Ouch, mspeel007!

Is it still okay to have stagehands, crew members & wobbling sets breaking the 4th wall in fill-ins?

Whatever is in the pic is fair game.

I hope it was clear I wasn't saying you can't talk about what's really happening in the capture.

Aristede to Angelique:  "Let me breathe."
As mentioned before, if you're not able to breathe then you're not able to talk.

Beth told Edward that Quentin hadn't been home since the night before, and soon after Quentin tells her, "There was a full moon again last night. ... When the dawn came, I made the transformation. To this."  This indicates that the following occurred between daybreak and 11 p.m., at the most a period of 18 hours:
  • MORNING:  Edward witnessed Quentin's transformation and followed Judith to the cemetery where she was possessed by Minerva, Evan's face reverted and Judith attacked him at Collinwood, Gregory and Evan hatched their plot.
  • EVENING: Gregory visited Evan, Edward urged Greg to get an annulment, Evan conjured a version of Minerva to stalk Judith and Greg locked Judith in her room.
  • NIGHT:  Magda visited the jail and Barnabas set Quentin's escape in motion, Magda visited Judith, Quentin found himself at Collinwood but was chased away, Evan arrived with papers and Judith was convinced to sign them, Minerva was dismissed, Judith was taken to the tower room, Gregory and then Quentin visited Evan, Aristede showed up, Quentin summoned Angelique at the Old House, Angie visited Evan, Angie tricked Aristede.
  • 9 PM:  Beth found Quentin, Edward invited Angelique and Victor to stay at Collinwood.
  • 11 PM:  Angelique brought the hand to the Old House.
Whoa!  And it means that Judith went from distracted to psychotic break in the same day.  Pretty wild, huh?

We also learn in this ep that Angelique's last name is DuVal.

What would possess Angelique to marry Quentin?  His looks?  To try to make Barnabas jealous?  There should be some kind of motivation. Considering how she has gone through the centuries reminding Barnabas that she is his wife,  she should take her marriage vows more seriously

Good point about her vows.  In time, Angelique does reveal her reason for wanting Quentin-- reasons, actually.

they were so careful NOT to take Jenny to one to hide their deep dark secret of insanity in the family – now after a short time they’re carting Judith off).  Considering the reputation of mental hospitals at the time (which has been pretty well covered in various topics about Jenny), I can’t say I blame her.

Wouldn't Jenny have been sent to an [insane] asylum?  I could be wrong, but I thought a sanitarium in those days referred to a specialized hospital.  Maybe the family could say that Judith took Carl's death very hard so she checked herself in at the sanitarium to get some much-needed rest, whereas it would be more difficult to explain Jenny's prolonged stay at an asylum.

(and she actually used the servants staircase for a change).
Beth's room has always been beyond that entrance under the staircase.  [ghost_wink]

Terry Crawford had an even longer "vacation" than David Selby did. I just checked: her break lasted 12 episodes, and his break lasted 11 episodes. Only one day longer? Gosh, I thought it was a longer break than that! [ghost_rolleyes]

Wait, wasn't #771 her last ep before this?  That's 22 eps.

The episode (called "Heartbeats") repeats tonight on CBS at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Magnus,

Could you please not mix characters with actors in your fill-ins?  I.e., it would be Henesy who sees Frid's script on the floor, or Petofi/Jamison who sees something left behind by Barnabas.

Unlike Sally and Jeannie, I don't care at all for Quentin's recitation of the spell to summon Angelique.  We know he can capably handle an incantation-- his plea to Osiris ("Let her burn for your glory!") comes to mind.  But here... he just sounds asthmatic.

I do love how Petofi's hand was introduced into the conversation between Angelique and Evan-- by a mention of an ordinary hand via her line, "In no time at all, Reverend Trask will be eating out of my hand," by her arm gesture as she said it, and by Evan's stunned reaction to both.

Also love Angelique's fancy dress, which I'm guessing was conjured up because it's not the type usually found in an Old House trunk.  Unless it's a trunk that once belonged to Pansy Faye.

Angelique calls herself a puppeteer.  It would make one wonder, if she were not behind everything going on, if only the writers were that advanced in their storytelling as Sam Hall wants people to remember him.
Ooh, very interesting, alwaysdavid.  Angelique does seem to relish pulling other peoples' strings.

Another little poppet --- she does have this routine down pat
Indeed, as MB's screengrabs demonstrate from #370 and when the puppeteer scene is repeated #793:

She's even recycling Barnabas' toy soldier!

And we get one of ProfStokes' pet peeves-- a choking Aristede who can still speak.

I thought Evan was very inconsiderate of Quentin, as usual, when he refused to admit that he had the Hand and wouldn't explain how his face got back to normal again.

Evan did say that it just happened on its own, though obviously he lied about the rest.  But if his face reverted spontaneously, why didn't it happen that way for Quentin too?  Maybe Evan did some hocus pocus to fix it, though why wouldn't he admit that?  He's not one who can control the hand, so it can't be that.  Ack, another plot hole?

[milestone] This ep ends the first half of the 1897 story.  Yay, the halfway point.  And arguably, with the introduction of Aristede, it also marks a major turning point-- one that many fans might consider the point at witch the storyline starts to collapse under its own weight.  [rleyeb]

It also has the final appearance of Minerva.  Clarice's future appearances will be too few and far between.

A camera is visible behind Evan in the drawing room.

Edward needs to stay at home more.  I'm just sayin'.

A gun totin' Reverend!

Minerva:  "Does this bustle make my butt look big?"
J/K  [winkb]

Gregory to Evan:  "Master of Collinwood. With this paper, no one can dispute it."
later:  "I am ... sole guardian of the estate.  Unless your paper has a loophole in it."
Judith was under the influence of a fast-acting sedative when she signed-- one that Greg administered.  I don't know about 1897, but nowadays that contract wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on.

I think the voice that says "Jesus" belongs to Jerry Lacy.  And I hear at least one other female voice and it sounds an awful lot to me like Joan Bennett.

As Judith is led to the tower room, she's hearing voices.  But how interesting that although she mistakes the conjured Minerva for a servant, she believes the woman is warning her to beware of early Spring berries because they might be poisonous.  Since nightshade berries are most poisonous while they're unripe (did not know that til I just now looked it up), is Judith recalling what the real specter of Minerva previously told her, or is the real Minerva still getting through to her now?

Replay of Quentin entering Collinwood through a wide open front door.  Unlocked is bad enough, but wide open?

Hmm, I'm sure Quentin opened it himself both times.

Did anyone else notice he reversed the lyrics?  He said calling me to you, not calling you to me.

Thanks!  I noticed it didn't rhyme with falling silently and thought WTH?

Hmm, that line of hers, “she thinks I stole from her”.  Apparently she thinks she stole Minerva’s husband – or she  may just be remembering Jenny’s green dress.    [laughing_devil]

LOL  I'm glad the voiceover explained that Judith "has a name she feels no right to."  Thank you, Vi.

And Sy Thomashoff is apparently taking a break, replaced by John Dapper.

For a brief moment I thought good for Judith!  After being locked in with Conjure-Wife Minerva, she got in her face and told her, "You won't get me."

This policeman, unlike the last one, knows who Edward Collins is.  It was awfully ballsy of Barnabas to bite him into unconsciousness but (I'm assuming) not so much that he created another vampire.  (If he could close in to bite him, why didn't he just use hypnosis?)  Interesting that this speaking part didn't earn the actor a spot in the credits.  Does anyone know his name?

I like Magda's sea-green shawl.  And it's interesting to hear her talk about being a world traveler.

Luckily for Quentin and Barnabas, there was only 1 full moon night this month.

Gregory to Judith:  "Minerva used to sit for hours on end-- stitch, stitch, stitch."
For some reason that just kills me.

Gregory, again:  "She still seems sew real to me. Sew close. Sew very close."
Sorry.  I'm easily entertained.

ANOTHER badly telegraphed slap, with a sound cue that seemed off.
It seemed when Trask slapped Judith that the timing was off.
When Trask slapped Judith, the sound effect was late.  [rofl10]

PLEASE read the other posts in the topic before adding any comments of your own to insure that you're not merely repeating them.  This is actually a standard rule on most posting boards.

Hmm interesting that Judith says she hasn;t done much sewing.  In more than one scene we see her in front of a big embroidery frame in the drawing room, (Or maybe that's later in the storyline?  I don't remember exact scene, but I do remember the very authentic looking embroidery frame.)

I thought that was odd too.  The scenes came early in the storyline; I'm pretty sure one of them was just before the reading of the will.

They call him the Play-Doh Playboy.
