Current Talk '08 II / Re: Vicki's Mother
« on: September 26, 2008, 04:40:21 PM »
In the original storyline, Jeremiah and Josette were Liz's direct ancestors so it made more sense that Vickie looked like Josette and the Josette was her guardian angel.  This changed once Barnabas came in the picture and the new writers changed history.  I always thought that Vickie was Liz's daughter and seeing the early episodes and how Joan played the story reinforces this for me.

We were totally surprised and wondered if JF had left the show, but at some point there was an article in either 16 or TV guide saying that the switchboards had been overloaded at ABC and that JF was on Vacation.  Then we wondered how they were going to bring him back.  Exciting times.

I too wish that AM had played out this stoyline, but it seems that Dan Curtis intended to keep BD until the first episodes with BD aired and the audience's dislike of BD caused a different conclusion to the Victoria stoyline.  I can't help but compare the scene's between Liz and Vickie in the lead up to the aborted wedding and these scenes with BD in the role and see the total lack of connection.  It seems odd today to hear Vickie call her Mrs. Stoddard even though they are so close, but I recall back then anyone older was Mr. or Mrs unless they were really close friends of the family and then we were allowed to call them Aunt or Uncle with their first name.  Things have certainly changed.

Current Talk '08 II / Re: Prop Project: The Fully Applianced Fireplace

The backs of some fireplaces were probably removable to be able to shoot across the gas flame logs to the person sitting in front of the fire .  I wonder if they used the same gas logs for all the fireplaces or they had more than one. I can recall even as a child that they were not lighting a real fire except when someone would throw a paper into the gas logs and it would really smoke up.

The recaps were part of all the soaps in the days before you could record episodes at home.  Chris was one of my favorite characters.  His relationship with Amy seemed very real.

This is the third time I've watched hurricane Betsy and it is just as awful as I recalled from the first time.  Now knowing that Alexandra was pregnant, I can see why she would have wanted out of this episode.  Then Tom Jennings returns which is one of the best of times.

Bye Bye Alexandra.  And now what I consider the most horrifing experience on DS begins, but maybe it was Alexandra's was of getting revenge on her co-star.  I have to agree it was a great Grayson Hall moment when she sees Chris.

Current Talk '08 II / Re: What were they thinking?

The writers have stated in the DVD interviews that originally Laura was coming from Phoenix to fight for custody of David and they thought it was too run of the mill  so she became a Phoenix

when watching this story originally, I seemed that Maggie was going to end up being the Devil's bride or maybe end up with a Devil's spawn as in Rosemary's Baby.  I wonder if Alexandra's leaving didn't shake up the story plans as they needed a governess for the Turn of the Screw rip off.

I too wondered why Danielle was in Collinsport and why would a worldly woman be interested in Peter Bradford.  If I were Danielle, he would have bit the dust minutes after meeting him Assuming the experiment went right this time and the original life force died and that is why Eve has Danielle's memories, should not she then have a French accent.? Is she not superhuman strong like Adam?  And why hasn't she gone on a murderous rampage already considering she is the most evil woman to have ever lived?   How do we know that Adam and Eve's children would be superhuman?  Why not make Julia create a monstor making factory?  I would by faster than  Adam and Eve having children and then I presume mating with each other to further the race.  So many questions to be answered.

Current Talk '08 II / Re: DS Collector Plates by MPI
« on: August 16, 2008, 03:33:03 AM »
Is there some unknown rule that ALL the DS merchandise offered by MPI has to be gutwrenchingly tacky?

Are they not just following the original merchandising?  Even at ten, I could see that the plastic music box was half the size of the original which appeared to be real metal and have a hinged top.  I was fanatic enough about the show to buy all the terrible stuff that made it to our backwater town and is now stored in my attic, closets and basement.

exciting episode.  When will Barnabas ever learn that he can never count Angelique out and that her love knows no bounds.

He always said he was a slow study and he is in his eighties.

They could have had Elizabeth return married to a man who looks remarkably like  the Count.  I'm shocked to think that they didn't do it.

Now that Barnabas is human appears in the day, has no need for blood etc, Julia could have had her committed as having lost her mind again.
