Judith has become very familiar with Trask now calling him Greggory. Trask caressing her neck is oh! so creepy.  Why does Tim hear and see Pansy?  One would think that she would appear to someone she knew.  I  kept thinking during Rachel's paltry funeral that Barnabas must have I Chinged a modern casket back to 1897.

Rachel's death brought to mind the intro to a June Carter Cash song "Tall Lover Man"  where she talks about how long it takes to kill off the man in the song.

RD mauls the pillar since there are no women in the scene with him.  They also gave him some big fangs.  His make-up reminds me of the vampire women from second series.
It was very surprising to see that Rachel died.  Her story seemed to never really go anywhere after Barnabas seemed to forget she looked like Josette.
Should Edward have been more prepared to go vampire hunting?  And how weak must he be to struggle to lift that thin little lid of the coffin.  I guess being waited on by all those servants we never see has taken it's toll.  Then he cuts it pretty close on staking Dirk who has quite a bloody death.   Two deaths in one episode.

The whole Magda situation in regards to Barnabas bothers me.  She should know that if she killed Barnabas it would free Sandor and she's be free of him also.  Why does Barnabas not enslave her to make sure she does his bidding?

I think the King of India reference was that gypsies originated from India, or it could be that being mad she may have had delusions of grandeur.  My great-aunt who lived in Fergus Falls MN would write to my grandmother telling of her tea's with the Queen of England.

I've always had to assume that the werewolf shape doesn't necessarily correspond with the human form of the accursed, but that still does not explain the magically shrinking clothes and why does a werewold need clothes in the first place? maybe because a full blown wolf costume was too expensive.

Well Vampire Dirk is sure on a rampage.  Tim, Judith and it looks like Rachel all in one night.   I'll bet Dan Curtis was in hog heaven over this episode.   Trask was once again his creepy self.  It was just gross as he was talking to Rachel and seemingly thinking of future plans for her now that Minerva is out of the way and then worming his way into Judiths life at the same time.   Maybe orphans just have to look in coffins for some reason.

It was interesting to see Evan in Nicholas' old House by the sea, even though, it looks a whole lot different on the inside. I guess that after the horrid Trask family had their school there, it need extensive renovations.
I had to laugh over Charity's claim that father didn't like favoritism.  Maybe in others, but he sure showed it to the wealthy and to his good friend Dorcas and wanted to show more to Rachel.
Now if I were entering some deserted cellar, I'm not sure I'd stay if I saw a coffin and I doubt I'd open it.

I too, liked the special effect of the superimposition of Barnabas over the Old House.  I suppose this was cutting edge for the time.   I see Pansy has a rope around her neck to show she was st angled which I don;t recall from the previous episode.  It brought to mind when Barnabas said, " this house wasn't meant to be a tomb."  But it sure seems like one with Dirk expiring in the secret room and Barnabas dragging Pansy there next.
Poor Charity with her long list of sins and the parents from Hell.  So Minerva thinks Carl is a better suitor than Tim.  I guess that status and connections are a priority for the Tr ask family.  And we learn that Charity loves Barnabas and the fact that the seldom seen Angelique is his betrothed doesn't matter to her doesn't seem very Christian.  I'd love to see what her father has to say about that and perhaps we will find out.

I guess I missed where Carl went off to Atlantic City, but he returns and now Barnabas is his trusted friend also and he trusts him well enough to shelter his girlfriend.  Then he asks him to be his best man.
Pansy was great fun.  Barnabas offers coffee, but she wnats booze and she really slugs it down.  Apparently Carl has a habit of meeting unsuitable women and bringing them home even though he tells Barnabas  he never thought he'd find someone.   Joan was good when she talked about, "the tart you met in Albany last year."
When she announced that the murderer was in the room, it made me wonder, will anyone remember this when they find out that Dirk is on of the living dead?    What a dramatic ending when  Barnabas finds Pansy dead from Dirk in his drawing room at the Old House.   I  well remember Pansy from the original run of the show.  I was surprised she only lasted one episode because I remember all the neighborhood girls fighting over who got to play her.
I guess because she returns later in a slightly different form
As always the door to the Old House and basement are wide open to anyone who wants to enter.  Why does Barnabas not put in a secret coffin room in the house to insure his safety.   Barnabas is already coming up with another half-baked story to supposedly explain the vampire, but anyone with half a brain would realize that Dirk was not a vampire until recently and that Charity amoung others had been victims.  Dirk has died and risen as a vampire, but will it play out as Barnabas hopes?    I liked that Edward, after the Laura experience, has kept his belief in the supernatural.  How many times did his grandson learn of something supernatural and then when something else came along be totally shocked that it was a supernatural happening.

Very exciting episode.   One would assume that Dirk had silver bullets and that Barnabas was history.  I had thought Barnabas had taken Dirk out in the episode when he showed Laura his body in the foyer at Collinwood, but no he showed up again in  the last episode and  now has to be dealt with again.  And there is now Jamison to deal with.

So one of the events that leads to Quentin's death has taken place and he seems to be working hard on making another happen.  They really found a gem when they cast Terry Crawford.  It's a shame they didn't use her more often in the future storyline's.
I wonder what happens to Laura when she doesn't get the children to go with her.  Is life in the land of Phoenix not so hot?  Apparently this Laura is more powerful than Laura Murdock Collins as when she disappeared Liz was released from her spell, but  Dirk is still enthrallled and going around as a lunatic to get her back.

Thanks for the information.  I actually have that on Vhs from things I inherited from my brother and kept thinking it might be interesting to watch when I found the time.

I remember Stokes explaination of time travel from the first run so that had stuck in my mind  as the time travel theory for 1897.  obviously it wasn't was 1795 and Barnabas must figure he will go back on the same day he left as did Vickie.
