I wonder if by chance the song was this version of the theme song?

I've always liked Oneiroid Psychosis' "reinterpretation"!

my preoccupation with the show's costuming does get over the top. ;)

Nah.  Your comments are much too enjoyable for that.

But, if you join MB and me on our next visit to Newport, and you were to put on a sleeveless dress and don a black wig with pigtails for a stroll on the beach, then... maybe.  [wink2]

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Moments that made you go "WHAT?!!!!"
« on: November 19, 2006, 08:16:02 PM »
I am currently watching DVD Collection 16. Last night, I saw an episode where Barnabas is telling Julia that Angelique is in 1897. Julia is surprised, and Barnabas tells her that Angelique showed up:

"A week ago. A week after I came here."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, please tell me that it was a line flub by Frid. Please tell me that he was supposed to say "A month ago". Because, if I rewatched all of the 1897 episodes and added together the number of nights that they have had since Barnabas appeared, they might equal to about thirty. (Not counting the fact that they've had several full moons). But there is no way in hell that everything that has happened since Angelique was conjured up has happened in one week. No way.

JF blew the line, and the second part-- "a week after I arrived from the present"-- sounds (to me, anyway) like he realized his mistake and attempted to correct himself.  Which is slightly more forgivable when you consider that the script reads:  JULIA:  Angelique is here!  BARNABAS:  She put in an appearance about a week after I got here. my arrival from the future.

Brandon, soon you're going to get to the ep in which Quentin states she was there for 6 months, which makes loads more sense and brings it closer to "real time" if you were watching the show as it was originally broadcasted:
... 853 - A morose Quentin drinks and listens to his music in the drawing room. Kitty, fully-dressed and highly agitated, enters in and interrogates him all about
his fiancee
--is she French? No, he says. (We accidentally see Lara Parker in the background.) She must be, frets Kitty, how long has she been here? Six months, and she came to see me, says Q.

MT, do you use a Firefox extension called Greasemonkey?  If so, you may have inadvertently installed one of user scripts that is a forum despoiler.

MB, midnite....

By the way, the Spoiler box doesn't seem to be working for me.  By the time I see it, and my red alert goes off in my head and says to stop reading, I'm already partway through.   I wonder if anyone else has that problem.   It's like reaction time when you're driving, I guess.   The only thing I can think of is allowing a few blank lines before the spoiler.

All spoilers remain hidden until your mouse cursor passes over them.  So would it help to keep it pointed at a location outside the posts?  Spoiler boxes already make reading the posts a bit choppy, and it might worsen with extra blank lines.

Quote
but then what's a spoiler for me is dofferent than for someone else, and most of mine won't even get boxed.   It's 1968 for me.   So i'll just have to make do as best I can.

Hmm, I honestly don't know what '68 spoilers are getting by.   [scratch2]  Sorry about that!

The stairless-Old House. I wonder what happened to them that day. Any speculation?

The Old House set was not permanent (only the Collinwood drawing room and foyer were), so it was sometimes dismantled during the course of shooting the series.  But Frid once told a convention audience that the OH set came the closest to being one as well.

Quote
Looks to me like there is a little corridor back there behind where the stairs would be. Where does that lead? The dressing room? Make up? The can? Or perhaps THAT is where the characters always walk to when they say they are going to the study!

One floor plan that's easy to get your hands on is in the DS Alamanc (p. 26 or 126, depending on the edition); during that day's episode
in which Carolyn is murdered,
the Old House and Collinwood sets were at opposite ends of the studio.  It also looks like taking a slight left path out of the CW drawing room toward the "study" will lead someone into an outside wall, but an actor taking a slight right path might indeed find him/herself on another set.

Gosh, what a wonderful picture!  Could you put it into Caption This!?

Yes!, and done.

What's she doing in that scene just then, or saying?

I think she was pacing about, waiting for Barnabas to come through the cellar door.  She'll have some 'splainin' to do, and not just about Quentin.  ;)

Roger is listed as a guest at the next Burbank show (February 16 and 17, 2007) along with Ben Murphy in an "Alias Smith and Jones" reunion.   No other DS alumni are listed at this time (although, if I'm not mistaken, none of the listed DS guests ended up attending the October show).  For more info:  Sharon and Ray Courts' Hollywood Collectors & Celebrities Show

Thanks, Kosmo!

I understand they, MPI, will sell the pre-Barnabas DVDs exclusively through their website first.

They won't actually be for sale on their website, but through their DVD Club (which you can join via their website).  The post directly above yours states this.
