If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Tuesday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Tuesday's quote:
Ep #507 (1968) - Prof. Stokes - 'Now you MUST tell me your dream from the beginning. And quickly, for I MUST have it this night.'

From "Robservations 6/5/02 - #507/508 - Stokes Intervenes"
Funeral music leads her to the next door, which contains her headstone: CAROLYN COLLINS STODDARD, BORN DEC 8, 1948, DIED JULY 15, 1968. "No!" cries Carolyn, and she awakens, screeching, "I saw my own gravestone!" "Tell me your dream!" demands Stokes.

The Robservations barely references the quote, but at least it references some of it...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Prof. Stokes - 'According to my calculations, only one more person MUST have the dream-- a woman-- and that woman may make it possible for Barnabas Collins never to have the dream') was back on October 17th of 2021, and the second (Prof Stokes - 'We MUST hope so. I am not fond of wasting time') was back on October 3rd. Apparently we love to quote Stokes from this ep!  [santa_wink] [santa_grin]  And I say "we" because Midnite may have picked this latest quote, but I picked the first two.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Wednesday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Wednesday's quote:
Ep #754 (1897) - Edward - 'We MUST get her to the house before it gets back.'

From "Robservations 1/6/03 - #754-755 - Laura Pursues Barnabas"
The werewolf leaps at Beth, who screams, but can't bring herself to kill the man she loves, even in this dangerous form.  It knocks her to the ground, which attracts the attention of Edward and Barnabas, who are nearby on the same path.  Barnabas beats the werewolf off with his cane, forcing the creature to retreat.  Barnabas asks Edward, "Have you ever seen this creature before?"  No, Edward assures him.  We must take Beth back to the house, says Edward, before it returns.  Jamison is in the woods! Beth informs them, hysterical.  Barnabas wants Edward to return to Collinwood, but Edward doesn't want Barn left alone--we need a gun, and I need your help with Beth.
I have my cane to protect me, says Barnabas.  The wolf, back on his boulder, watches, growling low in his throat.

The Robservations paraphrases a bit but references the quote well...

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Thursday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Thursday's quote:
Ep #509 (1968[-1967]) - Tony - 'You know it MUST be old. Otherwise how would it have gotten under the floor?'

From "Robservations 6/6/02 - #509/510 - Adam's New Friend/Taken to Trask"
Stokes offers him a sherry, and Tony accepts. Stokes says the cross is probably not authentic and he'll need it for a few days to test it. Tony agrees. It's used for protection against witches, says Stokes. Stokes pours the sherry, and Tony surreptitiously takes out the ring containing the poison. Stokes says he's going to get some cheese, which helps him sleep, and excuses himself to get it. Tony says he'd like some, too, and after Stokes leaves the room, empties the powder in the ring into Stokes' glass. When Stokes returns, he finds Tony examining the cross, saying he's fascinated by it--his wife thinks it's real gold. Tony's back is to the professor while he's talking to him, and Stokes urges him to come drink his sherry.
"To your antique gold Coptic cross," toasts Stokes, "may it turn out to be antique and gold for your wife's sake." They drink, Tony draining his glass in one gulp. While Stokes is prattling on about the cheese, Tony grabs his throat and begins to convulse. "Professor!" cries Tony, before falling to the floor, unconscious.

Another Robservations that doesn't reference the quote at all. However, it comes up after Stokes returns with the cheese and Tony mentions how fascinated he is by the cross and before Stokes says he will give a great deal of thought to Tony's question (another line the Robservations doesn't reference) and Tony says his wife thinks it's real gold...

It's great that Midnite was able to come across another Tony quote - that gives him three now. An interesting thing is that the same line is repeated in the Teaser of Ep #510, but in the restaged version Tony isn't on screen when he delivers it, so that's why we had to go with getting the screen capture from Ep #509 even though it's a kinescope.

And best of all it's the infamous cheese episode/scene!!  [santa_thumb] [santa_cheesy]

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Friday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Friday's quote:
Ep #644 (1968) - Roger - 'We've searched every place they could be. They MUST be outside.'

From "Robservations 9/12/02 - #643/644 - David, Amy and Quentin"
Roger, Carolyn and Liz troop downstairs. Roger is going to search the grounds, but won't let Liz--and don't phone Chris until after the kids are found, he says.

Yet another instance where the Robservations doesn't reference the quote at all. However, it comes up at the outset of the scene before Roger says he's going to search the grounds...

And this is the fourth quote from this ep. The first (Amy - 'Quentin MUST be playing that music. He MUST be someplace nearby') was back on July 6th, the second (Carolyn - 'It's Magda--she MUST want us to go someplace') was back on August 18th, and the third (David - 'Maybe he can't. Maybe we MUST go to him') was back on October 14th. So that all means that Ep #644 has joined the club with Eps #2, #3, #42, #44, #50, #52, #66, #106, #133, #195, #208, #211, #212, #296, #300, #308, #315, #365, #367, #377, #384, #426, #449, #450, #462, #466, #479, #481, #503, #543, #544, #550, #608, #609, #629, #639, #643, #646, #655, #678, #709, #727, #734, #742, #743, #746, #750, #883, #884, #886, #889, #915, #976, #977, #993, #1006, #1057, #1064, #1111, #1125, #1126, #1127, #1128, #1197 and #1199. However, not only recall that Eps #42, #44, #66, #133, #208, #211, #300, #377, #384, #449, #466, #609, #629, #646, #678, #709, #727, #734, #977, #993, #1057, #1111, & #1197 have five quotes, but Eps #66, #384, #449, #646, #727 & #993 have six quotes.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Saturday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Saturday's quote:
Ep #870 (1897) - Lady Kitty - 'No! No, I MUSTN'T respond, I MUSTN'T let him find me!'

From "Robservations 3/31/03 - Engagement; Petofi Finds What He's Searching For"
Silent a moment, Charity says, you were frightened when we found you downstairs--what was it? As soon as I came inside, says Kitty, I felt myself in danger, from someone in the house--I don't know who, I wish I did. Charity ponders it--I can't think of anyone in the house who'd want to harm you. I still feel it, says Kitty, like a presence trying to speak to me. Let it, advises Charity. No, says Kitty, terrified, I mustn't do that, must not let him find me, must resist her! You poor thing, murmurs Charity--lie down.

The Robservations doesn't reference a few bits of the quote and writes others differently, but all in all it references the quote well. Though one thing that the Rebservations has wrong is that after the quote Charity asks who Kitty is talking about and her response is "I must resist him!" not "resist her"...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Judith - 'I'm sure it was her "soul" he was interested in--he MUST have spent hours trying to find it') was back on February 4th of 2022. I love that line - Judith finally has Trask's number.  [santa_wink]

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Sunday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Sunday's quote:
Ep #975 (1970) - Bruno - 'You MUST be very quiet. Even if you have the pain, I want no screams.'

From "Robservations 6/10/03 - #974-975"
Chris checks out the window and hears a knock at the door. Sabrina is safe, Bruno assures him-- for the moment, and will be safe as long as you observe one rule--you must be very quiet, even if you have the pain, I want no screams--scream and Sabrina will pay, believe me!

The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this is the fourth quote from this ep. The first (Bruno - 'I can look at the moon and enjoy its beauty, but you, tonight, how desperate you MUST feel knowing that tomorrow it will be even more beautiful and more full') was back on January 18th of 2022, the second (Bruno - 'I have an enemy, a man who shouldn't be alive, but he is, because he's in love so his will to live is very strong. We've got to change that, you and I. We MUST destroy the person who keeps him alive!') was back on April 20th of 2022, and the third (Barnabas - 'Is there a time band running parallel to ours? Do we all live in that band as well as this one-- live differently because we have made different choices? I MUST find out') was back on May 20th of 2022. So that all means that Ep #975 has joined the club with Eps #2, #3, #42, #44, #50, #52, #66, #106, #133, #195, #208, #211, #212, #296, #300, #308, #315, #365, #367, #377, #384, #426, #449, #450, #462, #466, #479, #481, #503, #543, #544, #550, #608, #609, #629, #639, #643, #644, #646, #655, #678, #709, #727, #734, #742, #743, #746, #750, #883, #884, #886, #889, #915, #976, #977, #993, #1006, #1057, #1064, #1111, #1125, #1126, #1127, #1128, #1197 and #1199.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Monday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Monday's quote:
Ep #600 (1968) - Julia - 'Barnabas, if it's, if it's Nicholas, he MUST know about the experiment.'

From "Robservations 8/12/02 #600/601 - A Chilling Summons"
]Barnabas surmises that Cassandra had to have told Nicholas everything about the past--if he did erase Maggie's memory, he did it knowing he was helping him, and there's only one reason for that--Adam--Blair knows if Barnabas is in danger, so is Adam. Julia says if it is Nicholas, he must know about the experiment, but they need proof.

While not referencing the entire quote, the Robservations references the quote quite well...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Prof. Stokes - 'No, you MUST tell us who lives in that house) was back on November 23rd of 2020, and the second (Prof. Stokes - 'There MUST be a connection. If there were only some way of making contact') was back on April 22nd of 2021.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Tuesday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Tuesnday's quote:
Ep #367 (1795) - Jeremiah - 'You MUST be the girl who came to the house this afternoon.'

From "#0367/0368_0369: Robservations 02/22/02: Introducing Angelique"
Vicki goes to Collinwood, which is, indeed, under construction, only to find Burke Devlin's twin, Jeremiah Collins (in a magnificent powder blue waistcoat). She runs into his arms but quickly realizes this isn't Burke. She explains that the man she loved is dead, and apologizes for her mistake. He kindly tells her he's sorry he isn't who she thinks he is. She bursts into tears and he gives her his handkerchief. She introduces himself, although she can't explain where she's from. He tells her that everyone is really curious about her, and this business about her arrival in place of the other governess is really strange.

As I've pointed out before, this Robservations falls into the period where there isn't as much detail, as such it doesn't reference the quote at all, plus there's some confusion in the way the quoted section above is written and events not presented in their correct sequence. For example, Vicki bursting into tears and Jeremiah sharing his handkerchief happens before he apologizes for not being the man Vicki thought he was. Vicki asks who he is and he introduces himself as "Jeremiah Collins." Vicki responds with, "Yes, of course." And after Jeremiah asks why she said that, Vicki explains that "Mrs. Collins," being sure not to say "Mrs. Stoddard," mentioned his name. And after that is when Jeremiah delivers the quote, upon which Vicki introduces herself. And Vicki doesn't say that she can't tell him where she's from until after Jeremiah remarks about how everyone is very mystified about her and asks where she comes from...

And this is the fifth quote from this ep. The first (Abigail - 'It MUST be crushed, destroyed!') was back on August 7th of 2020, the second (Joshua - 'But you MUST understand, I am engaging you only on a trial basis. If at any time and for any reason I decide to discharge you, you MUST go immediately') was back on May 15th of 2022, the third (Jeremiah - 'The point is, Joshua, you MUST decide whether she stays or goes. That is, unless of course Abigail has taken over as head of the household') was back on February 22nd, and the fourth (Jeremiah - 'You MUST-- if you don't, you could be in real trouble') was back on August 16th.

And this ep now shares the [milestone] of a fifth quote with Eps #42, #44, #66, #133, #208, #211, #300, #377, #384, #449, #466, #609, #629, #646, #678, #709, #727, #734, #977, #993, #1057, #1111, & #1197. However, recall that there's an even bigger because Eps #66, #384, #449, #646, #727 & #993 have six quotes...

And once again for those who may not know, when Ep #367 was shown in '80s syndication it was a kinescope. The color Master Tape wasn't issued until Volume 28 of the MPI VHS tapes came out in June of 1991. The Sci-Fi Channel also ran the color version.

And as I've also mentioned previously, the day Ep #367 aired I was getting terrible over-the-air reception (which happened rarely, but it did happen.  [santa_rolleyes])  And it didn't help that some kinescopes weren't the clearest to begin with. But again, the point here is to show that it was a kinescope:

And also again, it's so interesting how much more the Master Tape shows of the frame compared to the kinescope. But then kinescopes were recorded off of TV monitors, which always cut off parts of the frame...

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Wednesday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Wednesnday's quote:
Ep #998 (1970PT) - Cyrus - 'Now, I can end my relationship with Yaeger at any time it suits me. Now, you MUST believe that.'

From "#0998/0999: Robservations 06/26/03: Mystery of Dameon; Angelique's Coffin"
Cyrus pours some stuff into a beaker, and says, when I first met Yaeger, I'd never met anyone like that before in my life--he certainly has some rough edges, the doctor admits. Quentin lays it on the line--what kind of a hold does this man have over you? What do you mean? Cyrus asks.  Whatever you say won't go beyond these doors, Quentin assures him.  I don't understand what you mean, insists Cyrus. Are you being blackmailed by Yaeger? asks Quentin. Of course not, responds Cyrus, annoyed--now listen, both of you--my relationship to Yaeger is purely professional, nothing more--I appreciate your concern, but it isn't necessary--I can end my relationship with Yaeger anytime it suits me (sounds like a man talking to himself about a drug or alcohol addiction)--you must believe that--is there anything else you wish to discuss with me?  Not tonight, says Quentin, but if I'm right about Yaeger, feel free to call on me. I appreciate that, says Cyrus, but doubt it will be necessary

The Robservations references the quote almost perfectly...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Yaeger - 'You're a persistent man, Mr. Collins, and obviously a very dedicated friend to Cyrus Longworth. He MUST appreciate it a great deal') was back on May 9th, and the second (Cyrus - 'Well, something quite exciting happened. We- we found this exciting thing and I MUST follow up with it soon') was back on May 19th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Thursday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Thursnday's quote:
Ep #1091 (1970) - David - 'Then Dr. Hoffman MUST have been right-- it MUST have been an animal!'

From "#1091/1092: Robservations 09/04/03: Carolyn Finds the Playroom"
Carrie, it's you! says David, speak to me, please, if you can! She just grins. I have a question for Gerard, but perhaps you know the answer, he says--Hallie and I were afraid Maggie learned what's happening to us, and that Gerard punished her--she was attacked in the woods--we wouldn't want anything to happen to Miss Evans--did Gerard do this to her?  All Carrie does is smile. You don't have to speak to me, he says desperately, just nod, yes or no--did Gerard do this to her? She shakes her head. Then Maggie doesn't know anything about what's happening to us? asks David.  Again, Carrie shakes her head. That's what I was hoping you'd say David says--then Dr. Hoffman must have been right--it must have been an animal!

The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Hallie - 'To question him directly. And you MUSTN'T. We've got to stay far away from him') was back on August 1st of 2020.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Friday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Friday's quote:
Ep #248 (1967) - Barnabas - 'You MUST come with me.'

From "#0247/0248: Robservations 11/15/01: Maggie Makes An Escape"
Maggie wanders into the cemetery, where, unfortunately for her, Barnabas is the one who finds her--and promptly grabs her around the throat. He drags her to the mausoleum where he opens the secret panel. "Come," he orders. She tries to run away from him, so he snatches hold of her

This Robservations is another in the little detail period and it doesn't reference the quote at all. However it comes up after Barnabas has opened the secret panel and told Maggie/Josette to come and before she...

Also things are jumbled up from the way they play in the ep because the portion of the excerpt where Barnabas finds Maggie/Josette in the cemetery and grabs her by the throat actually occurs at the end of the second scene of the Teaser, but taking her to the mausoleum and ordering her to come with him occurs as the second scene of Act I and as the beginning of Act II...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Barnabas - 'You MUST never go. Just like long ago when you tried to leave me. You MUST never leave me again') was back on July 14th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Saturday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Saturday's quote:
Ep #167 (1967) - Roger - 'Do you really expect Laura to join in on this lunacy? Why, you MUST be out of your mind!-- I wouldn't consider it!'

From "#0166/0167: Robservations 09/17/01: Sam Off the Wagon; David Home at Last"
The whole idea is preposterous and idiotic, says Roger, predictably, to Dr. Guthrie as Carolyn and Vicki stand by. And very necessary, insists the doctor. I refuse to play these parlor games! rants Roger. I can assure you, this will be no parlor game, says Guthrie. A seance, indeed! Says Roger--I've indulged this family enough with its superstitions as it is, but this is going too far! But if there's a possibility it might help Mother, cajoles Carolyn. Help your mother?--why not dance a voodoo dance around the hospital table? demands Roger--chanting semi-guttural noises? (I'd like to see that.) I can tell you, says Guthrie, that I feel a seance is the one real contribution I can make to this entire case.
I congratulate you, says Roger--it is the first succinct confession of quackery I have ever heard. It is not quackery, says Vicki, we can't ignore what's been going on here! I'm aware that you've never cared for my ideas, says Peter to Roger. These are not ideas, says Roger, ideas are the product of the human mind!--this is a product of irrational superstition. I know that you're anxious to have me leave Collinwood, says Peter, well there is one way you can hasten my departure. A simple request, perhaps? Asks Roger. (LOL!) If the seance fails, there will be no reason for me to stay on, says Guthrie. Oh? asks Roger. Once the seance is over, begins Peter. You'll forget this foolishness? Asks Roger. I'll have no choice, says Peter. Well, then let's do it at once! says Roger eagerly--come along, girls, let's gather 'round. (so subtle.) Uncle Roger, says Carolyn, he's only trying to help! says Carolyn. I'm not sure when the time will be right, says Guthrie, but I'll let you know. When do you think it will be? asks Roger. Soon, promises Peter, very likely--you'll participate? I think I should, replies Roger, I think somebody should be present who has a firm hold on their sanity. Good, that's settled then, says Peter--I'll let you know when the exact time will be. Carolyn thanks him and Vicki volunteers to show him to the door. (wasn't he supposed to stay at Collinwood?) He follows Vicki out. Carolyn chastises Roger--He's only trying to help my mother, and the only thing you can do is be rude. Oh, Kitten, please, says Roger, I've agreed to your simple little pleasures, isn't that enough? I wonder if he wants us to talk to Aunt Laura about it or if he'd prefer to do it himself? Asks Carolyn. Do you really expect Laura to join in on this lunacy? asks Roger--(Vicki rejoins them) you must be out of your mind!--I wouldn't consider it--he looks up at the ceiling--I'll be in my room if you want me, he says, just tap on the night table--seance indeed, he mumbles, I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. He leaves the room. Do you know what? asks Carolyn--I think the real reason Uncle Roger is objecting is because the idea of a seance frightens him, just as it does me. Do you really think your Aunt Laura will refuse? asks Vicki. Of course she will, predicts Carolyn, and we won't even have the argument we used with Uncle Roger--that it might help Mother. I don't know... says Vicki. Of course you know! says Carolyn, you know as well as I do that Aunt Laura probably had something to do with my mother's illness--she was the last person to see her--if she hadn't done anything wrong, why did she lie about that?

This Robservations references the quote almost perfectly...

And even though a lot of what I excerpted doesn't relate to the quote, I had to include it because every time I see Roger ask if they should do a voodoo dance at the hospital I practically start rolling around on the floor in hysterical laughter!  [a1f5]  And he continues to be totally priceless in the scene...

Also, this is another of the very few scenes in which Roger is seen dressed so casually - normally they have him in suits or sport coat/dress slacks, as so totally befits his buttoned up personality...

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Sunday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Sunday's quote:
Ep #1118 (1840) - Daniel - 'We MUST make the proper funeral arrangements.'

From "#1117/1118: Robservations 09/23/03: Ben Attacked--By What?"
Daniel sits at a desk in his tower prison, writing a note.  Ben enters and greets him.  I'm glad you're here, says Daniel, I need your help--I'm writing a note to that wasteful son of mines.  You mean Mr. Gabriel? asks Ben.  No, Quentin! says Daniel querulously--you've heard what he's done, haven't you?--appropriated funds from the family business.  Look at me, Mr. Daniel, bids Ben--you can't write no note to Mr. Quentin--he's dead.  Astounded, Daniel looks at him, then says, Quentin, dead?  I told you, don't you remember? asks Ben--Mr. Quentin was lost at sea?  Daniel repeats, "Lost at sea?--he always loved the sea, Ben--well, then, we must make the proper funeral arrangements."  I came up to tell you there's someone waiting downstairs who is real anxious to see you, says Ben--a relative.  Rubbish, says Daniel, I'll have none of that--I know my relatives too well--they all come with outstretched palms.  This one ain't like that, says Ben

This Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Daniel - 'But the book MUST still be there') was back on June 8th of 2021, and the second (Barnabas - 'You MUST be Daniel Collins') was back on January 11th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Monday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...

[spoiler]Monday's quote:
Ep #1226 (1841PT) - Flora - 'But we MUST be careful-- we don't want to happen to him what happened to...'

From "#1226/1227: Robservations 12/30/03: Gabriel, Insane"
Collinwood drawing room - We'd just better pray Quentin finds her before she finds Kendrick, Julia, says Flora--the state she's in, she's likely to tell him more than you did.  There's nothing wrong with what I told him, says Julia defensively.  There was no reason to tell him anything at all, says Flora.  After what he'd seen? asks Julia, I had to say something to him!  How do you know he won't repeat that to everyone he meets? asks Flora.  I don't know, says Julia, but it was better than saying nothing about it!  We should have found some way of dealing with him a long time ago, says Flora--we always knew something like this was inevitable. I tried to deal with him, I even offered him money, says Julia.  He refused? asks Flora.  Yes, says Julia, he said he wouldn't take any amount of money to not see Melanie again.  Do you think seeing Melanie change that way shocked him so badly, he'll never come back? asks Flora.  I don't know, says Julia, there was no way of telling what he was thinking when he left.  We'll have to face it, says Flora, if it didn't shock him enough, he'll be more trouble than ever--if he really is in love with Melanie, we'll never get rid of him!  We've got to keep trying, insists Julia, we must convince him the situation is hopeless.  Yes, agrees Flora, but we must be careful--we don't want to happen to him what happened to...  Julia interrupts--how is Morgan? she asks.  No change, reports Flora

This Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And speaking of what Kendrick saw, I absolutely love the earlier scene as Julia angrily and desperately tries to get rid of Kendrick, going so far as to order him to leave the house and never return, only to open the drawing room doors to escort him out, but she soon sees a possessed Melanie slithering down the stairs out in the foyer and rambling about death being the only answer until no one is left and until the curse has been appeased, so Julia hastily changes tact by quickly closing the doors and saying that perhaps they can talk for a few minutes longer. But of course Kendrick sees right through that, demands to look in the foyer, and much to his shock discovers the possessed Melanie for himself. Both the version at the end of Ep #1225 and the one at the beginning of this ep are played to perfection.
