That's really quite funny, mio caro Misterioso.  I could have sworn those lines were in the film.  I probably *think* that they were because they were, no doubt, included in the "Marilyn Ross" novelization, which from what I can recall followed the complete script fairly closely, down to scenes such as the ones with the Marie Wallace character that were cut before filming even began...

Oh, yay!  "Mrs Johnson is a repressed hysteric."  Love it!

Thanks, MB, for pointing me here.

Current Talk '10 I / Julia's way with words
« on: January 07, 2010, 04:35:20 PM »
Dear fans,

once again, I've been looking around for the episode in which Julia exclaims to somebody or other some version of the line:  "Mrs. Johnson is a neurotic hysteric!"  I've been re-watching the Quentin haunting storyline shows (and how wonderfully done they were) and have seen some great scenes with Mrs J, including an episode with Harry #2 in which they are cleaning "Matthew Morgan's cottage" because "Tom Jennings" is about to move in--odd on two counts, first because Laura had been the previous occupant of that cottage but is never mentioned, not even by her own son, and two that Tom Jennings had been dead about three months at that point.  Anyhow, still no sign of Julia's reading of Mrs J's beads.

Anybody have a clue when and where this happened?

Thanks,

G.

My condolences, Anne.  Keep at it.

Thanks, MB!  Love the capture!

I have a vague memory of an endless compilation of trailers on one of the DVD sets... was this in 26?  I'll have to go look again.  They included some hysterical ones... I really want to see "Joe" after viewing the trailer.  It's on my Netflix queue!

I guess I missed any shots that might have been posted of Carlotta during the seance sequence in the NoDS series.  I realize, however, that you probably didn't have access to any shots of this sequence.

I just love the image you created for today's (Tuesday's) quote.  That's a beautiful capture from the trailer.

Happy 2010!

Best,

I'm afraid Joan Crawford (whose films I adore) would have been a disaster on DS.  If you've never seen it, catch the sequence in the Faye Dunaway classic Mommie Dearest in which they re-create Joan's attempt to replace daughter Christina on her own soap (can't recall which one it was at the moment) when Tina was sidelined due to an illness or surgery.  It's a hoot.

Apart from other considerations, "Miss C" always demanded that her sets be kept cold enough to double as meat lockers (apparently, she broke a sweat very easily when the temp rose, which wreaked havoc with all that makeup).  I doubt they would have been able to accommodate this, and her numerous other demands on DS.

Dear Cavada Humphrey.  It would have been so cool to have had Madam Findley return in the Leviathan period to lend a psychic hand--never having died in the first place because Quentin's ghost had never haunted Collinwood (even though that was not how they treated the "changing of history" on the series).

Thanks, MB, for this poignant, memorable shot!

Wow, I totally missed that detail about the location of Angelique's actual coffin.  I really need to re-read that screenplay.

Thanks, MB, for the clarification!

And if I fail to say it closer to the time, a very Merry Xmas to you and yours!

cheers,

G.

Forgive me if I'm fussing unduly, but today's quote implies that the funeral sequence Quentin "witnessed" from 1810 was Charles' funeral.  But, in a recent viewing of NoDS, I could swear that Strack was speaking of Angelique Collins, and glaring at Laura as she interrupted with derisive laughter (wonderful Diana Millay moment).

Did Sam Hall goof here?  It wouldn't be surprising given the number of revisions and just how quickly he had to throw the whole thing together... it is amazing that the resulting script is so good...

How very sad.  In another band of Parallel Time beyond the ones we were ever vouchsafed to see, I like to think of Vicki falling in love with and marrying Frank, who helps her discover the truth about her past--that she is really Elizabeth's daughter by a brief, passionate love affair with Betty Hanscombe's mysterious, ne'er-do-well brother...

Besides his work on DS, Conrad Fowkes, by all accounts, was a remarkable human being.  May he rest in peace.
