In the reshoot, we get a better display of Barnabas' superhuman strength when he physically subdues Aristede.  Hmm, how was Aristede able to fetch chilled champagne from deep inside an old abandoned mill?

A camera (?) casted a dark shadow (!) over Jamison.

alwaysdavid, they had the correct portrait over the Old House mantle during the flash-forward!  LOL, and then the cameras avoided showing that area back in 1897.  (And the red flowers in the urn that have mostly been in Evan's home in 1897 have shown up 1969.)

Barnabas (about being accompanied to the future):  "Count Petofi, do you think this is some sort of a carriage ride?"
That line is not nearly as good as Professor Stokes' "Mr. Collins, I am not a travel agent for time!"

Petofi to Barnabas:  "You will be no longer able to indulge in your favorite trick."
The Count made it pretty clear that he was referring to the power to disappear, but I wonder if he also took away Barn's ability to turn into a bat.  For one thing, after receiving Petofi's marks, Barnabas walked out the door of the lair instead of choosing to fly out.  And in a future episode, Barnabas (while still marked) will find himself in a predicament that he could escape from by turning into a bat and flying away, but he won't.

The greatest mistake of his life?   How short is his memory?  I'd have to say Angelique in 1795.

Well, I think at this point it might seem to Barnabas that trusting Petofi and Aristede was his greatest mistake.  Not only does he believe that Quentin is still on the path to ghosthood, but Jamison lay dying, which means that David isn't just doomed-- chances are, he won't even be born.  So it's not that Barnabas has forgotten about Angelique, but that he's putting the well-being of the future Collinses above his own personal problems.  Or something.

Count Petofi made Magda take him to Barnabas's coffin in the West Wing at Collinwood

You're a little bit ahead; we didn't learn yet which part of the house it was.  And this probably explains why it was referred to as "an unused wing of the family mansion" in this episode-- Sam Hall may have intended it to be in the East Wing, whereas Violet Welles will say it was the West Wing.

It's interesting that David Hennessey is now playing TWO characters who are close to death simultaneously.

Good point.

In light of some harsh accusations made here, I first want to say that in case it is not clear to anyone, Bobubas has stated that the tape in his possession was not produced illegally.  I can think of multiple examples in which someone can have a legal and legitimate recording in their possession.  One example would be the advance copies that move producers mail out for voting consideration.

Nancy provided a link to information (by Wikipedia's standards, that is) about what constitutes a bootleg that addresses not only production but also distribution.  Returning to my example above, if one of the screeners were to decide to dupe and sell their advance copy, that act would be considered illegal pirating.  Turning now to Bob's most recent post, he said that the "recording was made for the production staff's own use."  I'm not an attorney, but as I understand the issue, a sold copy of the recording (in the absence of the needed permissions) could meet the definition of a boot.  Of course, he did not say on the Forums that he intends to copy or sell it, and it's possible that he actually does have legal permission to do so.

Finally, thank you for the clarification, Bobubas, but to address your final comment, NO ONE has the freedom to slander (libel, actually) another fan's reputation here, but I am not seeing instances of it by Nancy in the topic, though she did say that it is illegal for you to own the recording, which you and I have now directly addressed, and I don't feel that anyone reading this topic would be confused about that issue at this point.  I'm very sorry if my decision upsets you.

I did considered that, but nothing was mentioned in the auction. I doubt the person will be selling it too much longer anyways (quick profit thing).

Actually, copies are still listed for sale.  And btw, any material that an individual creates him/herself is copyrighted, and you'd most likely need to obtain permission from the copyright holder to upload it.

a friend and fellow Depp fan with a good eye thought that it might've been inspired by this old photo taken by photographer Henny Garfunkel in around '90 or '91

A VERY good eye!

a painting of Depp, Frid, Cross and Newman by George Pitcher which was taken from Film Fantasy Magazine Summer'09. Not a bad painting although Depp as Barnabas could have been more accurate. Wouldn't mind getting hold of a lithograph of the 4 Barnabas'.

I haven't seen the ShadowGram issue, but something tells me that my scan from the magazine (it's from one of its collector's editions called "Life Story") might be clearer.

From what jimbo says, I'm guessing that the other artist's image wasn't included.  I think the likeness is better, but to quote my daughter, "What's up with the moustache?"

The Program Guide lists a Thayer David voiceover, but it's most definitely David Selby's voice.

Jamison/Petofi might have been slightly better off while departing Collinwood had he not taken the time and energy to rewrap the box with the hand.

Petofi lies in suspended animation, yet he couldn't seem to decide if his left hand should be on his chest or at his side; it not only changes from scene to scene, but we see him trying to make up his mind.  But what's really amusing is that one of these scenes begins with his ungloved right hand on top of his chest even though it's supposedly still in the box.  Oops.  A mysterious shadow can also be seen ducking out of sight in one of the scenes.

I think Aristede's make up artist has gotten to Quentin.

lol  Was it Revlon, Max Factor, or Sherwin Williams?

Quote
The hand gained a lot of weight,

And got a manicure.

I think the clue for Barnabas that Jamison will die when Petofi dies are the boy's physical symptoms.  The possessed Jamison tells Barnabas that he (Petofi) is dying, yet instead of Petofi's spirit losing its hold, the boy's body continues to grow weaker.

Ivana Milicevic plays a sassy mistress in the August 20th [penultimate 1st season] ep of the USA Network series Royal Pains titled "Nobody's Perfect."  Her character could also be described as a Maggie-Evans-turned-gold-digger type.

You can access the full episode here, or check the network schedule for repeats.  (Or watch it on USA on September 3 at 2 p.m. Eastern & Pacific times.)

*****This is the episode where Amanda gets slapped and knocked out.*****

Stroka's voiceover:  "...as one young man will soon learn, the night has a thousand eyes."
And now I can't get the Bobby Vee song out of my head.  Which is actually not a bad thing.

Nora, after Tim asks if she'll keep his secret:  "Cross my heart, I will."
Another song from Bobby Vee!  But I did a little research and learned that the first written reference to the oath "cross my heart (hope to die)" is from the early 1900s and it did not become a schoolground staple until later, so while most of us could relate when we heard Nora say it during the summer of '69, it is as anachronistic to 1897 as her Raggedy Ann doll.

Nora's gift was called a locket, but as we saw in the previous ep it's just an emerald pendant or some other green stone.

Nice job by Don Briscoe when his face showed his realization that something was not right about Jamison.

Aristede to Jamison/Petofi:  "The hand is within our reach again."
It's almost in our clutches?  The hand is within our grasp?  We nearly have a grip on it?  No matter how you say, I think it sounds silly.

Nora tried to open the box, but it was locked. It was the first time that the box was locked when someone tried to open it.

Was it locked?  Jamison/Petofi was able to open the latch without a key, so perhaps the hand prevented her from opening the box?

Tim's use of the word shall doesn't bother me since he's well versed in Latin and now sees himself in the role of a wealthy gentleman.
