Two diners in the diner.  Maggie might get some tips today.  For a much booze as Sam swills down, she needs to make good money.
Mitch Ryan reads almost every line off the telepromter. It's a good thing I wasn't DC as this would have been his last episode.
Maggie just takes off and leaves Carolyn in charge of the cafe.  Carolyn who earlier admited she could barely make tea.  I would have liked to see her waiting on customers and cooking and making change.  Well at least she has some job experience now for her resume.
Burke's unfinished painting looks like a monster head.  The sketch that Sam made was much better.

Vickie seems to be winning over David with her praise of his drawing, but victory is snatched from her when she foolishly mentioned she had shown it to the hated father.
David recieves a crystal ball from Burke ofall people.  I grew up living next door to a grandmother who was a fortune teller so getting a crystal ball doesn't seem unusual to me, but I believe it may have been in 1966.
Bill Malloy did not show up for work and he always shows of for work.  Not a good sign.  The crystal ball tells David that his father killed Bill Malloy.  Talk about giving the fortune that one wants to hear

I too, like when Elizabeth plays the piano.  This is an Art Wallace episode.   She confronts Roger and he lies like a rug about the trial.

Sam and Roger show up at the office.  Does Malloy really believe that Sam and Roger are going to confess and set themselves up to be sent to prison?  I'm sure Roger would call anything Sam may have said as the ravings of a drunken madman.
Considering his position at the plant, Malloy should be making a decent salary and easily afford the dollar and hour Mrs. Johnson is making, if that much.

The way Bill storms into Roger's office, makes quite a statement in how Bill views Roger in the whole scheme of things involving Collins business.  And it all leads up to plans for an 11 o'clock meeting in Roger's office.

Banker John states that Bill Malloy and Roger are not capable of running the business.  Burn! But Elizabeth has to approve everything so she is truly in charge, but not visiting the plant could lead to Roger running amok.  Then Ned calls and refuses to return without Elizabeth's agreement in marriage.  Apparently the show was too cheap to even hire an actor to appear on the other side of the line so we could at least see who had been turned down and in return turns down Elizabeth.
Elizabeth sets up a trust for David.  Wise move if something should happen to her, Roger would be sure to get David's money one way or another.
Bill calls Roger and forces a meeting or he's going to the police.

The day information came from an article about there being 52 days in the first year of the show.  I have them all written down for reference, but didn't want to get too far ahead.

Day four is episodes 38-47 day five is 48-52  and day six is  53-66.  Which gives new meaning to the term time standing still.

Maggie reveals that Sam sold paintings and got some money and then things went wrong.
Bill infers that he lost out to Elizabeth by waiting too long and someone else came along and won her presumably her husband, but if she had been interested in Bill in a romantic way, she would have had him.
Joe learns Carolyn had lunch with Burke and I say dump her Joe.  SHe is only trouble for you.

Sam wants to talk to Mrs. Stoddard and then after all is said and done he leaves without telling her anything except that her husband Paul wanted his painting done to go over the mantel as does Burke.
Burke calls Carolyn by Carolyn Collins Stoddard and then pretends to guess that's her middle name so that she won't realize he has files on her family.
Carolyn thinks it might seem improper to take the pen?  Yet it is okay to go up alone to a man's hotel and then to follow him to the next town so she can run into him and get herself invited to lunch.  Apparently having a mother who never leaves the estate and has no outside help coming in makes it easy for her run amouk outside of home.

Frances Swain is the credited writer and I noticed he included more backstory in his script than Art Wallace.
Roger calling Sam and then Sam putting the phone down while he rambles and then hangs up was a fun touch.
Sam becomes enraged at Maggies prying.  It appears that  Sam has reached a breaking point.

Carolyn plots to get Burke to take her to Bangor.  Apparently she likes the idea of people seeing her with Burke and going to Bangor must be a big deal in the relationship department.

I read "Dark Passages" last night and found it interesting enough to stay up an hour past my bedtime to finish it and believe me, I don't give up sleeptime lightly.  She defintely wins the contest of the Dark Shadows authors.  There were a few too many uneeded characters.  Just because it's based on her real life doesn't mean eveyone needs to be included particularly when it's obvious she's going for a sequel where she could introduce them later if they are that important.
I've heard her refer to her reel Pop in not so KLS terms before, but the fictional Pop description and actions were just too funny.

The bandage on Roger's forehead is gone revealing a Frankenstein's Monster look.  I think it's day four of Vickie's journey, so it's seems a bit premature to remove the bandage.
Burke comes for his sitting.  Roger and Sam's behavior drives me crazy.  Way to make Burke think that they are hiding something.
Elizabeth offers Ned a job and it is revealed her left a couple of months ago.  Was this why she let Roger return to Collinwood?
SHe offers him his old job.
Sam suddenly decides he needs protection and tells Roger he wrote a letter to be opened on his death.
Bill reveals his true feelings for his employer when he decides to throw Roger under the bus and help Burke get revenge as long as Elizabeth is spared.

Vickie is back in the basement.  She's as bad with the basement as Carolyn is with Burke.  Then Matthew appears and reveals that Mrs. Stoddard has the only key to the locked room.  Way to spill the beans and making Vickie wonder even more.  At least one of my questions has been answered.  There are pipes that carry heat thoughout the house, even though, the pipes are nowhere visable nor are the radiators.
The Hall table is shoved in the corner by the stairs.  For as heavy as this table appears, it moves around.  Matthew apparently had some time in between learning he caused Roger's car to crash and threatening to kill Burke to do some heavy work.
There is another room in the house called the Study that is being used, but is unseen.
Carolyn reveals she has heard the sobbing also and the Mrs. Stoddard offers up the key.  Vickie is suddenly no longer curious
