Yes, you mustttt!

Magnus, just to clarify, Darren Gross helms the restoration project, but he is not financing it.  It's hoped that the anticipation of the Depp movie will spur Warner Bros to hold off on releasing NoDS [& HoDS] on DVD until restoration of all the footage is completed; otherwise, we may never see the release of a restored version.  :(  He said at this summer's Fest that the restoration will take at least a year to complete.  Did that help?

Gothick,

You'd love the really cool T-shirt made for the recent Fest by the fan who posts here as Evan Hanley.  It's a tribute to HAA, and the back says, "Let the Legions of the Damned Salute You."  I wish I'd taken a picture!  (I bet THAT quote raised some conservative eyebrows back then.)

Anyway, the calendar quote follows [spoiler]an uncomfortable confrontation at the Blue Whale between Joe, who is summoned from the date to be Angelique, and Maggie, who has recently visited Tom in the hospital.  Nicholas shows up to take advantage of Maggie's frustration:[/spoiler]
... Maggie is smiling broadly as she watches Nicholas pull his handkerchief off another tall drink. She protests she shouldn't, she doesn't drink that much. He says this evening they should do everything they don't normally do, break all the rules! If she hates to swim after dark, they'll swim. If she's always home till midnight, they'll stay out until dawn. The camera focuses on his eyes as he tells her he's trying to take advantage of her, and she says she doesn't believe him. ...

His shameless flirting leads to a dinner invitation, which she accepts.

Should I post those few mentions of DS from The Monster Book on here or would that infringe on copyright too much?  [ghost_tongue2]

Well, we'd prefer to avoid infringing a copyright, period.  [ghost_wink]  That said, brief excerpts (with citations), paraphrasing when possible, might get by better than quoting long passages.

I've been meaning to post these screen caps made by John_in_NC from "Next Year in Jerusalem."  It was Louis Edmonds' last role, and at age 73!

(My FTP program isn't working, so eventually these will be uploaded here as a replacement, which is my explanation for posting the one OT attachment and I'm sticking to it.  :))

I think it would cool to save these threads and see if we get any right when the movie is cast.

Oh, they're not going anywhere.   [ghost_grin]

LOL, Lydia!

Yeah I don't even know if antidepressants were around in that era?!

Antidepressants were indeed prescribed in the DS era (MAOIs and tricyclics), but the SSRIs suggested in this topic (Zoloft, Paxil, Seroquel) were not; you might recall that Prozac was the first in the late 80s, so they're all off topic for a discussion of the original series.  (Though no one need apologize.  :))

Googling "history of antidepressants" will tell more to anyone interested.

Honestly. How many times has Angelique turned over a new leaf?

That's a great question!

Current Talk '08 II / Re: a REAL Dark Shadows music box?
« on: August 19, 2008, 05:28:03 PM »
I'm part of this DS Revival forum and we had a thread just like this one...so this one person came on and gave us pics of a box that looks almost identical to the revival but would not say where he/she purchased it!

So maybe you guys can help???

Wouldn't say where s/he purchased it?

The music box prop is actually a composite of the jewel box lid seen in your photo and a much heavier music box with a hinged lid that was electroplated to match.  So the lid is identical (it's a great find!) to the very top part only.  Hope that helped.

OK, going out of character
