I must admit, though, that the blood looked like red paint! It wasn't very realistic looking.  [ghost_nowink]
I notice how fake the blood looks too.  I didn't in 1969 when we had a 20 inch console color T.V. that you had to adjust the color with several knobs every time you turned it on, so I'm guessing that it shows up better on a screen twice the size.

Grayson Hall's acting seems very subdued as compared to her reaction to Dave Woodard's death; perhaps, she wanted to keep her cool in the face of this enemy.
Quentin and Amanda reveal they love each other in what must be the quickest romance on DS not started while under a spell.  Then she says they can't be together presumably because she is not real.  I'm thinking there was a missed chance here to steal the story of the Velveteen Rabbit.  Quentin never knew what it was like to be in love?
In Tim's I Ching experience, the Devil's mask was really an effective prop and then for it to turn out to be Quentin to terrify Amanda.  They have improved since the original Dream Curse storyline.

Charity's make up is ever more garish as time goes on.  Tim seems to be the owner of the Blue Whale now.   It is interesting to see the two of them  as they are  as compared to where they started out.  Tim want's money from Edward. I  guess he can never have enough.
Kitty pretty's herself, as if a spider waiting for her prey, and her he comes.   Her husband is dead of suicide.  She was once a governess coming to a big house and now a widow coming to a big house with the same plan in mind to ensnare the master in her web, but really it's Judith's house and fortune.  Edward recoils from kissing her, but then places his hand on her later.  Barnabas would have been ready to elope by now.  Later Kitty is worried that Charity will know something about her.  What has she to hide?  Charity only seems to know that Josette's music box will cause her death.  There the music box appears.   The credits roll on Katherine Lee Scott.   I wonder why there have been so many errors lately?

It also seems that if the vampire on DS is attracted to someone or actually in love with the person, it makes them less able to resist taking blood.   Angelique seemed unable to resist her temptation for Barnabas even with threats from Nicholas.

Will Quentin think only of himself and betray Barnabas?   Will Barnabas think only of himself and give up his plans to save the family?   Barnabas reveals to Julia that all plans must change so he can spend every minute with Josette. How will he do this when he is a hunted Vampire?   Julia reminds him how his last plan with Josette went awry, but as usual when it comes to Josette or one of his other women, he can only think of himself.   I don't particularly like when the hero of the story has secret plans.  It puts a distance between him and the audience and how can a person root for something when they do not know what it is they are supposed to be rooting for.
Barnabas tells Quentin his plans for Lady Hampshire and appears oblivious to Quentin's tormented state.  It was what I had been thinking when Quentin called himself Judas.
It was quite like Julia was the much put upon wife when she says, " I've been through this before."   At least she realizes he will never forget Josette and always be hunting her.   Does she really think that sending Lady Hampshire away will stop Barnabas?
Charity is back and Quentin is drunk again.   He almost betrayed Barnabas to her, but then decides to do the deed himself and can't.   Crazy Charity stakes Barnabas herself and then fade to black with no credits.   What a cliffhanger!

Tate kills the creation and is disappears.  Tim comes up with some wild plot to create an army to serve Petofi, who is already Charles master.  If only it had taken this long to resolve the Adam storyline.
KLS returns looking more beautiful than ever and unlike Rachel seems to have an interesting past.  If KLS hadn't left the show, what would have happened to Rachel? and would there have been a Lady Hampshire?  Perhaps another take on a Dickens classic would have occured.  One can see where this is leading. Barnabas sees her is taken with her beauty and says he's found her again.  No mention of his recent fling with the last image of Josette.   She asks why Barnabas's portrait was moved and flashed on it and earlier she mentioned, "I decided to come home."  Maybe Barnabas is right this time. Petofi states, "Barnabas Collins must die!"  It was very chilling.   Once the Tate mess was out of the way, things started to pick up.

The creation cannot talk?  What about Amanda?   She never mentioned being unable to talk. (Of course we know that it's because of cheapness on the  production side)  Beth wanting to work for Petofi came out the blue, but then I began to realize it was part of a plan which no doubt will be ill conceived and turn out badly.  It was great when Tate wanted to marry Amanda and she reveals she hates him.  Now he plans to kill the poor creation, who is much more interesting than Tate.  I knew this had to be a Violet Wells episode and it was when the credits rolled.

Julia survives. Back in the day we thought that Grayson Hall had to be leaving the show.   At least for once, there is a plausible explanation as to why Julia survives.   Angelique is right. Barnabas has changed history so much that it will never be finished; and anyway, he can't possibly agree with anything that Julia might put forth.  I keep thinking how out of place Julia looks in 1897 even with her costume.  I guess it's her look with the hair and the earrings from my grandmother's jewelry  box.  Amanda suddenly comes to realization that she is unnatural and sheds some tears.  I wish she's quit reciting her lines like she is playing to the last row in the theatre.  I find the whole Tate thing incredibly boring.  It has to be his worst character or a toss up with Ned.  At least with Jeff/Peter, one had Alexandra, so it didn't seem so awful.

For having lived so long and supposedly having such knowledge; I find, Petofi to be incredibly stupid.  He has Julia who is from the future and he decides to kill her.  He decides to use the I Ching without researching how it works.  You expect that from Barnabas.  Where are his powers of coercion he uses on others?   He again remarks that Aristede is no intellectual giant, but perhaps he keeps him around to make himself seem intelligent.  Aristede must have some capacity to come up with the plan to kill Julia.

The most interesting thing at this point is Petofi endeavoring to work out how the I Ching works, and what he must do to go to the future.
It's been fourty years since I've seen these episodes; so, I'll have to see where it goes, but it seems to me that there is a lot of  laziness on the writer's part  in following what had gone before or ignoring it to fit the characters into the direction they want to go .  The only thing I remember about the Petofi storyline is that
He takes over Quentin's mind for a while
I was thinking that when Petofi told Quentin that he was his slave that many other people wished they could say the same thing.
Has Petofi thought this future thing through?  If he went there would he not be dead?  Why not go change the past so he could have escaped the werewolf curse and the gypsies all together.  How does he know he'll go to the right time anyway?
The I Ching need to be explained more as it to how get's people to the time they want.

And going back one episode, Aristede said that Petofi gave CDT his talent in exchange for his soul, though the Count's own time was nearly up.  So if he's mortal, how is it that he can take possession of a person's soul?
Honestly, is anybody buying any of this crap?
Not I.   I keep getting visions of  the 70's show set during the 60's with the writers on 60's drugs working on the scripts.   It seems that Petofi's story, powers, change daily.  I remember people saying they tuned out because they got so confused as to what was going on and I can see why now.

The dogs are howling.  I haven't heard them for a long time.  Great special effect as the werewolf head appears to Quentin.
Julia is still out of it and Barnabas decides she is caught between time.  Then David is dead and David is not in a coffin.  Were they afraid it would be too scarry to have David in a coffin and the children in the audience might freak?  David awakens as he should since Quentin is no longer dead.    Quentin gets a second chance at life?  How many has he had already?  Now Barnabas refuses to leave to save Chris.  At least he has figured out that Chris is Quentin's family.  I love Julia's oh! so true line, "I always lose with you."     The credits say Daniel Collins again.

Why not just leave Collinwood?  This whole episode make Quentin look like a dummy.  So now the storyline is shifting to Petofi trying to find out how Barnabas came to the past.   I noticed the credits say Pr. Stokes.

The I Ching helping Barnabas is an interesting concept.  Too bad the writers hadn't thought of it and had a scene at the beginning with Pr Stokes saying something to that effect.  It would make much more sense out of the Welles dreams.
