Barnabas' I Ching door opens on Julia Collins dead 1840. He can't go through and reveals to Stokes that Julia will be dead in 3 days.  They go to graveyard to find her next to Minerva Trask.
Back in 1840, Roxanne comes to Collinwood to visit her sister Samantha and mets Julia and introduces Lamar Trask who wants to marry Roxanne. Lamar is a mortician and a real prize as all the Trask men. He wants to wed Roxanne but she dislikes him. Barnabas watches her and this incarnation falls madly in love with her at first sight also. He approaches her on terrace and has to see her again. He then says he must stay away and can't. He will love her like no other and bites her neck. True love!

Gerard confronts Julia about the earring. He apparently searched her room offscreen. Why is he at Collinwood and in everyone's business? Julia gives the logical answer that it was in her room to begin with. She should have told him to get lost.
In the Old house, Josette's room is in ruins. Someone seems to have forgotten that her picture should be over the fireplace. Barnabas takes it down and turns it face to the wall contrary to everything that happened in 1967, he decides that he's done with Josette and it's time to move on.
Leticia is on with Gerard and he brought her to Collinwood. He reveals that he is money hungry.
The show returns to the present and Eliot and Barnabas are together. He got back from Europe too late. He came back for the funerals. Elizabeth is dead, though she was never seen. Eliot calls Hallie Carrie and shows no remorse that he left her to die at Collinwood. Barnabas Santa to follow Julia, but where and decides 1840 via the I Ching. Q is sent to Wyndciff, Carolyn to the beach for a vacation and Barnabas goes to his great loves chainless coffin to talk. I don't find Gerard interesting at all. Maybe it will get better.

Gabe tells Gerard that he is poor. He must then be mooching off his family. Why does he not have a job?
Julia foolishly unchains the coffin and Barnabas goes in for the kill. Ben walks in and stops it telling that is is 1840 and brings -1795 Barnabas up to speed on the family. Julia meanwhile flees and Barnabas goes for blood in the village supply. He stalks Samantha but she escaped
A man is seen to the right holds a script? While the Collins talk about the attack in the village. Apparently some time has past since Samantha was stalked. Julia arrives and says she is from PA and she is the daughter of the 1st Barnabas looking for her brother. Julia and Ben go to chain the coffin and of course it is gone. She returns to Collinwood and Gerard confronts her with the earring. Why he cares or that it is even his business is a mystery.

Daniel drags Julia in to the playroom. He calls her Harriet, his wife that clearly he killed. Ben calms him and takes him to his room. Julia lost an earring in the struggle and it is on the floor and Gabe finds it. Julia thinks Barnabas might use the I Ching to come find her. This assumes a lot that he is still in existence and that he wants to follow her or can.
Flora lives in Rose cottage and she is a flighty author of romance stories. Gerard comes in and Gabe shows him the earring. Gerard is clairvoyant.
Ben meanwhile has come up with a story that Julia is Barnabas's sister Julia Collins coming to meet him and she came to America ten years ago. She is to arrive at 8:30. I would have. Liked to see her say I think it would be better if I were his American fiancée. Gabe knows the story of Angelique being a witch contrary to all that has gone before that it was a covered up secret.  The we see Julia is not arriving and she is at the Mausoleum thinking the he is calling to her. She looks very attractive in her hooded cape. This just seems really stupid to come by herself and one can only hope she has a cross concealed in the cape.

Julia surmises that she is 1840 after seeing Carrie in the Hall. Gabriel Collins is being played by Chris Pennock and he already seems over the top in his acting. He is wheelchair bound and has struggles maneuvering. We learn Carrie is a guest in the house with her grandfather Ben. Julia is meanwhile eavesdropping on all the action and learns that Q has a wife Samantha and he and their son are dead. Ben is horribly aged and looks like he has a face full of tumors. It's only 40 years since he was Barnabas's servant, but maybe this is the the 1970's perception of someone over sixty.
Samantha Drew Collins is to get the all the money and she seems pleased. Gabe wants it and is trying to influence his father Daniel. Daniel is staying in the tower and we all know that means trouble and now he is missing. Julia is being strangled in the hall. Who can it be?

We learn in 1840 Gerard killed Q and then the children. Daphne in her old clothes puts flowers on the grave and Gerard comes for the teens. Barnabas and Julia dig up Q who is still alive. Zither teens meet Daphne in the tower and the death clothes are there. Gerard takes the flag and the ground shakes and dead arise. Gerard advances on the teens and Daphne and she dies in Q's arms. There is no bust on the railing as the ghouls storm Collinwood. Julia flees up the Satiarway through time that suddenly appears for her. Barnabas is grabbed by the ghouls. Julia come out into 1840 and sees Carrie.  The ghouls are destroying things that are obviously not Collinwood's furnishings. It looks like someone's garbage. A sheet is hanging from the ceiling and some debris falls from it. A flame appears in the left hand which doesn't make sense as in 1995 nothing appeared burned and pieces of furniture were amoung the debris. It was not as impressive as I'd remembered. On to the past already when the present is my favorite period. I feel like Maggie.

VO is Katheryn Leigh Scott so this must be her end. ( and it is). She says the teens have returned to the Old House on their own. Makes no sense as to why they would go there but we never see them anyway. Shaw is at Collinwood with Maggie who looks awful. Shaw wants to leave Collinwood with Maggie. When did they get to be great pals? Barnabas wants her at Wyndcliff. FRid is messing up his lines terribly and I'm distracted. Shaw says the destruction is tonight. Elizabeth is missing in action when she should be involved. I'd like to hear Mrs J say a few works of doom and gloom. Maggie and Shaw are in a sports car with top down gand she says she'll never see Collinwood or any of the people again. Julia hears a heartbeat and so does Barnabas and it comes from the hideous Q Painting  with the block letters and date on bottom so we know that this is Q. So if Q is immortal he really isn't in danger but they seem to forget that. Everything seems very rushed at the moment.

Gerard stops Shaw from killing Roxanne. I have no idea why? Daphne is staying in Josette's room. It is great to see it again. Daphne remembers Roxanne from her own time, but not much of course. Q and Daphne are leaving, but there is something in their drink and they collapse. Gerard is there. Daphne is found still alive, but Quentin is missing. Carolyn is dressed in black for a funeral. Gerard forces Q to dig a grave and buries him alive. The show is picking a lot in twenty some minutes and it seems a bit rushed in some aspects.

[bat7628] It's Roxanne!  Julia is reluctant to kill Roxanne knowing it's Barnabas' great love. She has her moved to the secret room off the drawing room in the Old House. Shaw discovers the missing coffin. Julia reveals the news to Barnabas. He foolishly opens the coffin and she tries to attack him. Julia wisely reminds him he barely knows her (or the other one for that matter). Barnabas decides to not let her out. Julia left though her coat remains on the coat rack. Shaw is hiding in the shadows and takes the stake and has a gun. The fact that Roxanne has been barely on the screen, makes me not care that she is in jeopardy. She doesn't seem very likable either despite the hero saying she is so fantastic. They did a good job with making the reveal a surprise. I recall being surprised when it was originally shown.

Mrs J's legs stick out from behind the wing chair in Vickie's room. Even if you didn't know Clairice was gone, you would know that these were some dummy legs. Maggie went through the secret panel. Why this was never thought of is beyond reason , but I'm not sure Maggie even knew about it, so how did she find out? Did the Vampire know?
Julia is grilling Carolyn about the teens.
Barnabas is screaming, Willie!" Up the stairs of the Old House. Makes it seem like old times.
Carolyn gives Willie a riddle to find Maggie and he does going through a cemetery with headstones blowing in the wind. The next scene is a transfusion. Things are moving faster.

I looked it up and she was playing on the Secret Storm at the same time. I remember this. It also said she signed a long term contract for Where the Heart Is before she left Dark Shadows.

The VO is Clairice so Mrs. J is on! [Evil_Pumpkins] I see this is her last episode.  She should have been used more in the series.  Barnabas suddenly decides to get Shaw to help even though he has refused all along. It turns out to be a plot ploy to get Barnabas and Roxanne to interact. He should seriously know by now that just because one looks like an old love does not mean they are. Mrs. j becomes Gerard's slave and goes to Maggie's room.  Julia leaves and goes to Rose Cottage where they are trappe in a fire. Why isn't Barnabas using his powers?  Then Roxanne suddenly show up to the rescue.  Mrs. J is on the floor and Maggie is going to the Vampire. I really don't understand why Barnabas isn't trying to find a way to get is "great love" from PT instead of some random stranger who he barely knows.  what about trying to find the stairway through time?

How is Daphne alive? Julia asks. Considering her prior interest in the subject, one would think that she would be interrogating and experimenting on her. Daphne agrees to go to the Old House. Julia wants Stokes to see the recalled to life Daphne, but he has gone to Europe telling no one even though he knows that was one of the clues.
Tad and Carrie, now suddenly out of their illness, decide to run far away. Good plan. Then the teens are in the crypt and she the vampire arise.
The long unseen medallion is back and hypnotizing Daphne. She is to be the murder victim from the clues. The green flag waved 3 times after Rose Cottage burns which is tonight. The episode didn't drag and at least it seemed they were getting somewhere. E joyed that there were several different sets.  [bat7628]

[Candle] [Candle] [Candle] [bat7628] they should know that the Vampire can control people and have more people watch Maggie.  Julia falls asleep and Q comes in. Maggie screaming does not wake Julia. Julia is finally using a sedative.
Julia returns from Wyndcliff revealing the teens are ill with a high fever.
Q goes to Rose cottage to see Daphne and Kate Jackson reads her lines off the TelePrompTer. Being a mute ghost was much easier it seems.
At Wyndcliff, Julia grills David in a room that looks Collinwoodlike and has the tiled fireplace in it.
Daphne now has Vickie's hairdo she gets Q to take her to Wyndcliff and David and she try to revive Gerard. Q tries to stall Julia, but she goes in and discovers Daphne. Pretty decent episode, but I really dislike this shrill all out Julia. She was much better when she was coyly coaxing info out of people and pretending all was okay.

I'm pretty sure Gerard's truck was a Willys. I wonder if they knew that when they wrote the script or got it to match the script?
