The opening has lots of David and Hallie and the room and David not realizing Hallie is possesed by apparently a much younger child. Lots of costume changes as this goes from night to day. Julie has a great scene of putting on gloves. The episode has many about lilacs and Daphne so that we won't forget that if we see or smell them she is there. The night of the sun and the moon passed and nothing significant seems to have happened. Maybe that Q has become obsessed over Daphne?

Five years used to be the normal, but it doesn't really protect the actor as they can be fired at  every three months.

You all are making me want to watch the beginning episodes, which are my favorites again.

I agree,Uncle Roger, how many scenes do we need of this since this same thing happened a couple years ago with the children, although they seem like teens to me.
Julia's hair is really dark today and piled high. Q mentions the eclipse which is obviously the night of the sun and the moon, but it takes a while until the not always swift Barnabas figures it out making the others appear quite unaware.  The eclipse happens and the show ends with the door to the playroom opening again for the audience and full of little kids toys for teenagers. I can't  imagine if Denise Nickerson was still around that she would havie any interest in this stuff.

Hallie looks like Little Bo Peep in that dress. Just needs the crook and some sheep. David thinks it's crazy to think there are ghosts that from the boy who had alway's believed.
Elizabeth and Carolyn are  in vibrant colors talking  about horoscopes and being cynical.  Hallie now has the dream music and psychedelic colors resulting in dreaming of David in old clothes.
Carolyn goes to answer the door and of course it is the Jeb clone. He has the horoscope done.
The children go to the closet and hear the music from behind the wall even though it's been presented as a ghost of a room that never existed. They see Daphne who has this rather menacing  look about her.

Maggie enters Hallie's room and for some reason Hallie hides the dress. Who cares if she has an old dress. Maggie says to Elizabeth she hasn't seen Barnabas and makes it seem as if they were involved in a romance and I guess they were and Angelique tried steering her towards Q. Little does she know that her resemblance to Jos the is small potatoes compared to the great love Barnabas feels for his Roxanne.
Elizabeth makes an appointment over phonewith a Mr. shaw who we see is Jeb's image. Jeb is wearing a smocky looking tied dyed garment and the resemblance to the late son-in law is noted. Apparently they like Chris Pennock and he is certainly an upgrade over Roger Davis. He's an astrologer and it doesn't take much to connect to one of Crazt Carolyn's clues, but naturally Elizabeth doesn't. David dreams of the girl in the orange dress and later sees her at the Gazebo. I get the feeling that they want Kathy to play younger, but she has a bigger bust than many of the women on the show.

Carolyn cries over Jeb and it takes me a minute to remember she was married. David and Hallie talk and she feels watched as does Carolyn. The dream music plays and David sleeps fitfully seeing a carousel and Carrie.
Hallie has Amy's room and she finds old clothes on her bed. The Deja vu is setting in fast.

It's 1970 back in the present time or the past however you look at it. The girl who looks like Carrie is Hallie Stokes. Eliot is her uncle and Roeger is in Europe. The stairs has taken them back to the time they were fleeing PT. Q just saw the PT fire and Elizabeth is skeptical of 1995 even though there have been time travels to the past and PT.
they discover that Daphne Harrage was the governess in 1840. I feel another time travel and I prefer they stay in the present. Barnabas and Julia go to the graveyard and find Daphne dead 1841 and next to her dead Gerard Stilles also 1841. His tombstone says something about living in darkness.
Hallie says she gets strange feelings. I get the feeling that if Denise Nickerson hadn't just left there would be no Hallie.  The playroom is a closet now but it appears to the viewer.

Carrie's ghost seems to be acting independent of Gerard and against him. Barnabas is saved and find Julia and Gerard together and Julia does her babbling as no other. The suspense grows as Gerard wants Julia to kill herself which Barnabas stops and Gerard touches her and she falls. Carrie then creates a door in the wall of the playroom which seems to suggest she has powers. There are stairs and the lead out the playroom door into the hall which makes sense in the real architecture so the stairs and where it comes and goes much exist as a separate place that manifests itself. A girl who looks like Carrie but obviously isn't as she can speak is in the hall.

The body of Carolyn is gone. She did leave some clues to the disaster. The night of the sun and the moon, the night Rose Cottage burned, the unfinished horoscope, the night I sang my song, the murder and the picnic.
Which are apparently events that lead up to the disaster.
Barnabas wants to call the sheriff for a change. I would worry that they would think I killed her. Julia is reluctant but goes. Barnabas sees Gerard and then he and the sheriff find Carolyn in the playroom. Julia decides to stay at Collinwood alone. It is revealed Carolyn died of heart failure. Julia betrays Barnabas and the Sheriff is ready with the cross when he awakens. Now, why he didn't stake him remains a mystery.

Quentin seems to be as obsessed with Daphne as Barnabas is with Roxanne. The Colin's family history is suddenly on the floor of the drawing room, but as Barnabas finds it wind blows and the pages are torn from it. Barnabas goes to see Carolyn and she later decides to talk at Collinwood. This can't be good and it isn't Carolyn falls over dead in the drawing room at the desk.

Eliot is in the Old House when Barnabas arises and apparently he lied about being in Europe and not knowing anything  as he tried to exorcise the house so he knows there was a ghost. Julia see's a woman at Colinwood. The woman dissapears. Julia wants to go,back to own time, but how are they going back? Barnbas smells lilacs and sees a woman who says leave or she will die. The credits say Daphne. The name of Quentin friend.

The chandelier from the foyer is now hanging from something in the drawing room as the ceiling has collapsed.
David dissapears on them in the playroom. The room is said not to exist in 1970
Quentin is trapped in the house by Gerard and tormented while the chandelier falls near him revealing its purpose.
Barnabas and Julia see children. David and a blond girl. The music is back.
Now in the old house Quentin talks to the memory of Daphne. He reveals to Barnabas that they saw Tad not David.
The girl becomes Julia who seems to lose her common sense and goes alone to the house and playroom where she is trapped by Gerard. Lots of new mysteries revealed although the credits reveal the girl is named Carrie.

The playroom inside which looks nothing like the rest of the house has escaped any damage. There is a stained glass transom over the door which looks very 1960's in style. Carolyn calls to someone named Tad. Perhaps She thinks she is Mary Todd Linclon.
We learn from Stokes that Q is still alive, insane, unaged and escaped.
The Hall is changed outside the playroom. The wall that had a door now sports another stained glass window that looks more age appropriate than the doors. A clock sits near it.
There is a noise upstairs in the Old House and we see Q's portrait. It is a grotesque mess, but we know it is he, because it is painted on below on the canvas Quentin Collins 1897.  A wants to slash it, but is stopped and takes Barnabas and Julia to the playroom where David is seen as he was in 1970.

Finally Barnabas and Julia are at the Old House. The spirit is the very essence of evil.
Carolyn has a picture of Maggie and Quentin looking like a couple on a picnic. Mrs Johnson sees a shadow in the picture.
Mrs J is then in the Old House. How she knew they were now there is unknown. She talks about how there was so much joy and then on night the house was still and a room the children called the playroom. She sees gerard through the one uncovered window and flees. Barnabas and Julia find her dead eyes wide open. When Carolyn sees her Mrs J has a blinking eye problem.
Carolyn is opening a door that does not match any of the others in the house. It looks like a modern entrance door. One of the normal Collinwood doors is seen next to it in the hall which makes it more glaring. Carols doesn't seem to be taking her own advice to stay away from the house.
