Samantha reveals she can't tell both at the same time so she tells Gerard first. She chooses him and reveals he is her first love so apparently she and Q were arraigned marriage. Gerard seems conflicted and Gabe comes in laughing. Samantha tells Q she wants freedom and happiness and it is revealed Q was unfaithful at least once four years ago. They argue over Tad and she reveals that Tad is not his child but provides no clue who is the father.
Suddenly there is a governess who was never mentioned prior to this. She is Hortense and is to secret Tad and his belongings to Rose Cottage. Q finds our via Gabe and kicks out the governess that one could care less about. Hortense finds the Zackary body and it's gets her. The body is not at all frightening.

Gerard wonders why Leticia cannot see who will Samantha choose.
Trask returns to get Leticia to help find the remains of Pa Trask.
Meanwhile Desmond finds a drunk to help him with the coffin. Tim the drunk takes the mask from Coffin. There is no head. Surprise! surprise!  The headless body emerges from the coffin.

Desmond is writing in a journal and just so there is no doubt that he is controlled by Judah, it says Journal of Judah Zackary on the front. I wonder when he had time to run out and find a printer in Collinsport to do this and said printer didn't have questions.
Leticia collapses at Rose cottage when she sees the head. She doesn't seem that delicate.
Barnabas and his great love Roxanne  are talking at Collinwood when Trask show up with a letter from 1797. Written Two years after his father's death. Trask has huge raccoon ghoulish eyes and there is no known reason to look this way. Supposedly he is just your normal undertaker. Trask is obsessed with finding his father's body. Meanwhile I notice that Roxanne has an extremely tiny waist.
Otis Green shows up and his grandfather was the executioner 200 years ago at Bedford. Bedford had witch trials.  Curse on the families. Desmond wants the body of Zackary. Clues are left by Otis who perishes of a heart attack when seeing the head. In truth Otis had a scarier head.

Desmond dreams of the head. Flora sees it and wants it gone. Flora is to reunite Q with Daniel tonight. This seems weird as Daniel seems wander about the house and surely someone would say Q is alive. Q is having Daniel moved into his old room. He has obviously been deranged since his wife died and maybe before, so why is he suddenly able to cope now?
Daniel talks to Desmond of the Bedford murders 20 decapitated. Desmond goes to the Star to find information and Daphne opens the door. This is surprising but seems pointless that she works there. It seems unlikely that they would hire a woman in 1840.
Desmond signs his name Judah and covers by saying it is a pen name. A dinner is planned with Flora, Desmond, Daphne and Q. She dramatically states she will meet the man she is going to kill. 

Q is alive and learns that Samantha married his good friend Gerard. Now on a regular Soap this would have taken a year to play out. Tad is also alive but being nursed in Boston. Q laughs over the marriage and reveals he tried to reach her by occult means. The Collins' marriage appears to be unhappy. He slept in the basement. Gerard seems anguished over not being with Samantha. Is it love or money? Samantha decides to go to Boston to be with her son.
Suddenly we see Barnabas at Ben's coffin and he wants to see the body. Trask refuses and I keep thinking why is Barnabas not using his powers to get his way. Lots of talk about their Papa's. Don't care, but probably for some future plot point.
Back at Collinwood. Samantha and Gerard talk. He will annul marriage. Samantha see's a figure at the window. Barnabas comes in and sees Q and calls out his name. What happened to the cunning Barnabas of 1967. He claims he saw a drawing of Q that Carrie made. We haven't seen Carrie in ages. Barnabas later see's Daphne in the woods.

  . Ben leaves Rose Cottage and in the woods cries out. Meanwhile, Gerard and Samantha talk of Roxanne who is now home. He gives her a present for her forgotten birthday and then Gabe rolls in and the exchange ends with a slap to Gabe from Samantha. Gerard tells Gabe that she will die tomorrow with a new poison.
Samantha finds Edith in the playroom and Edith is very shrewish and shrill. she couldn't wait to send her son off to boarding school. Edith goes to Gabe and is flinging her arms about dramatically. Whoever told or let the actress do this was just wrong. Edith later flirts and drinks with Gerard. He rejects her thankfully. Gave rolls on into,the now empty playroom as Samantha is moving on. This makes no sense in the previous storyline.
Gerard finds Ben's dead body and his face is not shown. Later we learn that they think Ben committed suicide by decapitation.
Gerard will take Samantha to town to die in front of witnesses. Then Gerard returns to tell Gave all went as planned and it happened at the courthouse. Samantha walks in and they are now Mr and Mrs Stiles. In the credits the head gets it's own billing.

Barnabas comes to and Julia holds a cross finally when she doesn't need it as it iis 1970 Barnabas, but soon realizes it is he. Roxanne awakens and cries for Barnabas to bite her, he refuses, and Julia will try to hypnotize her with her back up a crystal from the chandelier.
Barnabas introduces himself at Collinwood. We see mystery feet walking which turns out to be Desmond who is Flora's son. He frightens his mother and it would have been more interesting if he had arrived before the Barnabas switch so the audience could fear for Flora.
Desmond has brought back a human head to give to Q who he learns is dead. Flora hates the head and so do I I found this not at all interesting when I saw it originally. Samantha opens the door to Barnabas and It would have been interesting if KLS had played her. His two great loves as sisters.
A huge storm is brewing and Roxanne dissapears before Julia is sure she has erased her memory. Julia rushes to Collinwood with the news and greets her brother. Roxanne comes in and collapses saying she knows Barnabas. Julia reveals she is a doctor and nobody is surprised a woman in 1840 is a doctor.  Julia comes down and says she gave Roxanne a sedative, did she being pocketfuls from the future. Roxanne has no memory.
Suddenly we are at Rose cottage which is a reworking of Angelique's PT room and looks nothing like the the 1970 Rose Cottage which is a blessing. The head is there and it's eyes open. Too bad it wasn't the heD of Count Petofi. Oh, wait! They did that before.

Roxanne says she's never felt this way before. Moving on, Gabriel's wheelchair drives me crazy. First it looks just like the ones we used to race up and down the halls of the nursing home as kids. Now they were probably not the latest models but no way from 1840. The perfectly manufactured metal parts make it worse. Samantha and Gabe have a conversation and clearly they are at odds over the money which Samantha will get once Daniel dies. Gerard comes in and Samantha longs for Tad to be alive again. I'm guessing that she and Q were not happily married. When Gabe is alone with Gerard he calls him Mr Ivan Miller. He's had a sordid past and Gabe blackmails him. Gabe wants arsenic with questions. Apparently Daniel isn't the only one cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
Samantha goes to see Roxanne and the bedroom door opens out.
Gabe reveals the death will painfully slow and much suffering. Gerard will get 10% of the estate and deal is made as the victim is Samantha of course.
Barnabas calls Roxanne to the gazebo and she is willing to die for him. He bites her and says she will be dead tomorrow. I get a House of Dark Shadows vibe from the scene.
