Carolyn concocts a fictional film noir story to charm the bedazzled lawyer and of course he falls for it.

A storm rages as Roger and Elizabeth discuss David. Julia states that Sarah is a ghost and proposes a seance and Barnabas objects. Julia reveals she has participated in a seance before.  They must be in an unbroken circle and think of Sarah.  Vickie appears out of it and when Carolyn fakes a trance she reveals that it is a lie and Vickie is possessed of Sarah.  She babbles, disappears and is gone replaced by Phyliss Wick and Vickie appears in the woods or is she in the spirit world with the dead.

Barnabas calls her My Dear Julia. I agree about the breaking into the safe. Barnabas can come and go as he wishes yet he mostly want his slaves to do his work for him. Tony appears to have Burkes room with I cant say new, but different furniture. Sarah fades away in front of David.

losts of work for the sound effects department today with sobbing and screeching in the mausoleum. Julia lights up during this time and smokes away to calm her nerves perhaps. So apparently the love of Barnabas has turned the formerly steely doctor into a quivering mass with no ability to use any of her training on herself.  Julia babbles at blood drips.  later at Collinwood, the lone doctor is subjected to banging doors and windows and a self playing grand piano.  Julia flees to her room instead of driving into town to have company. Julia has a phone in her room and how far have we come when everyone had to run down to the foyer to answer the phone.  And then there was more babblling.

The Maggie voiceover makes me wonder if we will ever see the coffee shop again.  Joe says you need the help of a ghost? I particulary liked that line.  When she does find Sarah, Julia wonders if she can trust Barnabas?

It is morning and Julia wants Mrs J to remove the lovely drapes.  Mrs J is rather perplexed and spills the beans that everyone things Julia is acting strange.  Julia babbles. Later the drapes are gone.
Carolyn works fast and is already dating and kissing Tony.  Now shouldnt Barnabas know she is doing his bidding and let her get on with seducing Tony.
Barnabas is meanwhile all dripping honey to Julia as he calls her and kisses her hand. She  vacillates between wanting to believe him and not.

now decides Barnabas, Julia must imagine things so people thing she is mad.  A so much better plan than to just kill her.  It looks like Julia has five garments in her closet and some appear to be nightgowns.  Then she spots the syringe.
Tony's voice is heard loudly over the phone. This is the first time I can recall hearing anyone talk through the phone without being seen.
Barnabas reveals he had a warlock friend who taught him powers.  So how much are his powers from his vamprisism or magic?  And why has he not been using them more.   He disappears and then appears in Julias room a dark figure with Dr. Dave's voice.  There is a bat at the window at the end of the scene so to make sure that we know its Barnabas and not really a vengful Dr. Dave.  I had remembered this as Dave's spirit being revived by Barnabas so it was a revelation to see that it was Barnabas in disguise

A strange character appears on the screen. Anthony Peterson. The grandfather clock in the foyer was made by Barnabas for Josette as a wedding present.  It seems like an odd present for someone you don't know and was supposed to be hated by the members of the family when she was brought home as the bride of Jeremiah.
Julias hysteria is fun. I always liked a hysterical Grayson Hall although from the interview on the DVD her husband did not. He is actualy quite humerous although I never cared for his writing.
Peterson grew up in Collinsport poor and envious of the Collins.  Seems as if he is a Burke replacemenmt in the Mitchell Ryan mold.
Now why cannot Barnabas just kill Tony and get the notebook?  Barnabas is so ready to kill off others. It would seem more torturous to Julia if he killed everyone who tried to help.
Julia says," That's a safe isn't it?" as if she had never seen one or knew what one looked like.
Carolyn arrives to work on Tony and it was implied by Barnabas that she should do whatever must with Tony to get the book.

That probably explains why we recently saw the windows overs the old house door that usually remain unseen in the tighter and lower angles that they usually have in the Old House scenes.

Of all the places to hide her diary, she picks a high traffic area.  The basement, west wing, or perhaps the library seem much safer.  I thought that the door to the clock was a recent addition.  The camera intrudes into the scene with Barnabas and Carolyn in the old house. Carolyn is to secretly watch Hoffman. Meanwhile in the Great House Julia tells Mrs. Stoddard she may leave in a week. Why not now?  Julia goes to the Old House in the storm and arrives with a noticably wet coat. Barnabas reveals he knows her plots against him.  Back at the Great House, Carolyn notices the clock has not chimed as somehow Julia has foolishly jammed the clock with her diary.

Julia is jealous and must be disposed of permanently.  The new writers seem to have come up with more ways to state it that person who is threat of the week must die!
Barnabas wants the notes and they have to be in Julia's rearranged room.  Carolyn finds the strongbox with the easy pick lock and it is empty.  Carolyn is caught but Julia realizes she will die.
I keep thinking that to keep herself occupied in the recluse years Elizabeth developed a thing for rearranging the furniture and Matthew earned his keep by willingly lugging things around for his mistress, but with Mrs. J. I can just hear the sighs as she does the heavy work.

Vickie is reluctant to go o the old house and it makes Carolyn suspicious of Julia. This is the first time I noticed the window also.

I got the idea that Katherine was Roger and Elizabeth's aunt.  We had to use Aunt and Uncle to close family friends also. Elizabeth and Roger notice Carolyn is acting strange.  Another hypnosis and Carolyn follows. Now the coffin which looks like the one Willie made for Maggie suddenly is back and supposedly for Vickie though no scene ever said it was. Where was this when the house was searched several episodes ago?

B&W again. Carolyn tells David he will be sent away to a home fore the mentally disturbed unless he stops the stories.  I don't quite get the continued hypnosis of Vickie. Isn't once enough as with Maggie? I guess it's just so Carolyn can get suspicious.  No news from Brazil yet.

Carolyn says she belongs in the old house and will never fail Barnabas.  She is the first victim we have seen who seems totally enthralled by him. Willie seemed to always argue and try to resist and Maggie was back and forth.  Carolyn can have eternal life.  Barnabas fears aging so ends the treatments.  I wonder why this area was never explored before.  New writers?  The plan is for Vickie all the way now.  Carolyn caressing her neck as she stares at Barnabas' picture leads one to wonder if she will become jealous of Vickie.
