Calendar Events / Announcements '13 II / DS Caribbean Cruise 2015
« on: November 14, 2013, 03:52:17 AM »
Yet another drastic date change for the next DS cruise, but this one has been "finalized" (according to the editor of CruiseGourmet.com):

www.hartfordholidays.com/dsfmartinique2015
Facebook page to be set up shortly.
"We have invited even more cast members to join us and some special surprises"

With thanks to Bette!

(Regarding the guest list, we've seen announcements that actors would attend other events when in fact they hadn't agreed to do so.  So when Selby himself announces that he's attending the cruise, I'll believe it. [hall2_wink])

I'm sure you mean the first Doctor Mabuse.  To watch for DVD pre-orders (last I read, there was a delay in accepting them, but the official Facebook page promises it will happen soon), check the Doctor Mabuse website.

---- REPORTING:
DARK SHADOWS AT SEA: DARK SHADOWS HALLOWEEN CRUISE

Original DS actresses LARA PARKER (Angelique), KATHRYN LEIGH SCOTT (Maggie), and MARIE WALLACE (Eve) hosted over 100 fans for a week-long
round-trip cruise to Kings Wharf, Bermuda, from Oct. 27 – Nov. 3.

The ship “Explorer of the Seas” (Royal Caribbean Cruise Line) left Cape Liberty Cruise Port in New Jersey (New York City area). During several days at sea, the fans enjoyed intimate Q&A sessions with Marie, Lara, and Kathryn. The ladies also offered dramatic performances and shared many recollections of their days on DS and other career achievements.

A highlight of the journey was an elaborate DS Halloween Costume Party in the ship's gothic-flavored “The Chamber,” a dungeon-style night club, which also included dancing. Kathryn dressed as waitress Maggie Evans, her original DS character. Lara appeared as a wicked, black-haired witch. Marie became a mysterious but glamorous society matron. Many fans came splendidly attired in an intriguing array of costumes.

A further celebration on the deck of the ship included the other 1,000 + guests on board. Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 (Halloween) were spent docked at Kings Wharf in Bermuda, offering a variety of opportunities to explore, relax, shop, sightsee, and more.

For the first time, Kathryn, Marie, and Lara joined together for a musical-comedy performance in a skit, set backstage in the dressing rooms of “Dark Shadows” in 1968. During the show, they proceeded to offer humorous stories, capped with a rousing group rendition of "Together, Wherever We Go." The 3 ladies presented the song complete with special DS-themed lyrics as they danced and flung colorful feather boas, to the delight of the crowd.

**** Now in the planning stages for 2015: A Dark Shadows Caribbean cruise, to include a stop in Martinique (the 1795 home of DS’ Angelique Bouchard and Josette and Andre DuPres).

Calendar Events / Announcements '13 II / Update on DS Cruise
« on: November 01, 2013, 05:13:39 AM »
A cousin on the cruise reported that the Fest was such a success that there will be another next Halloween-- a 7-day cruise to the Caribbean leaving Florida.  And so many on the ship expressed interest in the DS events that the actresses were asked by Royal Caribbean to present a program including Q&A and the bloopers DVD in a 1500-seat theater available to the entire ship.  They also provided some musical entertainment to the Fest guests that wasn't part of the original program.

It has always been our policy that personal information about the actors' lives that exists in a published source or has been documented during a personal appearance is acceptable, but the Forums do not recognize word of mouth as a source of information.  From the Forum Guidelines:

These boards are not forums for the spreading of gossip or innuendo, or the defaming of the DS actors' private lives. Comment on their public behavior, whether it be a personal appearance or in the course of some other form of public exposure (i.e. a talk show, Fest appearance, etc.) is perfectly acceptable, however.

The estate is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and tours of the mansion will be available to fans. An acclaimed example of “19th century American Gothic Revival style architecture,” it was the elegant home of railroad magnate/Wall Street tycoon Jay Gould, who bought the estate in 1880 and added to it – inside and out. The rooms are filled with original and period furnishings, décor, and art collections. The spacious, open grounds are laid out in a “gardenesque" style, with sloping wide lawns, established trees, and a wide variety of bushes, shrubs, flowers, and other plants.

Sleeping Hollow Cemetery and Washington Irving’s home Sunnyside are within walking distance. From Lyndhurst
