Julia says she will do anything for Barnabas, but apparently getting Willie out wasn't what she had in mind. Barnabas says he wants to clear things up with Willie. I suppose that Willie was declared insane and not fit to stand trial, but it seems he would be in some state facility under lockdown, but its  the sixties in Maine so windcliffe is probably it.  Willie seems simple minded now.  He sneaks out and heads over to Maggie's and later has a rifle. Good call dr. Hoffman.

I recall that the talisman is Stokes. Will he ever want it back.  The pants quilt is really a nightmare. Maggie tells hers to the living nightmare. The quilt and Jeff are not meant for large screen viewing.  The DVD ends with Lela Swift and she is really interesting. Joan brought Fritz Lang to the show and he watched every day.

Julia likes Cassandras honesty and seems sincere. It would seems that she would be at least a little suspicious. Julia has her gloves in hand and pocketbook and they figure prominently in the episode. I keep getting distracted watching what she was doing with them. Julia gets the scoop from Jeff as she hypnotises him and luckily the lab is on the second floor so she can scurry over there and gasp at seeing a dead body as if she had never seen one before. Then she screams hideously at what she calls the madness.

Barnabas plays the Woodard card and shuts Julia up. I was surprised that Barnabas caught Cassandra eavesdropping on them.

Barnabas learns that Vickie really loves Jeff. She really does and appears despite his usual bent towards obsession at all costs decides to let Jeff live.  I was wondering also why Lang just didn't use a whole body and fashion a new face. Surely he has heard of plastic surgery. Powell turns on just appears to be reading a teleprompter off screen or maybe someone is feeding him his lines. Then he and Frid get into a shouting and missed lines match.

Vickie picks up on Cassandra's reaction to Maggie. She wants Maggie to take in Jeff sight unseen and I say run Maggie run.  Jeff and Lang shout at each other.
Maggie dreams and opens the door to Jeff. A nightmare unto itself. He beacons her in and she opens the door to her Mystery Date which turns out to be a dud.  A skull with eyes. Where are the ping pong ball eyes when you need them.
Lang has the injected Jeff strapped down by for some reason waits til he awakens to remove his face. Jeff in a moment of brilliance realizes the score. The psychedelic ending was fun reminding me of riding the ferry from our little town over to the city where there were funky bookstores, record shops, and other related shops full of crazy stuff.

Add Carolyn to the list of people blown away by Roger marrying another woman. Tony comes in and starts to order Carolyn around while Cassandra steals his lighter. She lateruses it during her casting a spell on him and her breath keeps flickering the flame and even blows it out at one point.  It's too bad Tony wasn't a Trask.  Barnabas sleeps in the chair. It is odd to see him sleeping. She reveals her plot to him in her true form as his wife and it will be a dream curse more terrifying with each dreamer.

Lang: "I think that thinking about [the possibility of] failure is a contempible weakness."   There's what's wrong with him, in one sentence.

How true.
With the right actors the graveyard scene could have been good, but the deadly duo just put it somewhere over the edge.
Barnabas decides to go ahead with the experiment which will take place in two or three days and he wants the face of Jeff Clark.  Will Vickie wonder about all the scars on Jeff's body once Barnabas has the face of Jeff Clark?

"Never trust a scholarly magazine."  Just one of Stokes quotes.  He prefers sherry to port and makes no bones that he expects it. He eventually coughs up the tailsman, but only as a loan.
Cassandra arrives and Barnabas pointedly tells her the name has an unfortunate association attached to it.
Things go downhill from there.  What are you studying? Withcraft?
Later good buddy Eric tells Barnabas he has an anxiety complex.
Cassandra appears as Miss Blair and uses the old ankle trick on Eric and says Dr. you are going to die. He grabs the tailsman and fortunately it is Sicilian and works.
Barnabas learns that he will leave his body and escape Angelique and his life force will be drained to the unfinished work. A concept that seemed extremely spooky to the boy who used to be me.

Cassandra doesn't want to go away and makes that happen. I was wondering why Roger who seems to be a man under the influence did not just agree to stay to please his beloved. Elizabeth wants the marriage annulled today when yesterday she revealed there was no marriage because Roger already has a wife, but she does not tell Cassandra this fact.  Cassandra already reveals herself to the audience to be Angelique and it would seem more interesting to have let this be a question for a while.

Everyone wonders how Roger's luggage got in the foyer and then he arrives and wants champagne for a dark haired wife. Everyone is shocked, but he has a habit of bringing home pretty wives. They were married in Rockport.  Elizabeth surprisingly brings up that legally Roger is still married to Laura as she was never declared dead. Roger ignores this idea as a trifle. The wife looks at the painting as if she were looking in a mirror and the credits say Cassandra Collins.

The slide is backwards in the beginning. Barnabas and Julia are acting fairly cozy and it's like there was a missing all is forgiven scene for his trying to kill her etc. Roger suddenly has decided the painting is bad and wants to get rid of it but it won't let him and he has a blank canvas and the painting is back at Collinwood.

Mrs J looking perplexed notices the painting is gone. Barnabas looking longingly at Vickie's neck. Vickie screams at the door when she sees Noah and I about jumped out of my skin. Barnabas can look like Jeff? I'm not sure that is an incentive. Eric has a plan.  The desk is back in the drawing room, the easel is gone and there is a cabinet at the foot of the stairs. Busy day for Mrs. j.

I don't know why Vickie doesn't think there is something sinister about the painting as she knows how Angelique was in 1795. Maybe she is under some spell about it also as she had to buy it. Roger's behavior and taking the painting should clue her in that something is amiss. The scene where Barnabas looks in the mirror was good. Vickie went to the past to save Daniel and meet Peter?  How clueless she has become. Even if they have changed the story of the family succession, Daniel still had to live for there be a family for her to meet in 1966.  At Dr. Lang's house Jeff brings in a severed arm on ice and it looks good on DVD.  Is the arm a snack for Lang? Is he a cannibal?  Why not snatch bodies from the morgue or funeral home before going to all the work of digging them up, but when you have a criminally insane murderer working for you and running around loose why take the easier solution.

Barnabas wakes up screaming for Lange and apparently there are no call buttons in the room. The hospital does have the amenity of  french doors in the room.  Jeff comes in as Julia leaves. Dramatic music. Jeff was in an institution for the criminally insane as a murderer.  I wonder what exactly Jeff is doing for Lange?
