Has anyone spotted Jeremiah's portrait in PT?  It obviously isn't over the fireplace as in regular time; how different was Jeremiah's history from his RT counterpart, do you suppose?  I see that the portrait-that-resembles-Joshua has a slightly more prominent location in the drawing room in this storyline.

Parallel time Collinwood has a rooster too?!

After three years, it is very easy to forget that Barnabas is living - or anyway, undead - history.  What did he think when he heard the news that King Louis XVI had been guillotined?  And was poor Louis XVI guillotined in parallel time?

But wouldn't Barnabas already know this since the execution happened in his lifetime?  Or did I misunderstand what you're saying?

So which is worse, tannic acid or booze?

I thought tea contained tannin, not tannic acid.  But with this viewing, I am really noticing the amount of booze that Will consumes.
I must admit that it's painful to watch these DS episodes purely because of the outright thievery of one of Hitchcock's best pictures. I simply don't know how much more I can stand. Sorry, folks, but there it is.
I am not a big fan of this storyline, but I wonder if it's fair to harshly judge it based solely on it being a ripoff of a major movie.  The writing indeed relies heavily on du Maurier's story, but at different times, DS plots have also borrowed from Henry James, Emily Brontë, RL Stevenson, Mary Shelley, HP Lovecraft, EA Poe, etc.

Spoiler alert would be nice. I've never seen that episode and didn't even know "1795" had anything to do with anything. Oh well . . . Just thought I'd point that out since it seems every one is so hard up about it at randomly selected times.

MB and I try to get spoiler warnings in place as a help to our readers who haven't seen all the eps.  Admittedly, we might not catch them all, and my apologies in this instance.  Though in hindsight, it does seem helpful that the poster began his sentence with "in episode 463."

Whose VO?
Ken McEwen, I believe.

It was John Harkins, who managed to make his VOs sound very different from his character.

McEwen did a few, but I think not til after
Larry Chase was turned into a popsicle.
Is that the Rose Red house that Stephen King wrote about?

Yep, the Winchester House was an inspiration for RR.

It's the same image that's on EntertainmentEarth's order page.

Larry Chase, substituting for Chris Collins.   I wonder what's happening to Don at this point.   I'll feel stupid when I'm told why this actor is so familiar.

Don was unable to continue on the show due to health problems caused by recreational drug use.  (His scenes in HoDS already wrapped.)  It's been rumored that he was to have played Randall Drew in 1840, but Don had left NYC and had what some have called a breakdown, though we now know he suffered from bipolar disorder.

Ken McEwen (Chase) had been the show's Associate Director for over a year.  And why on earth would you ever feel stupid?  :-*

There's one in the 2000 Almanac.  [ghost_wub]

Just a note that this weekend's Eye on LA (Saturdays at 6:30 p.m., Sundays at noon on KABC7) includes a repeat of this segment-- same as the one in the main topic, except Leslie Sykes is reporting this time around.

Assuming that the PT portrait is the same one that used to hang in her mother's house, LP has said that it was painted directly over a nearly life-size photograph of her.

I found a photo of LP posing in front of the one that was hanging in her mother's house, and although she described it in that interview by saying "it was not the painting that was used in the movie. It was the painting that was used towards the end of the show," she's actually wearing the red dress that her character wore in NoDS.  Confusing much?

Anyway, there are photos of her posing for the Parallel Time portrait (next to that lamp you so love, Janet the Wicked), and the portraits of the two Angelique Collinses are very similar, so I believe that the PT portrait was similarly painted over a photograph.

I don't have the revised Almanac nor The Movie Book so perhaps it's in one of those?

It's mentioned in the 2000 Almanac, and I couldn't tell you where I'd read about the stolen painting before that.  BTW, what's not mentioned in the book is that the thief cut around the painting to get it out of the frame, sigh.
