Patti,

No, for the time being guests can't read nor post until they log on.

What you're seeing listed as guests are either registered members before they've logged in or guests that are registering or considering registration.  If you were to log yourself out at the end of your session, you'd see yourself listed as a guest at the bottom of the board when you first return too.

Hi VWR,

I'm SO sorry it took so long before either of us got back to you.  I know what happened wasn't intentional and I can certainly understand the mistake, but it unfortunately happened at probably our busiest time ever with administrating these boards-- and I'm including the day the forums launched!  Of course, it was also not a good time for it to happen to you either because it coincided with the board's temporary inaccessibility to guests, but it's great that you were able to get reregistered in the meantime.  Anyway, I hope you'll accept my apology for the delay.

So if you're reading this, hopefully it means you've successfully logged back in as VictoriaWintersRox.  Your 2nd membership was deleted so that your yahoo addy could be entered into your VWR profile in place of the Compuserve address (the system doesn't allow membership email addresses to be used twice), which is why Sean_Collins is now showing up as a guest.  I had hoped the 8 posts attributed to SC could've been transferred over, but I didn't think you wanted to wait any longer before regaining access to your original username.

If you have any questions at anytime, please don't hesitate to email MB or me at <Midnite@dsboards.com> and <MysteriousB@dsboards.com>.  Thanks!

What did I do wrong to quote Mark?

Patti,

Either leave intact what the system automatically adds when you click "Quote", including all numbers, letters, and symbols, which in this instance will look like this
Code: [Select]
That's easy. Just look at all the women around him giving him the eye and wondering "Boxers or briefs?"
or surround his text with this
Code: [Select]
That's easy. Just look at all the women around him giving him the eye and wondering "Boxers or briefs?"
In other words, you can trim the text that you're quoting, but the code has to be exact in order for the quote window to show up correctly.

'S okay.  Without the benefit of faces to go with names, it can get downright confusing around here.

If the spellchecker considers "hee hee" to be foreign that I can't imagine what it thinks of "LOL". ;)

PS: Why does the spell checker keep switching to Danish???????? ?!?

If left alone, the language should stay on English despite flashing "Danish" for a split second, or at least that's been my experience.  Is it switching to Danish permanently for you?

Congrats on your new computer!

It was great seeing Tony back, and the kiss he planted on Carolyn was damn nice! I guess she?s ready to forgive him for his "attraction" to Cassandra, but will she? Or will the Tony-Carolyn relationship just fade away?

Wasn't this Tony Peterson's last appearance? I can't be sure without MB's montage to tell me if this was a farewell performance.

I still think Jerry Lacy is kinda hot. It would be a shame if we don't see him again til 1897. :(

I've heard NB was sick that day, and thinking about it that would be the only explanation that I can think of since she was in the episode the day before and I would think the writers of DS would've tried to accomendate NB if she was doing a play or something.

Actually, today's ep with Diana Walker was taped out of sequence. Here are the taping dates for current eps:

#574 - August 29
#578 - August 30 with Diana Walker
- weekend -
#580 - September 2
#577 - September 3 with Nancy Barrett
#575 - September 4
#576 - September 5 with Nancy Barrett
#579 - September 6
- weekend -
#581 - September 9 with Nancy Barrett

Weird, huh?

I posted my 2 cents on the 1000th montage.
It isn't there:(
(In fact, yesterday I went to "go to last 10 Patti posts" and it's no where).

Hmmm, I wonder if it was posted during the time the domain went down yesterday.  I was in the process of replying to an IM and though I clicked send, it just hung there until I realized that oops, we had a problem.

Anyway, I'll let MB know that you tried to submit a reply to that topic.

Why can't a non-user get on?

That's explained in The Reason There Have Been Access Problems, which is stuck to the top of the Current Talk board.

Why the new look (ie gray/gray instead of pink/gray for alternativing posts)?

I addressed that just now in Love the New Look, also on this Testing board.

Yep.  We have taken over your computer, dear.

Just kidding in that last part!!!

and, since it's past 2 o'clock Thursday, MB, what's the answer for the 1000th montage?

Knowing MB as I do, the other problems taking up all his/her time on the boards will be resolved soon and an announcement will be made concerning the 1000th montage.  Sorry to make you wait. :(

MB,
I hate to bother you about this, but.....what exactly is cache? I have no clue what it even is, let alone how to clear it. How do I do this? I am computer illiterate-You would think someone who has taken semesters of computer classes would know these things, but not I. All I seem to know is Word, PowerPoint, and Excel-which isn't much help here!  :(

-Lindsey, who is confused out of her mind right now  ?!?

Poor Lindsey!

Okay, there's a topic that right now is at the bottom of this board's page 1 (but please check the top of page 2 if it's not there by the time you read this)-- it's called "DS Boards 'Offline'??"", and if you scroll down to MB's post you'll see a detailed explanation for clearing your particular browser's cache.  IIRC, MB added the procedure for AOL users a little further down.  It's a very good idea to clear your cache periodically anyway, so consider this a good thing. :)

I'll explain.  The change in the way the talk boards display was initially an accident that occurred when the archive was readied to debut, and as MysteriousB set out to correct it, some posters were saying they liked the new look so it was held off, but now, obviously, we see that not everyone likes it.  So we talked about it, and it looks like we're leaning toward putting it back the way it was, but for now MB is up to the eyeballs in getting the archives to work for everyone, so I have to ask for your patience in waiting for the look of the discussion boards to get top priority again.

One of the reasons that the Members' Archives sat for some time up until their debut is that MB spent a lot of time and energy tweaking them until they were as secure as they can get so that fans will feel comfortable sharing their material, and we're very proud of its security features.  Did I mention that the material in the archives is very secure? ;)  Anyway, because the script intended for the archives was inadvertently uploaded for the discussion boards-- as I mentioned above-- the result is that you're not able to C & P.  So once again, I can only ask that you be patient until these boards can be changed back.

I can highlight and copy the text using Netscape at work, but it's a moot point since Netscape at work won't allow me to post to the forum. All I get for a message field is a little square that doesn't allow any type to be input.

That's what occurs with old versions of Netscape, but an update will take care of that, Mark, I puh-romise!

I love The Prisoner!

Vlad, Patrick McGoohan played a government agent who resigns and finds himself drugged and kidnapped.  He awakens in a place called "The Village" that's actually a prison where everyone is known by a number and is under continuous surveillance.  There's a constantly changing #2 (though Leo McKern played him more than once) each attempting to find out why he wants to quit, and McGoohan's character (who's known as #6 yet struggles to maintain his identity and sanity, thus the quote "I am not a number!") attempts throughout to both escape and to learn the identity of #1.  And the touches of 60s culture are a hoot!
