THe opening slides are covered in dirt. More so than usual.
Angelique's bed has box springs.
The road to town looks very untraveled considering that the family is using it to go back and forth into town daily.
Barnabas states that he will always love Josette and Angelique is determined that she can make him love her.

Ben prepares to kill the cat and apparently Joshua is unaware he's become a cat, because if I were Joshua I'd flee or at least claw the heck out of everyone I wanted. Andre turns down a drink and it reminds me that Sam never would.  I really tried to get over my dislike of David Ford, but it's not happening.

I like the Countess saying," Think of me as a giant child."
Vickie gets a little of her spunk back when she tells off Nathan and reveals that the countess suspects her of being a witch due to her infantile behavior.  Now if you were suspected of being a witch in these times, would it not make sense to leave and head into another town.  There must be another family somewhere who will hire you as a governess with no recommendation.

Ben is honing his little hatchet and Angeliques head appears and becomes huge. I'm guessing that was planned because its really huge and not the normal out of proportion chromakey. I wonder how long Barnabas has actually know Josette. Did he fall in love with her on first sight? And is all this strange behavior making him think she may be a lunatic? Apparently not. I wish they had actually changed Joshua into a cat onscreen. It's not that hard to do except for having the cat in place when you turn the camera back on.

there is much attention drawn to the devil marks on Josette and Jeremiah and nobody seems to make a connection. I guess the purpose is to frighten the audience.

Natalie's Tarot cards look remarkably like the ones my grandmother used in 1967. Wherever she got them must have been on the forefront of Tarot technology that they were still produced in the same way 170 years later. She sees lovers separated and death and betrayal and this leads to Vickie. Vickie is acting more like a lunatic than a witch, but then how many witches has she known? I recognize Dorries voice right away she used to be on another show I watched that Sam Hall would go onto destroy.

I don't recall seeing the gazebo before this. I wonder when it was built. It certainly survived in good shape.
Angelique casts spells in an evil manner unlike her nighttime counterpart Samantha. ABC Satan's network.

My favorite line so far is Angelique, "I make my own rules."
Another horrible wig on the skull.

I wish they had actually started this story out in Martinique or done a flashback where Barnabas first fell in love with Josette and gave into the temptation of Angelique.

I don't particularly care for the childish voice Nancy Barrett is using for Millicent. It sounds like the voice she used in the seance to pretend to be Sarah. The words and actions of the character reveal that she is a sheltered simple person.
Vickie thinks she is there to change things. but she doesnt realize that just her presence there has changed things. It would have been nice to have her realize this and think that perhaps she had already altered everything so that is why the history is unlike what had been before she entered the past.

Thayer David gives a near-perfect performance throughout this story line, even though he is forced to cut logs with an implausibly small hatchet
Very modern and looking similar to the one he was going to use to  hack Vickie's head off.

Volume 29 MPI VHS tape has a cover photo that will forever bring me back to my youth to the day finding the book The Phantom and Barnabas Collins at the tiny paperback bookstore in Asbury Park, New Jersey. I got all my M. Ross DS books there. Once a week it was the bookstore and the record store that I spent my allowance.
That conjures up the memory of my cousin and I passing one of those swilvel paperbck bookracks and seeing that book which he bought and we checked through the whole rack and found three more which I bought. When we got home my uncle said he couldn't buy anymore as at 25 cents they were too expensive. Fortunalty my mother never told me what I could spend my allowance on.

Vickie's reaction to everyone is really irking me. She shoud know by now that they all look like someone she knew. I did like how they had her meet Ben in the room where he tried to kill her.

I also thought the Ben/Angelique scenes were good.  I'd never seen this episode before as I only had some of the VhS tapes of 1795. It was the first one that I actually was into.

We are t old that time is suspended and its 1795. I guess they didn't want people to think that they were missing events in the present .
The chair in Barnabas' room is old and filthy looking even in 1795. The fabric on it always reminds me of a Julia coat.
So Angelique can't bring herself to dispose of Barnabas fearing of losing him.

We are told that time is suspended and it is 1795.  History was twisted to conceal. A convienant way to disregard what had gone on under previous writers. Vickie is surprised Josette resembles Maggie. She seemed to be expecting Josette to resemble herself.

There is a new player on the scene and her name is Angelique and no mention of her was made prior to this by anyone at Collinwood in the present time.  She arrives as the Countess' maid.  The Countess herself comes across as pompus. It is revealed that Josettes father is a sugar cane planter.

The voiceover tells us that time has stood still and that Vickie is trapped in the past even if she is unaware of what is going on the audience has been informed.  That the year is 1795 is staed again. I wonder what the original audience thought of what was going on? Were they confused as Vickie is?
I liked Vickie meeting Jeremiah at Collinwood, but all the time wanted it to be the real Burke  Vickie does realize that she has nowhere to go and knows nobody in a time when a single woman had few options.  The only thing familiar is a way is Collinwood.

A storm rages as Roger and Elizabeth discuss David. Julia states that Sarah is a ghost and proposes a seance and Barnabas objects. Julia reveals she has participated in a seance before.  They must be in an unbroken circle and think of Sarah.  Vickie appears out of it and when Carolyn fakes a trance she reveals that it is a lie and Vickie is possessed of Sarah.  She babbles, disappears and is gone replaced by Phyliss Wick and Vickie appears in the woods or is she in the spirit world with the dead.
