"The Return of the Vampire" had a wonderfully spooky graveyard set in the film.  I wonder if the Dark Shadows set designers were inspired by that highly-underrated Bela Lugosi film, when they designed the Eagle Hill Cemetery set?   [hall2_smiley]

Bob the Bartender, I thought the same thing!  I also see a similarity between the mausoleum that contained Tessla's coffin and the secret room of the Collins mausoleum, though the former's opened to the outside whereas Barn's has the anteroom.  And the first thing we see as Lugosi comes out of his coffin is the hand wearing one large ring, which becomes important to the plot, though it's actually worn on his ring finger.

Shades of the shadow cutout that [spoiler]Jeb put on Nicholas[/spoiler]- though [spoiler]Nicholas wasn't exactly willing to accept it.  [hall2_wink][/spoiler]

AAAA!, and I was thinking of you.  From Science Fiction/Double Feature:  Dana Andrews said prunes gave him the runes, and passing them used lots of skills  [hall2_grin]

I was thinking (be afraid, be very afraid  [hall2_wink] ) about the Dream Curse and realized it in some ways bore a startling resemblence to the plot of the Japanese film Ringu and its US remake The Ring.

How wild that you should bring up The Ring because I watched it on DVD last night. I hadn't associated its premise with the Dream Curse, but now that you mention it, there are definite similarities. (I loved The Ring - tonight's viewing is the unrated version of The Ring Two.)

Both "The Ring" and the dream curse storyline bring to mind a 1957 movie starring Dana Andrews called "Night of the Demon" (or "Curse of the Demon"), which was based on the short story "Casting the Runes" by M.R. James.  The movie is about a powerful leader of a Satanic cult who imposes a death curse on those who pose a threat to him by having them accept a scrap of paper on which the curse is written.  The only way to save yourself is to find a willing recipient of the piece of paper within the allotted time.  (Rocky Horror afficianados will recognize the reference to the movie.)

Current Talk '06 II / Re: What ever became of Diana Davila???
« on: October 22, 2006, 12:29:56 AM »
Diana has been in at least 5 shows on Broadway between 1967 and 1978, including "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie", in which she played a student named Jenny, and her most successful Broadway role may have been in the musical adaption of Shakespeare's "Two Gentlemen from Verona", which opened in late 1971, and ran through mid 1973. Diana is on the original cast recording, which last time I checked, was available in CD.   Raul Julia, and Clifton Davis were the other leads, and Jeff Goldblum was also in the cast.

Kosmo graciously provided a scan of his January, 1973 Playbill for "Two Gentlemen of Verona."  It's readable on my PC, but I won't mind typing the text if someone needs it.

And, your point is?!   [hall2_grin]

Ha ha, BuzzH!  Um, that "neurotic" missed the mark?-- More like psychotic[hall2_wink]

How many times must these people be told?! It's cat food, not dog kibble.  [hall_wink]

[lghy]   Hey, we could poll fans who plan to watch HoDS tonite to ask which will be their snack of choice.   [hall2_lipsrsealed]

in the new film Running With Scissors, a "dramady" about a dysfunctional family, Jill Clayburgh plays a DS fan who is seen watching the show! Apparently her DS watching is her escape from her neurotic life!!

Isn't that true for all of us???  <skull_winks>

But, from today's review in the LA Times, her character is "a catatonic shut-in who spends her days gaping at horror movies on TV and eating dog kibble out of the bag."  Oh great.

nor the links from the "Show unread posts since last visit" feature.  [hall2_embarrassed]

That does display message icons.  But the "View the 10 most recent posts..." feature and the listing of "Recent posts" don't.

Just wondering why my last post was spoilered? I'm not complaining or anything, I just thought that if the whole topic was spoilered, we didn't have to spoiler anything. If we still have to spoiler our posts in a spoilered topic, than I will be more cryptic with plot points in the future.

Please don't be more cryptic.  You're right that it isn't required in this topic, and it's the visitor's responsibility to note that an entire topic is spoilered.  (Anyone reading posts via the new post links on the home page who is concerned about spoilers, beware, because message icons don't display in those listings.)  I added the spoiler code as an extra safeguard because the plot point is less common, and since it's preceded by the ep #, readers could figure out for themselves if they want to read one from it.  So I was coming from a better-safe-than-sorry place.   [hall2_smiley]

Okay...some Drama Queens and Kings had better show up or I'm going to cry my eyes out or throw a fit!!!  (still deciding) [bawling2]

Hee hee, CastleBee!  (rhyme unintentional)  I'm apparently cool as a cuke-- hmm, that's not very Leo-like-- but I've had friends who could honestly answer yes to everything in The DQ Test, and can you say "high maintenance"?  But I found the 2nd test very amusing, and yay, I'm a Drama Princess too!   [hall2_cheesy]

Let's not forget that as depicted in today's slideshow, Julia wasn't the only person unable to detect Liz' pulse:

1968: Ep #603 - Vicki discovers Liz has no pulse.

But then again, I suppose the fact that it was Vicki isn't the sort of example that actually helps exonerate Julia, now is it?  <Halloween grin>

 [lol2]  So funny, MB!
