Well the good news is that we are just a tweet away from hearing about a development. TPTB have really clamped down since production ended (outside of HBC). I think even the writer at MTV is also surprised at the dearth of information when he promised a weekly DS movie article which cousin Gothick and raised earlier. In a weird way I hope we don't get everything at once. This way we will have more time discussing each development but at this point I will take anything and everything. I guess typically a teaser comes first.

    • Johnny Depp Rocks!
Your theory about putting together a special effect is a good one, MB.  Alternatively, like I think I theorized here before, they just may have wanted to get the distraction of the holidays out of the way.  Yeah, so now we're a few days into the new year, so what's keeping them? ;)  But IF my theory has any credibility, maybe we'll be seeing something imminently.

As an aside, I'm also a longtime diehard fan of a rock musician, for whom there have been rumors this past fall about a new album and tour this spring.  The management eventually had to confirm the tour because some European concerts have already gone on sale, but it seems like they were deliberately refraining from giving any news yet about the album and US tour before the holidays.  Now that they're over, of course, everyone is on pins and needles waiting to hear something any minute!  So it's funny to see the parallels and I'm just continuing to hope that with the new year, there will be new news!

All great insight, cousins!  And terrific analysis on both counts, MB.

And Shadows is certainly popping up in a lot of places...

Yes I agree good job cousins. It is good to see the DS movie receiving good publicity especially when there really hasn't been any.
The writer here says that a successful DS movie could lead to more soap projects as it is the year of the soaps:  http://www.welovesoaps.net/2012/01/yearofthesoap2.html

Well, add The Insider to the list of shows doing a piece on the upcoming films of 2012 and not mentioning DS. Though in this case it's probably just as well that DS wasn't featured because half the time they have no idea what they're talking about. For example, according to their piece tonight, What To Expect When You're Expecting is opening May 20th - and while the announcer was saying that, the graphic on the screen said it was opening June 1st. And you'll notice that neither of those dates is May 11th. And I mean, the 20th is on a Sunday. Movies never open on a Sunday unless the Sunday happens to be Christmas. And so far as I know, we won't be celebrating Christmas again on May 20th. And if their seeming inability to get things right isn't bad enough, the show can be so tabloid that I often feel like I need to take a shower after even just fast forwarding through it. The only reason I even record it is just on the off chance that something related to DS might pop up...

So true!

Odd thing about that is I read somewhere else that it would be released May 13, Mother's Day...  It's like no one knows the date!

I was just reading over at the IMDB boards, which I try not to do too often [santa_tongue], and one poster said that we wouldn't see a trailer until March.  He did not say where he got his information from.  It just seems silly that it would take that long.  If they want to build this film to be the blockbuster (and franchise) it could be, we ought to be seeing a lot of promotional material this whole year...  At this rate, we'll probably see Barnabas action figures before we see a trailer.  (At least I hope we see Barnabas action figures!   [santa_wink])  But, I am still hoping for a poster this month.  Maybe a trailer (even a teaser) before Valentine's day.  There's a number of horror-themed works coming out...  Maybe with one of those.

I don't know if you guys and gals care or not but http://www.comingsoon.net/movies.php lists an offical website for the movie http://www.darkshadowsthemovie.com/ Just go to the release date and click on Dark Shadows. When I went there all I got was a "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. I don't know if it's my computer or if the page isn't up yet. If it isn't it should be soon. I'd love to know if you all can get it to work.
May you die before you want too.

Thanks, borgosi!  That is really interesting...  I was wondering if we would be getting a .warnerbros address or a complete website, and, if that is accurate, it looks like we're getting a complete website.  And that most likely means...  a viral campaign.  So...  Let the game begin, Warners.

I get the same error. And I doubt that will be the URL for the "official" Web site because all of Warner Brothers' films seem to have a specific type of URL. For example, Harry Potter's is harrypotter.warnerbros.com and Batman's is thedarkknight.warnerbros.com. So the official site for DS should be http://darkshadows.warnerbros.com - and that site isn't available either.

Now, someone also connected to the film could be planning http://www.darkshadowsthemovie.com/ - but if they are, apparently the site isn't up and running.

Thanks for sharing the info, though.  [santa_smiley]  It may yet pan out...

MB,

This is the address for the official website of The Dark Knight:

http://www.thedarkknightrises.com/

There is no .warnerbros.  This is because there will most likely be a viral campaign tied to its marketing, and it needs easy access, which could be the same for Dark Shadows.

HarryPotter.com redirects to the subdivision of the Warners site, which could also be what happens with Shadows.  But, for the sake of marketing, DarkShadowstheMovie.com could very well be the official address.   [santa_smiley]
