Some conversations with Sky, aka a man of action--

Jeb:  "She won't remember anything when she wakes up."
...
Carolyn:  "Did I have another bad dream?"
Assuming that Jeb caused Carolyn to lose the memory of seeing his monstrous self rather than it being caused by the shock itself, wasn't it a huge mistake to let her remember any part of that horribly incriminating dream?

Jeb:  "She's attracted to Jeb Hawkes, and she will be attracted to Jeb Hawkes."
 [snow_huh]

Jeb was able to get a launch to the mainland during the storm, but Angelique couldn't get one back to the island?  I know-- choppy waters can wreak havoc on a hairdo, but for all she knows, Liz (who is oh so close to remembering) is there with Sky.

Liz:  "It looked like a wolf, but it walked upright like a man."
Bruno:  "And wore clothes like a man."
Well, Bruno walks upright and has the manners of a wolf and clothes that look like an animal.  ;)

And is it really a good idea to go wolf hunting while wearing bunny fur?  Werewolf-- Be vewwy vewwy quiet. I'm hunting wabbits.

Angelique is on a wild goose chase, Liz wears a mink collar and Jeb's is sheepskin, Bruno is in his rabbit coat and the werewolf has a gunshot wound.  I hope PETA wasn't watching this episode!!

After crashing through the window, Alex Stevens knocked over a burning candleabra.  I hope the FDNY wasn't watching this episode!!

Selby VO.

That was Michael Stroka in a Quentinless episode.  :(

Bruno's hair is out of control but Michael had beautiful thick hair!

Oh he does.  And doesn't it keep getting bigger as the story progresses?

Quote
Well that was very nice of Barney too move the furniture so the werewolf could jump through the window! Very nice of him indeed!  ;)

HA HA!

I've been wondering about the Leviathans' supposed great need for some being who can travel in time.   If they can't get to the 20th century without Barnabas, how can Strack (?) show up at a Collinsport bar circa 1949?   How can they be influencing things right and left in the 'present day', before Barnabas returns--- Sky's career, etc.?   Is that some trick of time, where once Barnabas had done it, they also were able to mess with time, perhaps going back to 1949 "after" Barnabas returned?

I think the Leviathan beings take on that humanoid form for our benefit, but we've seen that they're capable of moving through time and intervening in the lives of their human followers.  Yet apparently they needed Barnabas to carry the box containing the Leviathan spirit (which is capable of converting new followers), the book, and Jeb's essence, back to 1969.

I don't have much to add, except that my dog was visibly upset by Nancy Barrett's multiple screams.

Did anyone else imagine Sky and Angelique singing, "You are my wife.  Good-bye city life!"?

Lydia, who is Paul?  [winkb]

I'm so disappointed to hear that, Taeylor, though I hope you have a great time in Philly.

If Carolyn's philosophy of life could be put into words, I think it would be: "I'm okay with anything or anybody if it helps the story move along smoothly, otherwise I'm very skeptical."

That's marvelous!!

OMG, it does!  Which is why my result is a little scary:

You Are Alice

You are curious, brave, and inquisitive. You can't help but be interested in the world around you.
You are a bit of a loner and a total daydreamer. Your inner world is very colorful and vivid.

At times, your real life seems dull and completely unbearable. You wish you could escape to a whole other world.
While you have a wild spirit, you are quite gentle and polite. You tend to observe more than act - and you tread lightly.

Did this ep set a record for most movies ripped off?  Much has been said in fandom about the flower legend taking its inspiration from Werewolf of London, and since the poem from The Wolfman was presented here with only minimal alterations, not to mention that the wolf's aversion to silver also came up, I can't help but wonder how they missed showing the panicked Jeb draped in wolfsbane.  But then, Sabrina's declaration that she's somehow special-- the only person that Chris in werewolf form won't harm, and the only one that can save him that night-- had me thinking why does that sound familiar?  But then I remembered Cristina in Hammer's The Curse of the Werewolf, fiancee to the cursed Leon.  Now I haven't seen it a few years, but as I recall, as Leon waited alone one night for the moon to rise and as he felt the transformation coming on, his beloved Cristina showed up and ignored his pleas to leave, and because of what happened next, Leon came to believe that Cristina was the only person who could help him.  Cristina/Sabrina, is that a coincidence?

And in the midst of all this Collinsport craziness, Barnabas answered a call from Angelique and suddenly we're in I Married a Witch.

What did seem unique was Jeb's claim that if a werewolf is killed while in human form, he would become an animal forever.  Then if you were to cut off Chris' hand, would it turn into a paw?

The way that Jeb described the long-ago Leviathan/werewolf conflict made the werewolves sound like a race, perhaps one that could change back and forth at will?  I don't know, but it didn't sound like the cursed humans that we've seen on DS.

Beans spilled to Jeb on phone, about Carolyn at Ang's...  end.

I'd forgotten that a big clue is given in the ep about the caller's identity.

Why on earth didn't Angelique take down that ghastly portrait of her before Elizabeth and Carolyn arrived?  They saw it often when Vicky owned it.

But what would she tell Sky to explain its absence?

Lara made laugh my head off when she screamed.

Don't you mean Lisa?

How does David get downstairs? Would Liz be lugging the wheelchair around for him?

He gets around on crutches too and uses them on the stairs.  But having the wheelchair upstairs does mean that somebody-- probably one of the unseen servants-- carried it up for him.

There will be a brief respite while I ooo and ahh over Selby being in this episode. Isn't he dreamy?

There's boredom, and there's excruciating boredom.  This was the latter thanks to overacting by KLS, the introduction of a side story that called for Chris to take an absurdly dangerous gamble (even for him), and while I realize that at this point the writers were beyond caring, I was annoyed by these silly mistakes--

Barnabas:  "[Maggie's] overnight bag-- have you ever seen it before?"
Julia:  "No, I don't think so."
Oh please.  That little blue suitcase gets passed around Collinwood almost as much as sedatives.  Take the episode earlier in the Chris-as-werewolf storyline where Julia handles its contents and tells Carolyn that it's proof that Amy didn't run off on her own.

Sabrina:  "I look different, don't I, Chris? Older. I was afraid you wouldn't want to see me. You never came to me."
Actually, he did, and she got so worked up about it that she collapsed.  I think it was only the one time, but he saw her with the white hair and while she was at her worst, so I don't even see a reason to be apologetic now that she has cleaned up so nicely.

So now we have Barnabas, Julia, and Maggie against the world!

You forgot Quentin?!!

Quote
Was the flower mechanical??

I'm guessing they used stop-motion.

I must commend Julia on her intestinal fortitude.  She refrained from throwing up when Barnabas said, with a sickeningly sappy smile on his face, "We have a new ally, and we must protect her!"

Sabrina's moon poppy story was puzzling.  A journal - apparently a reputable one - published an article on lycanthropy.  The man who had written the article (I think he wrote it, unless I lost track of what Sabrina was saying) had exactly one moon poppy, and he mailed it to Sabrina.  (The journal was published in England, but I can't remember if Sabrina stated where the moon poppy was sent from.)  I think Sabrina must have told the moon poppy provider that it was for a werewolf, or why would he have been willing to send her this one-of-a-kind plant?  But if he believes that Sabrina knows a werewolf, why didn't he bring the moon poppy personally?  He's been studying werewolves; surely he would like to see one in the flesh.  The only reason I can imagine is that he's already seen a few, so they're nothing new to him.

I think the entire journal was the author's work on Lycanthropy.  Maybe one can assume that the flower arrived from England since the source material was Werewolf of London, but who knows?  Anyway, it does seem very odd that the author would ship his sole specimen to Sabrina, especially when he's not aware if another plant exists  But perhaps even odder, how was the blooming timed to take place exactly on the full moon?  Unlike WoL, this was not made clear-- Sabrina only said that the flower blooms while the moon is shining; it was not called the full moon poppy.

The opening slide of Collinwood is backwards again.

Were there no wolves in that part of the country in 1970?

Is this how Bruno extracts information from a woman?  He yells at her to tell him what she knows, holds a knife in the vicinity of her throat for a few seconds, and after listening to her sputter a little, gives up?  He made a speech about how he wouldn't hesitate to kill and got permission to get rid of Maggie once he got what he wanted, so there was no need to be gentle with her, but the only effective thing he did was, as Magnus said, scare her with words and then he reported back that he "tried everything, nothing did any good."  Anyway, I know I'm more familiar with the sadistic Aristede, who apparently carried his mutilation devices with him on the road and had no qualms about knocking a woman unconscious, but as an enforcer (his animal cruelty aside), Bruno seems to be all talk and no action.

Regarding his face makeup, could the intent have been that he had gypsy blood?  Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we ever learn this Bruno's last name.

Was that fur coat of Bruno's previously worn by Olivia Corey?

Don't think so.  Olivia wore mink.  Bruno wore Thumper.  [winkb]  But he may have tried to emulate her in another way, cuz I saw some seriously mascara'd lashes.
