Vickie tries to make nice to Roger, but he won’t have it. Burke calls and Vickie goes and tells him he was wrong about Roger. He eventually kisses her with passion but she rejects him. Burke gets news he owns Logansport cannery and Elizabeth and Roger fret over it. David takes food to Matthew weaving a web of lies in the process.

  The situation at Matthew’s cottage is tense as Elizabeth tries to calm him and Vickie acts hysterically she assures him Vickie won’t talk. He eventually runs off. The women return to the great house and inform the sheriff Matthew struggling with Bill caused Malloy to fall to his death. 
     Roger returns home blaming Vickie for his incarceration. He neglects to see his behavior led to her suspicions. He wants her fired and Elizabeth refuses. She says Burke will still be a problem.  Meanwhile a figure approaches the Old House.

  Vickie runs to Matthew’s to use the phone to call the sheriff.  Matthew comes in clearly unhinged over her trespass. He won’t let her use the phone and it becomes clear he is behind the attempts on her life and he believes Vickie knows he killed Malloy over a remark from David.
      David returns and Elizabeth worries about Vickie, Frank arrives and she calls the Sheriff.  He arrives.
      Matthew keeps Vickie from leaving and tells Elizabeth over the phone that he hadn’t seen her. Vickie realizes the whole truth and he says he will kill her.  Why didn’t Vickie just run to the great house? Elizabeth said it’s only five minutes away from the Old House.  Things are picking up. I always liked Vickie in jeopardy.

Hopes dashed!

The Sheriff admits to Burke in what seems to be unethical and stupid that the Malloy case is still open.  How do we know that Burke hadn’t created some ruse to frame Roger? 
Roger and Elizabeth talk about Vickie being nearly run down.  Roger tries to blame Sam. The Sheriff and Burke talk to Roger. Burke produces the Pen and this spurs Roger to go dig up his pen and get caught by The Sheriff and his deputy Burke

Vickie relays the story Roger told her to Burke. He is skeptical and she wants to believe Roger.  Maggie and Sam discuss the whole convoluted mess and he worries he may be implicated. Burke drops off Vickie who pretends to have been walking.  Roger is suspicious. Someone unlocks Vickie’s door. She screams and Roger comes in saying door was unlocked.

     It’s still all about the Pen.  Roger pumps Carolyn for information She’s preparing for a date with Burke. David is eavesdropping as usual and makes a delightful drawing of a hanged man. Hopefully his father.  Maggie comes calling on Vickie and when she leaves the fun begins.  Roger grabs Vickie covering her mouth. What will happen next?

  It’s all about the pen. Vickie realizes that Roger had it. Lost it, probably took it and hid it. She tells Burke.  Will it ever end?
