Joshua suspects grave robbers have taken Barnabas. What no blame on the powerful witch?  Joshua reveals that he knows about the secret panel and it was built Barnabas appears and kills her ending a potentially interesting story involving Millicent, but her story is apparently a D story and will get little thought.

My favorite mirror appears on the wall at the foot of the stairs after being shifted about the house in the future.  The picture of Barnabas is in the place of the old capped lady which hung there in hall to the right of the door in a previous episode.  That picture is sometimes to the right of the drawing room door where the liquor cabinet spends most of its time. There is much ado about the onyx ring that went to the grave. The house was just built by Jeremiah for Joshua and Barnabas seems to be the only one who knows there is a secret panel in Josettes room. What was the purpose of that and other panels and wouldn't the builders have discussed why they were installed?  Barnabas and Josette plan to spend eternity together while Joshua goes into the candlelit crypt to find an empty coffin.

The redo of the biting of Josette has much better lighting and the other side is bitten. Josette wants no sun in her room as Aunt Natalie tries to open the drawn drapes. Josette has once again changed her mind and does not want to leave.  The wall in Josette's room now has moundlings to hide the secret door which we actually see open for the first time when Barnabas enters the room walking instead of flying in.
The great love across time has begun with Peter and Vickie kissing. Vickie finally has realized how foolish she was to go around talking of the the future and trying to change it. It was nicely played by AM. Peter wonders if Vickie ever thought of staying in the past.  Does she have a choice?

Sukey seems well dressed as per Dark Lady's description for someone who was abandoned and has no money. Nathan and Sukey see Barnabas at different times as he skulks around Collinwood hoping to spy Josette and then decides he must see her despite vows to stay away.

Just when I was wondering if there were and townspeople, it turns out there are and the Blue Whale is called the Eagle.  The curls on Millicents hair remind me of a poodle. Suki Forbes shows up and is revealed to be the wife of Nahan abandoned and broke. I'm sensing a Jane Austen rip off here. The bartender blabs to Suki that Nathan is to marry richly.

Maybe that is why it was originally written that Elizabeth did all the housework herself.

Nice close up of Barnabas' face and the confusion as he realized he is awake once again at dusk. He attacks Ben without asking questions much like he has done in the future. Not much human left hardly anything at all he speaks. The head of Angelique appears and laughs at Ben and reveals he will not stop her from sending Josette to Barnabas. I like how her voice is borne on the wind and then becomes the voice of Barnabas. The head appears in Josette's room and makes her dream of her love and where to find him in the crypt. They still refer to Josette as a DuPres in the credits and the episode was written by Ron Sproat.

Barnabas tells Ben he is to get Vickie away which should have happened the minture the bogus reverand Trask showed up. Barnabas is caught visiting Juliet and Natalie creates a ruckus as usual. When Ben goes to stake Barnabas the room is magically lit without candles, but the head appears and takes the stake.

Naomi is in black and Joshua comes home to the news of Sarah's death. He blames Vickie as does the town. Which reminds me that we havent seen much town or townfolk. They should be riled up by the Reverand and storming the gaol. The visit to the tomb reveals that the headstone for Sarah is already carved and installed, perhaps, the working of a bewitched stonemason working for Vickie. Barnabas reveals that he wants Ben to kill him with a nod to continuity for a change he is to use a holly tree stake. What happened to the stake he fashioned for Angelique that went unused?

That's right I forgot she was thought dead. Even though I've never seen anything but some excerpts of this story, I did see the nighttime version and the differences are interesting.

Sarah hides behind the tombstone and Ben calls for her. Rain is pounding at the drawing room window and the woodwork is wet. I think this is the first time that has been shown. Joan Bennett keeps looking offscreen and Sarah can't talk.  This keeps Sharon from looking offscreen as well for a change. Sarah's door is unlike others at Collinwood and it appears her room must be in the attic. It actually looks more like a room in the old house. Sarah is able to rally and write remarkably well for such a sick girl. The scene takes on a better quality as Barnabas comes in and holds Sarah while she dies and Sharon speaks without looking offscreen.

The door swinging shut on Sarah sadly seals her fate and then she sees the bloody Barnabas at dawn.

I agree that Joan Bennett looks breathtakingly beautiful here and much younger than how she was filmed in the present as Elizabeth. Suddenly Sarah's death is brought up. I don't like how some characters and stories are brought up then dropped for a long period of time. Barnabas can't stay away from Josette and causes Sarah to see him and go running outside into the coming storm. Vickie tries to change the past without thinking of the consequenses of her letting someone live who should have died. It would have been interesting to have her prevent someone from dying and then reading about what happened in the history book and realizing she has to make that person die or there will be no future for her.

Josette accusses Vickie of killing Barnabas and vows revenge. Josette has proven to be much more than just the devoted love of Barnabas that was implied by him in some versions of her story. Roger Davis seems very subdued in his performance; perhaps, it is  because he is new.  The Rev knows that Barnabas is dead? It seems that he would not be told. When did Vickie know that there is a secret panel? And I didn't notice it on the wall. It seems that when it does appear there is some kind of moudling to hide the lines.

Barnabas realizes he is dead and Angelique reveals he can only live a night. And now Angelique had not thought out her curse or she would have reaized that she would be a victim. A bat flies out when Josette enters the tomb. Joshua doesn't question the candles in the tomb. Barnabas talks somewhat off and taller than Ben when he appears to him and reveals that he would rather be dead. All the elements of a Shakespearean tragedy and thats probably where they were stolen.
