The is a phone in the study which makes four phones on the first floor and none on the second. Mrs j 's cooking must really be terrible considering all the places Jason must have eaten in his travels.

I noticed on the slate that there were four  number 67's on the opening slate. Episode, year, tape and air dates. This Willie, terrible actor that he is, does seem dangerous. I keep thinking that he watched a James Dean movie and thought he could do that. How long have Jason and Willie been together? There's a feeling like they met in some Latin American prison cell and cooked up this scheme.  Willie just doesn't seem the type to be in on a scam where you need to have patience and a low profile.

Speaking of Matthew, I kept wondering why Elizabeth hadn't told him there is an old skeleton in the basement would you dig it up and get rid of it for me or at least do it herself  knowing that it would be likely Jason would be back.  I had issues with the sudden willingness for Burke to totally forgive so easily.  I liked that Roger was afraid his sister would send him away again and he said he didn't know where he would go or what he would do.  Burke did have a good line about people like you rot wherever they go.

We finally learn what happened to mrs. Evans and she to went to the great hospital in Boston, but her outcome was not triumphant as Elizabeth's.

Apparently Frank has disappeared after moving his practice to Collinsport and left Vickie without a word. Maybe everything surrounding Laura has developed a collective amnesia to the players.  Anyway Vickie seems to have reverted to her previous casual dating of Burke despite telling him she was done with him. Little Willie refers to himself in the third person which is never a good sign and wants to move to Collinwood.

Elizabeth catches Roger trying to break the lock on the basement room. She threatens to throw him out. They each accuse the other of having secrets.  Elizabeth is all in control of that situation, but with Jason she seems at a loss and now he wants money.

I wish Marmorstein had stayed on DS, the show was more grounded in the real world when he and Ron Sproat were the writers.

I never did understand why Sam Hall stated that he couldn't "even cue Grayson on his scripts" and that they were poorly written.
Well no one could write as well as Sam Hall according to Sam Hall.

Jason considers he is a guest, while Elizabeth considers he is an intruder. He reveals he is broke and wants her to buy him a wardrobe.  The town is already no doubt talking about the single man staying at the mansion and then charging a wardrobe to her account.  Mrs. J. Will be sure to tell no tales about that in town.  Jason reveals to Roger he has not seen his buddy Paul in 18 years.

Jason considers they are allies, not enemies.  Elizabeth doesn't have any friends. Only employees and of all those she feels she can only trust the orphaned governess, though I think Vickie has proved her loyalty to the family.

Vickie grills  mrs. Stood dared about the basement again and is asked to forget again. Will she? Vickie is suddenly curious at the diner when Jason brings up Paul Stoddard. So apparently she has not forgotten that there may be a connection with Paul and her missing background. Elizabeth loses her smile when she sees Jason.

If Elizabeth's great secret was that she was keeping a madman in her basement, I think he's probably a dead madman now.
I was thinking the same thing.  I also wondered why Vickie hadn't taken the chance to explore the basement freely while Mrs. Stoddard was gone.
Roger calls Carolyn kitten again after comparing her to her mother in earlier episodes.
Elizabeth makes Vickie promise to tell no one she was in the cellar apparently meaning that she does not want Roger or Carolyn to know. She must now believe that Vickie is trustworthy since she has dropped her quest into why she was hired and how.

I too was like, wow this is a fast story transition.  Laura gone and onto Jason.  I wonder if Portia is representative of the typical summer people of Collinsport. I'm guessing so.

David seems to know his mother is gone. Perhaps he is not too upset because she went to her storybook ending. I liked the line, "She was  Laura Murdoch Collins, whoever that was." It seemed to sum up the whole thing that no one was ever quite sure what was going on.

Elizabeth is thrashing around and screaming David and fire so it appears she has some link to  David that is provided by Josette maybe as she is the one seemingly keeping people informed of David's danger. Laura burns to Phoenix land in front of David.

Mrs j. If David went wirh his mother I'm afraid for him. Always the optimist and of course she lost him in the first place.  In watching these episodes, it seemed that they reused a lot of this material to the better in the upcoming storyline. I guess this was like the trial run.

No footage of  Laura getting on the bus, just the sound of it pulling away from the diner. They must have told Clairice to spend so many minutes searching the rather barren room for David and calling his name so that the time would equal a full show. It looked ridiculous.
