She enters the living room, checks the window and finds it locked, too, and she can't seem to unlock it. She continues to look around the room, finding another door, which she rattles and finds locked, too. She hears the tinkling music from Josette's music box, then Nicholas Blair's voice, which she doesn't recognize. She says she's never been to this house before, but he says of course she has, look around! She asks, "Where are you? Please let me go!" He tells her she can go as soon as she tells him who he is and where she is. She knows neither, and he says then she must stay. She shakes her head, upset. The music grows louder, and she begs him to stop it. Where would you hear Josette's music box? he asks. The Old House, she replies. And that's where you are, Nick's voice tells her, but she denies that. He tells her to think harder, remember what happened--she left Collinwood to come to the Old House to see "me". You aren't Barnabas, says Vicki, and he says to think again--she's in the Old House, isn't she? Vicki is unsure, and he tells her to try to cooperate or he won't be able to help her. Does she know who he is yet? She thinks so--Barnabas. Splendid he praises her. Where are you? he asks, and she replies, "The Old House." When she leaves, she will go to Collinwood, she says, because Jeff is waiting for her and she's late. He tells her to go home, hurry, she doesn't want Jeff to start worrying, does she? He tells her to go to the door, open it, and return to Collinwood. "Back to Collinwood," repeats Vicki, and exits easily through the front door. Nicholas and Angelique, grinning, observer her departure, Nick very proud of himself indeed.

Grandmother didn't approve of showing emotion, says Judith; she believed in going on and holding one's head up high (that explains much about the Collinses)!--I must act as she would want me to, even though everything else is wrong--do you believe in the hereafter? He turns the question back to her--do you? I sometimes wish not, confesses Judith; if she's watching us, how distressed she must be--I don't believe anyone took the will--she just didn't put it where she said she would. Barnabas admits he has considered the possibility someone took it. Judith asks, why would HE take it? Barnabas calls her on that "he." She begs him to tell her, if he knows, who took it.

The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And the first "must" line in the excerpt does indeed come up in the scene, so no doubt it will show up in a future installment of the slideshow.

And this quote sets another bigger again because it's the tenth time a sixth quote from the same ep has appeared in the slideshow, joining Eps #66, #377, #384, #449, #550, #646, #727, #915 & #993!!. The first (Judith - 'I suppose I MUST look at her, MUSTN'T I?') was back on May 7th of 2020, the second (Quentin - 'You MUST be able to hear it now. You MUST!') was back on October 24th of 2020, the third (Judith - 'You MUST remember-- on Grandmother's hand in the coffin.') was back on September 17th of 2021, the fourth (Beth - It MUST') was back on July 30th of 2022, and the fifth (Judith - 'This will upset Edward very much-- I MUST tell him at once') was back on October 1st of 2022.

And just a reminder, we've seen a notation similar to "Ep #709 (1897[-1841PT])" before and in that case it meant that the quote should have come from an 1841PT ep, but because there are no longer any 1841PT eps that haven't been quoted from, an alternate version of DS is being used instead. In this case that alternate version is the 1897 storyline and a quote from its Ep #709 is being used.

She turns and finds another letter from Joanna: "I am coming for you now, but please do not be afraid--what I must do I do with love--your sister, Joanna."  Daphne holds the letter in both hands and calls to Joanna--are you here?--please don't hurt me--help me!  The front doors blow open, scaring Daphne, who walks over to close them.  Thunder rolls.  Daphne finds her sister's cape on the floor-Joanna, why are you doing this? she cries, please, don't you understand, you can help me, please help me--let me have the love you had--if anything is going to destroy me, can't it be that love?

--why must it be you?--Joanna, please, can you hear me--please help me!  She hears a door opening upstairs and, terrorized, runs into the drawing room and closes the doors, covering her face with her hands.

DAWN: ...                                                As they help him toward the stairs, someone knocks.  They take Barnabas to his room and cover him with blankets. Julia tells Willie to answer the door.  He goes downstairs and brusquely asks Patterson, Woodard and Roger what they want.  Willie reports Barnabas is asleep.  Patterson says its important - get him.  Woodard adds, "Before he leaves for Boston or Portland... It seems he's always away when somebody wants to see him... particularly during the day."  Willie insists that Barnabas is there.  Woodard again demands he wake Barnabas, wanting to be let in.  Julia joins them, to Woodard's surprise. She explains Willie got her early this morning - "Barnabas is ill."  Woodard points out it's odd Willie didn't mention this - just that Bar- nabas was sleeping.  Julia says he is - he has a raging fever. Woodard suggests they come back later.  Julia doesn't think that's advisable.  Woodard asks, "Do you think he has the plague?  Are you quarantining the house?"  Julia coldly says she doesn't understand the nature of his questions.  Patterson insists they must talk with Barnabas - about Daphne and the others.  Julia, flatly, "Are you suggesting he's a suspect?"  Pat- terson says they just want a brief conversation.  Woodard, "Now.  In the daylight."  Patterson reluctantly produces a war- rant to search the premises.  They go inside.  Patterson asks Willie to take them to Barnabas.  Barnabas interrupts from the landing.  Weak and shaking, he is still able to move unsteadily partially down the stairs.  He says he's surprised to find three unexpected guests at this hour - "I don't remember issuing an invitation."  Roger apologizes - "Prof. Woodard had a crazy idea."  Barnabas, weakly says he'd prefer to discuss this at another time.  "As Dr. Hoffman may have informed you, I'm not at all well."  Roger again apologizes. Both he and Patterson are ready to leave, but Woodard isn't quite as convinced.  He suggests to Barnabas he might need more sunlight - "You do look awfully pale."  Barnabas agrees.  Julia and Willie watch in alarm as he slowly manages to walk to the landing, where he stands in the rays of sunlight beaming down, shaking, sweat- covered.  Julia, near panic, says this is enough and tells Willie to take Barnabas back to bed.  Willie takes Barnabas' arm and helps him upstairs.  Patterson apologizes, and offers his assis- tance - if there's anything he can do?  Julia coldly warns Michael she'll hold him responsible if anything happens to Barnabas because of this.  Woodard, "I don't know what hap- pened, Julia, but I'll find out."  Julia points out he's just seen his theory disproven.  Woodard warns her, "Don't throw your life away, Julia.  He'll destroy you.  He destroys everything he touches."  She again bids him goodbye.  Outside, a furious Pat- terson tells Woodard that he made him look like a fool.  Roger agrees. ...

The summary doesn't reference the quote directly but it does reference its circumstances. And Patterson doesn't say they "must" talk with Barnabas because he actually says they "have to" talk to him...

And as I've done previously when it comes to the '91 Series, I used a screen capture from the TGG Direct DVD release that's the same dimensions as the ones from the original series -

- because even though that release also doesn't have the correct color timing like the VHS release does -

- also like the VHS release, it has the correct aspect ratio, plus it even tends to show a bit more of the frame and it's clearer than the VHS.

And even though the MGM DVD release, like the TGG Direct release, tends to be clearer than the VHS, frustratingly, the aspect ratio is cropped from 4X3 to 16X9 -

And just a reminder, we've seen a notation similar to "DS 1991 Ep #3 (-1970)" before and in this case it means that the quote should have come from a 1995-Gerard and Daphne-Summer of '70 ep, but there aren't any more eps from that period that haven't been quoted from, so an alternate version of DS is being used instead. In this case that alternate version is the '91 DS and a quote from its Ep #3 is being used.

He sounded quite coherent') was back on July 12th.

And just a reminder, we've seen a notation similar to "Ep #1226 (1841PT[-1968/69])" before and in that case it meant that the quote should have come from an 1968/69 ep, but because there are no longer any 1968/69 eps that haven't been quoted from, an alternate version of DS is being used instead. In this case that alternate version is the 1841PT storyline and a quote from its Ep #1226 is being used.

Nathan says he doesn't hear it, is Millicent sure she isn't upset.

Dave and Burke ask to speak to David alone, so Vicki leaves the room. They gently tell him there was no coffin and David immediately becomes very upset, dismayed, adamant. There was!!!! He says he fears for his life, and thus breaks his promise to Sarah and tells them about the secret room (and another empty coffin) in the Collins mausoleum.

The Robservations falls in the period where there's little detail and, thus, the quote isn't directly referenced - in fact the circumstances under which it's delivered is barely referenced...

Another place... Another time..."  She's certain it's only because of her resemblance to his fiancee.  Barnabas, "Perhaps."  He bows as he leaves.
