If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #52 (1966) - Vicki - 'It MUST have been the wind.'

From "#0051/0052: Robservations 06/22/01: Dead Man Body Surfing"
They hear a banging sound coming from the drawing room and look fearfully at each other, frozen.

This is silly, says Vicki, I'm going in there to find out what it is. I know there are no such things as ghosts, says Carolyn, but what if there are? Then, says Vicki bravely, I'll see something I've never seen before. She enters the dark drawing room and turns on a lamp. Carolyn has followed her in. Who's in here? asks Vicki, then strides over to the open window and closes it. Must have been the wind, she says with a nervous chuckle.
The Robservations references the quote almost perfectly...

And this quote sets another bigger again because it's the twelveth time a sixth quote from the same ep has appeared in the slideshow, joining Eps #44, #66, #377, #384, #449, #550, #646, #709, #727, #915 & #993!! The first (Maggie - 'Oh Pop, this MUST be the purest atmosphere in the country. Why do you think all those summer people come up here every year?'), was back on July 22nd of 2020, the second (Vicki - 'It MUST have been one of the shutters. The wind's up') was back on January 13th of 2022, the third (Vicki - 'Well, it MUST have fallen off the table') was back on October 17th of 2022, the fourth (Sam - 'Something MUST have happened to him to keep him from meeting me') was back on May 13th of 2023, and the fifth (Vicki - 'Well-- then it MUST have been David') was back on February 26th of 2024.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #288 (1967) - Julia - 'Oh, we MUST have a good long talk one day.'

From "#0287/0288: Robservations 12/17/01: Julia KNOWS!!!"
Julia joins them. She's moving into the house temporarily (LOL!), and requests that Vicki find some family histories for her. When Vicki goes to the library to find them, David shows Julia the family photos, including portraits of Sarah, Joshua, Naomi and Barnabas. David, who's never seen Sarah's picture before, mentions that she looks just like the kid he's been playing with outside the Old House. I wonder if she's a ghost? Muses David, but Vicki overhears when she returns to the room and warns him not to start telling any of THOSE kind of stories.
The Robservations doesn't reference the quote at all, however, at least the AOL Update when Ep #288 was shown as the second ep on October 19, 1995 on the Sci-Fi Channel brings up David's offer -

Quote from: GABLECLARK@aol.com
Julia enters the room and David offers to tell her all about his ancestors.  Vicki leaves the room to get a book that Julia requested.

- which is what Julia replies to when she delivers the quote...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Vicki - 'Well, listen, I know that you like to imagine scary things, and you have a very active imagination, but you MUSTN'T let it run away with you') was back on June 3rd.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #435 (1796) - Trask - 'You MUST know. You said you were under her spell.'

From "#0435/0436: Robservations 04/10/02:"
Peter requests that the case be dropped, but the judge says Trask must be allowed to cross-examine the witness. Where is Angelique Collins? asks Trask. Ben doesn't know; he is no longer under her spell. She left the day after Barnabas went to England, a month ago. Trask accuses Ben of lying--the acts of witchcraft continued, nay, escalated, in the past month. There were three deaths in the Collins household, plus all the attacks in the village--witchcraft is still being practiced--and by Victoria Winters! NO! screams Ben, Angelique is guilty. He saw her turn Joshua into a cat; she was responsible for Sarah's death--not Miss Winters! Pandemonium breaks out; everyone is yelling at everyone else.
The Robservations doesn't reference the quote, but it comes up before Ben explains that he is no longer under Angelique's spell...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Barnabas - 'Something MUST be done to help Miss Winters') was back on August 9th, though in the future, for reasons explained elsewhere in the topic, it will be on August 16th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #573 (1968) - Angelique - 'Perhaps this is my chance. Yes, I could end his existence forever-- repay him for all those years. It's what he deserves. Yes, I MUST do it. I MUST do it now.'

From "Robservations 7/23/02 - Joe & Maggie Finale? - #572/573"
Joe and Barnabas continue to argue about who will leave and who will stay; Joe says Nicholas is expecting him. Barnabas sees no harm in his waiting, but Joe says there is, Nicholas won't like it--he'll say Barnabas is trespassing. Barnabas reminds him the Collins family is renting this house to Nicholas. Angelique, listening to their conversation, wonders why Barnabas is there. This is her chance, she exults; she could end his existence forever, pay him back for all those years. It's what he deserves, yes--she must do it, and now! Joe keeps looking out the window; the sun has set, and he nervously urges Barnabas to leave--now
The Robservations paraphrase and still gets all the point across...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Angelique - 'You can't resist the call-- you MUST come to me!') was back on October 29th of 2020.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #834 (1897) - Petofi - 'But I MUST emulate my hero-- Lord Kitchener. Before a battle, he retired to his tent. There, alone, he perfected his strategy.'

From "Robservations 3/3/03 - Edward's Prisoner - #834/835"
Tate broods, staring at Amanda's smiling face in his portrait.  Your visitor will be here shortly, says Petofi, I advise you to put away the portrait--were your visitor to see it, he'd find it most odd.  Tate asks who is coming.  You'll find out soon enough, says Petofi--I want you to receive him for me.  He's your guest, says Tate, lifting up Amanda's portrait, you're the reason he's coming--why don't you?  I must emulate my hero, Lord Kitchener, says Petofi--before a battle, he retired to his tent, and there, alone, perfected his strategy.  Petofi goes into another room and closes the door.
The Robservations references the quote almost perfectly...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Edward - 'What MUST be done, I will do alone, as difficult as it will be') was back on February 19th of 2023.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #943 (1970) - Julia - 'Barnabas, you MUST be careful.'

From "Robservations 5/16/03 - Maggie and the Zombie; Followed By a Moon Poppy"
Collinwood - Barnabas is on the phone, speaking to the law. Surely you must have seen Maggie somewhere? he frets--your men are still out looking for her, I hope? Let me know as soon as they get back--thank you. Julia, standing anxiously by, says, you should have told them to go them to the antique shop. She isn't there, says Barnabas, I'm not even sure Jeb has anything to do with this. He must have, insists Julia.  I can't give myself away, says Barn--if I am to defeat the Leviathans, I must do it from within, I know--I'm going to the antique shop to talk to the Todds--if he is their leader, he may have told them more than he's told me. Be careful, warn Julia.  Barnabas leaves.
While the Robservations references several other "MUST" lines that do indeed appear in the scene and may become a part of the slideshow one day, when referencing the quote, it doesn't use "MUST" - shamefull!!...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Sabrina - 'You MUST take the flower and eat it') was back on May 8th of 2020, and the second (Jeb - 'But you MUST NOT listen to the book. Your loyalty is going to be to me') was back on December 4th of 2022.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #1042 (1970PT) - Carolyn - 'No, Quentin MUST be cleared of both murders-- cleared completely. Julia is right: We've got to find out who killed Angelique. Yes, find out.'

From "#1042/1043: Robservations 07/30/03: Julia Stands Up to Barnabas"
Drawing room at Loomis House - Carolyn sits in a chair, staring at the fireplace flames. She looks at the clock, then goes over to the window, thinking deeply, wondering who killed Angelique?...they'll get Quentin for Bruno's murder, anyway...why can't we all forget about that dreadful seance, put it out of our minds completely? She paces, upset, then sits on the sofa, and says no, Quentin must be cleared of both murders, cleared completely, Julia is right...we must find out who killed Angelique. She begins to have a vision, a memory, of Angelique lying on the floor, wearing her fancy blue dress and jewelry.
The Robservations references mostly all of the quote almost perfectly (except for where it uses "MUST" where there is no use of it in the actual quote)...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Maggie - 'The music that Bruno played for Angelique. You MUST have heard it. You MUST! There was somebody in there and they wouldn't let me in and they were playing it'), was back on August 21st of 2023, and the second (Angelexis - 'But we MUSTN'T believe that Quentin did it. We MUSTN'T') was back on July 19th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #1168 (1840) - Judard - 'Wait just a minute. We MUST conceal this. No one, and I mean no one, MUST ever find out that we have discovered this. We MUST hide it somehow.'

From "#1167/1168: Robservations 11/14/03: An Amazing Revelation For Gerard"
Barnabas Collins is a vampire, married to a witch--it's so clear to me now!  I'm not so sure it's clear, says Gerard.  Well I am, insists Trask, Barnabas is a vampire--have you ever seen him during the light of day--no, he didn't even come to Roxanne's funeral, his beloved Roxanne--and Daniel--was he there at his funeral?--no, he also said he went to England in 1797--no, my friend, we have all the evidence we need--Barnabas Collins is a vampire--my father's death will be avenged--IN THE NAME OF GOD MY FATHER'S DEATH WILL BE AVENGED!  Gerard grins--you must be right, he says--but now, it must be getting dark, and it's time to plan what we will be doing--let's go.  They start to leave.  We must conceal the exposed bones of Trask, says Gerard--no one must ever find out we have discovered this.  They push an armoire over the yawning alcove.
The Robservations only references a small part of the quote. And that is most unfortunate because, yay [clap], the quote in its entirety is another triple "MUST" quote!!

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Lamar - 'If I can best serve our maker by testifying against Quentin Collins, then I MUST do so') was back on June 13th of 2025.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #54 (1966) - Burke - 'He MUST have been faced with a tremendous decision. The same way Sam Evans was.'

From "#0053/0054: Robservations 06/25/01: Collinsport, Patterson's Town"
You not only jump to conclusions, you leap over them! says Roger--number one, Malloy hasn't disappeared, he has simply not appeared. I don't care what words you use, says Burke--the fact is, he's not here, he's no where to be found. Maybe he doesn't want to be found, suggests Roger. Oh, you think he's hiding someplace, says Burke--why would he want to do that?--why would he set up this meeting between you, me and Sam Evans? I can't answer that, says Roger, but I do know he was drinking that day. I'm aware of that, says Burke--he must have had a terrible worry on his mind--to make him do a thing like that--he must have been faced with a tremendous decision--the same way Sam Evans was. I told you again and again I don't know anything about Sam Evans! shouts Roger.
The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this is the fifth quote from this ep. The first (Burke - 'He MUST have had a terrible worry on his mind') was back on October 18th of 2020, the second (Roger - 'You MUST have gone to a great deal of trouble to pick out something in such poor taste!'), which is one of my all-time favorite Roger lines, was back on August 30th of 2022, the third (Sheriff Patterson - 'Well, Matthew, you MUST have taken a little time. You said you looked him over carefully') was back on May 23rd of 2023, and the fourth (Burke - 'And when Bill didn't show up last night, you MUST have talked to Evans and told him to keep his mouth shut') was back on February 22nd of 2024.

And this ep now shares the [milestone] of a fifth quote with Eps #42, #44, #52, #66, #106, #133, #208, #211, #300, #367, #377, #384, #426, #449, #466, #506, #543, #544, #550, #556, #609, #629, #639, #646, #655, #678, #709, #727, #734, #742, #746, #915, #977, #993, #1057, #1111, #1197, #1218 & #1232. However, recall that there's an even bigger because Eps #44, #52, #66, #377, #384, #449, #550, #646, #709, #727, #915 & #993 have six quotes, and even a bigger still because Ep #550 has seven!!

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #834 (1897[-1967]) - Barnabas - 'I MUST stop his death, Magda, and I will take any chance I MUST to do it! Now we MUST find the I-Ching wands.'

From "Robservations 3/3/03 - Edward's Prisoner - #834/835"[
If you go and speaks with the ghost, asks Magda, how will you get back here?  Barnabas lights some candles.  I got here before, I'll get back again, promises Barnabas.  It's taking too big a chance, says Magda.  If Quentin dies on the 10th of September, then history won't have been changed, and his ghost will surely claim David, declares Barnabas somberly.  "I must stop his death, Magda, and will take any chance to do it!"  We must find the I-Ching wands, he says, taking the candelabra and to search Quentin's desk.
The Robservations references two out of three uses of "MUST" in the quote - and that means the quote is anther triple use of "MUST" [clap]...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Edward - 'What MUST be done, I will do alone, as difficult as it will be') was back on February 19th of 2023, and the second (Petofi - 'But I MUST emulate my hero-- Lord Kitchener. Before a battle, he retired to his tent. There, alone, he perfected his strategy') was back on the 17th.

Oops - even though I uploaded today's quote and also took the screen capture for it, I forgot to upload the screen capture, so all the quotes are off. But I just uploaded today's capture. So, unless you're seeing the slideshow like this -

Ep #574 (1968) - Maggie - 'Well, there MUST be, if they
can't stand the sunlight. Maybe you better go back to the
hospital and have a check-up.'

Ep #553 (1968) - Barnabas - 'Oh, it MUST have been 40
minutes ago.'

Ep #526 (1968) - Cassandra - 'I need your help, Nicholas.
The dream curse MUST continue. Nothing MUST prevent its
fulfillment.'

Ep #502 (1968) - Tony - 'He MUST know one.'

Ep #474 (1968) - Roger - 'You MUSTN'T be depressed. We'll
leave as soon as your ankle is better.'

Ep #504 (1968) - Liz - 'Well, then I MUST talk to him myself.
Maybe he'll tell me something that he won't tell them.'

Ep #728 (1897) - Quentin - 'Edward, she's your wife. Now
surely you MUST be curious as to what became of her when
she followed me out of this house and halfway around the
world.'

- you'll need to clear your browser's cache...

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Wednesday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Wednesday's quote:
Ep #436 (1796) - Peter - 'How do you know that, Ben? It can't be because I've checked all the rooms and boarding houses in Collinsport and she's not there. She MUST be here!'

From "#0435/0436: Robservations 04/10/02:"
Peter catches up with Ben at the door to the Old House. Ben says he can't do anything further to help Vicki. Peter's been searching for Angelique, in town and now here at the Old House. He won't find her, says Ben, she's dead and buried, and it was her ghost that appeared in the courtroom. Ben knows she died, he buried her (although he refuses to reveal how she died). Peter asks to see Ang's grave
The Robservations sort of references the quote. However, the AOL Update from when Ep #436 was run on the Sci-Fi Channel as the first ep on February 8, 1996 references it a bit better:

Quote from: Shebastorm@aol.com/Teri Darcy
Peter catches up with Ben at the door to the Old House. Ben says he can't do anything further to help Vicki. Peter's been searching for Angelique, in town and now here at the Old House. He won't find her, says Ben, she's dead and buried, and it was her ghost that appeared in the courtroom. Ben knows she died, he buried her (although he refuses to reveal how she died). Peter asks to see Ang's grave

And Ep #436 is this month's first and perhaps only ep where Midnite serendipitously happened upon an ep that hadn't been quoted from before. Time will tell...

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Thursday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Thursday's quote:
Ep #574 (1968) - Maggie - 'Well, there MUST be, if they can't stand the sunlight. Maybe you better go back to the hospital and have a check-up.'

From "Robservations 7/24/02 - #574/575 - Ang Formulates Her Own Agenda"
Joe sits in his room with a bottle of booze. Maggie knocks, but he doesn't want to answer the door. He reluctantly does, and she sees how terrible he looks. He isn't in shape for talking, he says, and asks her to go home. She demands he tell her what's happening, but he can't. Why? she asks--you aren't making sense. Joe says little has made sense for the past few weeks. She opens the shade, and he begs her to close it, covering his face. He doesn't want the shade up, the sun hurts his eyes. She closes the shade and asks if there's something wrong with his eyes. She wants him to go back to the hospital, but he's in such bad shape, he rubs his unshaven face and can't even pay attention to her.
The Robservations doesn't reference the quote directly but does its circumstances...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Nicholas - 'I'm afraid I MUST') was back on June 25th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Friday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Friday's quote:
Ep #835 (1897/1969) - Prof. Stokes - 'First of all, I MUST find out if my understanding of this letter is correct.'

From "Robservations 3/3/03 - Edward's Prisoner - #834/835"
Stokes reads the letter aloud.  He finds it astonishing.  The date is September 5th, points out Julia.  And today is the 5th in 1969, says Stokes--he's in a past that somehow runs parallel to their present.  Barnabas is still alive, says Julia.  According to his letter, not much longer, says Stokes--somehow, he will die in less than 8 hours.  We must do something, says Julia.  First, says Stokes, I must find out if my understanding of this letter is correct--I assume you know something about Barnabas I don't know--one passage in the letter is a complete mystery to me-- the part about all this being prevented by one Edward Collins, "who learned my secret some months ago."  Julia looks both secretive and scared.  What does that mean, Julia?--what is Barnabas Collins' secret? asks Stokes.  (this would have been the perfect time to tell him!)
The Robservations references the quote well but not perfectly...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Prof. Stokes - I'm afraid there isn't any hope any longer. He's gone. We MUST accept that fact and tell the family') was back on August 6th.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #944 (1970) - Barnabas - 'Then I'm going to give you some brandy because we MUST talk about it.'

From "Robservations 5/19/03 - #944-945"
I wish I were in the woods with him now. Even if you were, you couldn't make him understand, says Barnabas--tomorrow. No, tonight, insists Sabrina, it's the only way I can save him.
