Roger is phoning Sam and appears almost on the verge of tears and then Vickie startles him coming for a book that she never gets.  Roger and Sam drown their sorrows separately for a change. With as much time as they are together now, the whole town must be beginning to wonder.
Sobbing rings through the entire house, but only Vickie seems bothered.  Vickie seems to think it's in the basement and behind the locked door.  It stops for a minute when she tries to get in and then resumes.  Roger appears and becomes unhinged over Vickie and they leave followed by more sobbing.
Upstairs Ned calls and Roger hangs up making it appear he wants to keep Ned and Elizabeth from speaking. Vickie plans to go tell Mrs Stoddard he's been bad prompting Roger to become contrite and admit that he hears the sobbing also.

David is sitting on the window ledge on the landing.  There should be a bench there so that area could be used for more scenes.
Vickie isn't afraid of David which makes sense since she should have been exposed to problem children at the home.
Elizabeth doesn' think of Vickie as a stranger anymore even though Vickie's been at Collinwood a few days.  Elizabeth seems to be hiding something of why she want's her to stay.
Roger gets a call from a strange man and then we learn the stranger is Sam Evans.
Roger expounds, " A potential murderer."  in regards to his son.
Vickie wisely decides to go into town to see a movie, but get's there too late and goes to the diner where  Sam warns her to fear death.  Maybe she should have just stayed home.
We get more insight into the Collins siblings when Roger tells Liz that she will run things her way as she always does.  Then Elizabeth puts in a call to an unknown man named Ned Caulder.

Already the gossip has started about Vicke and Burke and Carolyn is jealous.  She barely knows Burke and she seems to care more for him than Joe.
David warns Vickie that she is in the same doghouse his father in in, but Vickie seems to not listen to what he says.

Vickie is quite the little trooper.  Determined to find answers despite common sense.  She must know that Collinsport is a hotbed of gossip and she goes alone into Burke Devlin's room.  I was guessing Mitchell Ryan was about 40, but in 1966 he was 32 so there isn't as great an age gap as it appears.

The globed lamp is on the sideboard in the drawing room instead of the table by the fireplace.
Vickie asks to borrow Carolyn's car.  So she does have one of her own.
Joe is nice to look at, but dull as dishwater.  I get the feeling that Carolyn decided on the best looking boy in town and got him. It's okay to have some ambition as to owning a boat, but Joe doesn't know how to have fun and everytime Carolyn comes on that song "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" comes to mind.

Dark Lady there is a phone in the cottage.  Mrs. Stoddard called when Vickie was lying to Matthew and she told him so over the phone in an earlier episode.
The Statue is back.  I guess Elizabeth has that furniture rearrainging bug after being on the estate for so many years.
It's great how his sister glares at Roger.  He should be worried more about her than David.

David shows Burke a picture of his mother and we learn she is in the hospital now.  I think this is the first time we learn where she is supposedly living.  It would have been more gothic for her to be stark raving mad and running around the house. David tells Vickie he will get even. Now considering that she lived and later worked in a foundling home she should have been exposed to this kind of behavior and worse.
The statue on the hall table is missing, but then I see it on the Foyer sideboard.  It looks heavy. More work for Matthew.

Burke really should have thought this out more.  What if they just decided to blame him to protect David.  Who would they believe the richest family in town or a self avowed revenge seeking convicted felon?
The door closes by itself and locks and then a dark shrouded figure appears that resembles in build no living person in the house.
Roger says it was probably he, but it seems doubtful.  Perhaps there is someone else living in the house, maybe in th locked west wing or the locked room in the basement?

Liz announces that she loves David.  I keep wondering how much time they could have spent together with Elizabeth confined to the estate grounds and Roger and Laura for some reason going to Augusta to live on his payoff money from Elizabeth.  Why was Roger living in Augusta?  If his sister was paying him to stay away?  Why not at least go to Boston.  You can at least imagine Roger in Boston, but in the third smallest capital in the U.S. and a population of 21,000 in the 1960's not really.  If he were sent there to work for a branch of the Collins company or to grease the wheels for them with the state leaders it might make sense.

I noticed the bouncing Roger also.  Maggie makes David a sundae and he disappears.  Maggie doesn't seem to think he had time to slip out the side door, but doesn't look very hard for him.  There has to be a door in the back for deliveries and whatnot where he could have slipped out also.  Roger seems unconcerned and makes a nice impression on the townsfolk with , " He can find his own way home."

The door to the West WIng opens and out comes David though supposedly it's always locked.  Why is it locked?  The fight was realistic.  Vickie tricks him into leaving and locks him out.  I'm surprised he hasn't found a key to her room.  Liz returns to the house after a long visit to crazy Matthew and then the valve is gone.

It's a whole new world watching on a larger screen.  The chair in Vickie.s room will at some point appear in the drawing room along with another desk that seems to replace the constantly moving grand piano.

The Desk in Vickie's room is clearly deeply scarred.  Did David do this on a rampage prior to Vickie's arrival?  It makes one wonder where they got the furniture S t. Vincent de Paul?
Elizabeth really wants to hide the real reason Vickie is at Collinwood.
Vickie finds the bleeder valve.  David is smart enough to do the crime, but not smart enough to throw it off Widows Hill?

While he was in prison, he had time to figure out how to amass a fortune and it's never been said he got it by legal means.  He's protrayed as being ruthless in getting what he wants.  He could have a host of sweat shops in Japan pouring out cheap made in Japan goods.

The cafe gets three customers!!!
Collinsport or one of it's surrounding towns must have an upscale Department store.  I remember the days of boxes with string tied around them.  Does Carolyn shop for her mother?
Great statement that they hadn't changed the decor in Burke's room in 20 years.
