on DS. [milestone]

This was one of those rare voiceovers that was part recap, in case the excitement of the previous day's events caused us to forget?  Anyway, it explained that Victor Fenn-GibbonS (!) revealed at the Old House that Aristede had been acting as his agent, and when Magda truthfully revealed that the hand was missing, an angry Aristede was sent from the house.

BTW, the DS Program Guide states that the previous day's show was preempted on 7/21/69 for the Apollo 11 Splashdown.  The splashdown, really??!  (It also lists an incorrect tape date for this ep, sigh.)

Quentin threatened the murder of 3 people in this ep; that has to be a record!...
Q to Petofi:  "How were you cured? Tell me if you want to live!"
Q to Magda:  "You stole the hand and you brought him here. I should kill you for that."
Then, Q to Evan (about who possessed the hand):  "Tell me, or I'll kill you right here, tonight!"

It always amazes me that spellcasters on DS can recall any needed incantation at the drop of a pointy hat, but does Quentin really expect Petofi to remember details of how the old gypsy cured him 100 years ago?  (Julianka already told Quentin in #796 that Petofi paid for her great-grandmother's werewolf cure with his hand, so Magda's telling of all this to Quentin shouldn't have been necessary.)

If he needs a reason to kill Magda, shouldn't it be for putting the curse on him in the first place rather than for stealing the hand in order to help him?

As to killing Evan... oh, just do it.  Please.

I'm guessing that the popular Quentin 5X7 postcards were photographed right around this time.  The hair and sideburns look the same, and in one of the images he's wearing the same coat worn in this ep.

It was fantastic when Quentin realized that Count Petofi was telling the truth when Petofi mentioned that he felt great sadness when he woke up in the morning and discovered that the wolf had killed his prized unicorn.

Actually, it made Quentin realize that Victor was lying about not being Count Petofi.  Only someone with intimate knowledge of what it's like being a werewolf would know that they wake with no memory of what occurred during the transformation.  This mistake forced Victor to finally admit that he really was the Count.

I notice, too, that Petofi lifted his suitcase with his "bad" hand.  Interesting.

I thought that was deliberate.  Wasn't it?  It happened after Jamison had kissed him and became possessed by his spirit.  If Jamison adopted Petofi's disability, then it's possible that Petofi took on one of Jamison's abilities.  No?

Midnite, thanks for writing down the words of the incantation.

You're welcome, Lydia.

Quote
Sometime or other I want to compare them to the words Nicholas Blair used in the ceremony with Maggie.  It seems to me that there was another bird or beast besides the bat and the raven mentioned in the other ceremony.

An owl, that's whooooo.  (Sorry, sorry!)

Quote
And it seems to me that Angelique mentioned a charred and blackened star once.

I don't know that she did, but I'm pretty sure it's part of the Leviathan wedding vows.  [ghost_cheesy]

I don't remember hearing the rising mist business before, and I liked that.

I like it too.  I think it was also in the incantation that drew Angelique out of the fire and into this storyline.

Magda told Quentin to rrrun, rrrun away

King Johnny admits he put the knife in Sandors back and killed him.  So his death was not really the result of Julianka's curse as this happened before he died and eplains why he was cold as if he'd been dead a long time.

It reveals who put the knife in Sandor's back, but it doesn't explain the rest, such as why he turned up as an icy zombie.  In that same ep (#798), we learned that Quentin's baby son was fine and playing when he suddenly let out a scream and was immediately found very cold in his crib as if he'd been dead a long time, same as Sandor.  (brrr!)
