LOL, Ian!

Why Abe Vigoda (who just celebrated his 84th birthday, God bless him) is annoying--

"He has looked like an old man his entire life."   ^-^
I believe they said it was believed to have been the last remaining unicorn on earth, but I'm not positive about that.

He was the last man known to own one, which I guess leaves it open to interpretation whether it was the last unicorn or not.
Ohmygod, that is beautiful!

Do you by any chance sell your work on ebay, FireRose?  I ask because a friend bought a painting of Magda with a similar style that is to die for.

I can't see a difference in lucida sans v. reg. board font...

This is Comic Sans MS in size 4
This is Lucida Sans in size 4
This is the Verdana font in size 4
This is the default font in size 4

If you can't discern any difference from the default, you don't have the font.  Only you can know the names of the fonts installed on your computer, but if you're sure you have a particular font yet desire a more striking difference from the default, choose a different one.

Yo, dvlvan26!  :D

I assume it refers to the song of that name heard in all the dance clubs in the early 80s.

« on: February 25, 2005, 08:03:22 AM »
Whole lotta spoilers...
Around the time HODS was made, bringing back Dracula was very popular particularly in the Hammer horror movies.  Usually, an unstaking did the trick since they weren't dusted or otherwise had their bodies poofed away.  This also allowed for a sequel in the off chance that Frid would reprise Barnabas.
It didn't seem to matter how Dracula was dispatched in the Hammer films-- he was brought back in a different way for each sequel, but I don't recall that it was ever accomplished by an unstaking.  If you haven't seen the Hammer Dracula series but plan to, please don't read this:
In Horror of Dracula, he disintegrated after being exposed to beams of light.  This immediately freed Mina from his control.  But in Dracula, Prince of Darkness, he was brought back very cleverly (I thought) by having a bleeding body drip over his remains.  His destruction at the movie's end occurred when he fell into frozen water.  Yet, in Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, the blood of a priest revived his frozen body.  His end came when he was impaled on a crucifix, and at the coaxing of a priest he vanished into the mist.  In Taste the Blood of Dracula, it was a ritual using a cloak, a ring, some red powder, and of course the requisite blood of a victim that revived him.  But he was eventually sealed in a Church and fell onto the altar.  We see him turn to dust, but in the sequel, Scars of Dracula, I can't remember if they even bothered to address how he came back.  He was set aflame by lightning and leapt off the castle roof to his destruction at its end.  :)
This inspired the hilarious joke at the end of "Buffy vs. Dracula" in which
she restakes him and quips, "You think I don't watch your movies.  You always come back."  When his mist starts to take shape again, she warns him, "I'm standing right here!"  :D
Okay, I just got 100 geek points for even discussing this.  ;D
Even the Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons is rolling his eyes.  "Geekiest..post...EVER."

It also earned a "curse" from me.  I found it fascinating!

Uh, forgive me, Midnite, but I didn't see that as a posting of fan fiction; merely a vivid and highly amusing example of the point Penny was making. Surely a couple of paragraphs used in jest are not taboo...?

Well, I didn't remove it because it *was* brief.  But please understand where I'm coming from-- if we don't address it, everyone assumes it's okay to write funny (or not) scenes to illustrate their point, and then when the next vivid and highly amusing example is longer and we pull it, the poster is shocked and upset and the mods are accused of being arbitrary, though that's not the case at all.  Been there, Mark.  So, across the board, we remind that we don't accept fan fic.

Let's try another...

Code: [Select]
We had Chinese for dinner

You do know that all the "insert code" tags do is make the tags show up in your post, right?  A tag is the brackets plus the code between them.  What you wrote above does not test the font.  For font codes to work, you have to lose the insert code tags.  This is a test of the verdana ref font:

We had Chinese for dinner

And this is the default font:

We had Chinese for dinner
