I don't think he pulls the plug out - I think he just pulls the back off.  [snow_cheesy]

Ah, okay then, that makes more sense, thanks! (egg on my face  [snow_blush]  )

I just watched the trailer from Ellen.
I did not like the choice of soundtrack music they played. I like the songs on their own, but not paired with the images I saw on the screen. It sounded too upbeat for me, and it didn't suit the look of the film.
The cinematography looks beautiful, rich, expensive, and then they play some cheesy Barry White song??? Where's Robert Colbert's exquisite music and grand orchestra?
I don't like the humor, but I found the type of one-liners they showed to be on the sarcastic side which is tolerable.
Unfortunately, the trailer did not make me want to see the film. It's does not look like the type of film I want to see.
I'll wait to read the reviews from people who go to see it, or I can wait for it to come out on DVD.

Victoria's got Carolyn's hair-flip? Is that what that's called? I like it.

by 1972 the "flip" was decidedly passe. carolyn stopped wearing it in 1968.

so combined with the extremely girlish frocks i'm wondering if it's a deliberate attempt to make vicki look sort of "square"? or overly naive? or otherwise somehow not really "with it".

just thoughts.

I hope so, mc. Vicky is old-fashioned, traditional, conservative, wide-eyed, slightly naive and maybe square is a good word too. So far, Bella looks great as Vicky.

I  watched the trailer 3 times. I liked it. The scene with Barnabas and the TV is hysterical. We have to give this a chance. Going back to the 19991 remake, I loved it, several of my than DS friends hated  that also.I look forward to seeing this.I am very willing to give this film a chance.

They should consider changing the name to "Light Shadows".

I guess I'm in the minority who enjoyed the trailer.  I was struck by the inspired choice of Deliverance as the movie at the theater in Collinsport, given that it's a story of a group of outsiders coping with a society that they have trouble understanding.

I'd like to echo the thoughts of others about how appalling it is for people to argue over who is or is not a "real" fan.  As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and just because I may or may not like something doesn't make it wrong for others to feel differently.  If this movie brings new fans to Dark Shadows and a fraction of them go back and watch the original series or the 1991 revival, I think that's a good thing.  What's more, nothing that this movie does is going to change any of the prior art.  If your preference is for the original series, it will continue to be available on DVD, streaming or whatever new medium becomes available.  In fact, the restored versions of HODS and NODS may not have happened if not for this latest effort.

Maybe the best analogy is the Tolkien movies that Peter Jackson has made.  There are plenty of Tolkien enthusiasts who are unhappy with the LOTR trilogy.  The thing is, it introduced a whole new generation to Tolkien's works, who then can judge for themselves what they think of Jackson's movies.  I guess I fail to see how that's ultimately a bad thing.

I will most definitely see the movie when it comes out.  I seriously hope that it lives up to my expectations, and I hope that it is successful enough that it ultimately leads to additional movies.  I would prefer to continue to hear stories of the Collins family rather than think that this could be their swan song.

The scene with Barnabas and the TV is hysterical.

My fiance and I (he also loves DS - and is a second generation fan like me) thought that was hysterical too! I've also watched the trailer over and over....lol
We're not sure how the film is going to be (good or bad,) but we are willing to give it a chance too. :) [snow_smiley]
