Gee, I made Ziti last night and finished the last of it tonight.

And you didn't save any for me?  Eek!

Re: Sopranos, I don't think MB is missing anything.  Count me among the Italian-Americans that despise the show and wish it would go away. :-/

Re: Angel, I thought those plot twists were pretty shocking too, scout75, though I'm not as big a watcher of that show since Darla was staked. :'(

When the House of Dark Shadows was being made, the actors were provided meals at the "honey wagon" as it was called.

I went with my son's class when they visited a local shoot for 7th Heaven (the little girl was their classmate), and while being showed around someone explained where the term "honey wagon" came from.  Ewwww.

Here's an article that appeared in the NY Times last week.  It's a difficult read, but it reveals what's known about the losses suffered inside the Marriott Hotel.  The photo is also devastating, so be prepared if you decide to visit the link.  You may be asked to register for the site first.

Some of you probably got the idea that no employees or guests were lost on 9/11 from reading the ShadowGram announcement posted last year, but I'm sorry, what was said in it doesn't jibe with any other report I've read on this subject.

Dearest Bob the Bartender, in the 4 years I've been moderating this forum, your account was the first post that made me cry, but I don't mean that in a bad way!--  it's the wonderfully honest way you revealed your feelings that I found to be so touching.  Speaking of this, of all the posts lost when VNet (our former host) deleted our boards without warning, I'd give anything to get back the one topic started on 9/11 which Gerard began by saying he was grateful his friends were safely back home, and by doing so he offered the rest of us, numb with shock, an opportunity to begin speaking about it.  And being able to share my feelings with the rest of you helped me so much in coping with the horror of that day.  I don't suppose anyone else saved all or part of that thread?

Does anyone know how it works for lunch on a tv show set? I know in movies they cater it for the whole crew, which is a pretty nice perk for the workers. Do they do that on a tv show? I can just see the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that DC would generously provide! [greed]

TV shows have a catering truck for location shoots.  Same thing on the sets, except for the large studios which have cafeterias.

I have no idea how lunch was handled on the DS set, but your scenario wouldn't surprise me at all. ;)

At this point, Vicki should have said, "I'll stop thinking about Jeff when you stop thinking about being buried alive."

Note to self:  Add ProfStokes to the list of cousins whose messages I will not read while I'm taking a drink.

:D

Hmmm - knowing how Joss operates, I'm not quite sure how I should interpret that remark. [rleyeb] [winkb]

Oh, it was totally meant as a compliment.  Creating suspense-- it's a talent. [smlyb]

But, I'm curious.  You're talking about new episodes, so how do you know that the 5th one is going to show this?  I could see some advance advertising hinting at the first or possibly even the 2nd episode, but I can't imagine how you would know so much about the 5th!!

Josette,

The demand for Buffy and Angel spoilers has led to a plentiful supply of them on the net, and one doesn't have to look very hard to find them.  Most are leaked by people behind the scenes (the creator of the shows-- Joss Whedon-- demonstrates the same degree of self-restraint as our MB!), and sometimes the actors themselves let tidbits slip during public appearances.  They also film around here and you can occasionally get close enough to see what's going on, as any student that attends Cal State Northridge (posing as the new Sunnydale High; oops, was that a spoiler for anybody?) can tell you.  Sometimes I try to avoid the spoilers (as with the Season 6 finale, but don't think I wasn't tempted), and sometimes you can't help it-- you read it in a magazine article or on an e-list.  But knowing doesn't spoil my enjoyment of the show, and in the case of a character's death near the end of last season I was glad I knew about it ahead of time because I think it would've been too awful a shock otherwise.

Things sure have changed since the DS days, eh?

Current Talk '02 II / Re: Elliott Stokes?

Unless I'm mistaken (which I may well be) the character was introduced post 1795 as "T. Eliot Stokes." I have heard Julia refer to him as and call him Eliot but I have not heard anyone mention the name "Timothy."

His counterpart in parallel time, when we get there, is called Timothy Stokes, father of Alexis and Angelique. That is the only time I recall anyone using the name Timothy.

The first time we see the regular-time character (when he comes to Collinwood to make an offer on Angelique's painting), Vicki introduces him to Barnabas and then again to Roger as Professor Timothy Stokes.  And he tells Angelique his name is Timothy Stokes when he tries to stop the dream curse, but that may have been the last time.
