A date that will live in infamy:  April 2, 1971.

I remember this day well.  I was very upset by the final episode of DS. I had been waiting patiently every day since the end of 1840 for the series to return to 1971 and show what was happening to Barnabas and Julia.  At the end of the last episode, I realized I would never find out what their fate was and whether or not they would ever be married.

Finally in the autumn of that year, Sam Hall's article came out in TV Guide and did provide some closure for the fans. Although I hated that he killed off Roger and Chris in his projected finale.  Also thought that it made no sense that Quentin would wander off being obsessed with Daphne, since he would never have met her, given the way Barnabas and Julia had changed history.  Apparently there were plans discussed at one point to introduce Kate Jackson in the modern day storyline as a new governess named Tracey (the name of her character in NoDS).  Of course at that point, the children were really too old to require the attentions of a governess.

I think one of my faves is the look on his face he gets when he's about to turn Barnabas into "the Bat."  And that whole speech is just so deliriously edible.  Makes Ben and Jerry's look like, oh, I don't know, chopped liver???

Hey, maybe Elvis was really Count Petofi?  Would explain a LOT, starting with the hair grease, the fried banana sandwiches, and the vocal stylisations on "Suspicious Minds."

Yesterday (after a busy Saturday attending the latest Peace Rally on the Boston Common, followed up with a zine fair at the Mass. College of Art), I had a couch potato morning watching quite a few of the DS episodes that will be broadcast this week on Sci Fi.

One of my favorite moments was a pair of particularly juicy (almost, one might say, orgasmic) screams from Mr. Quentin Collins.

It reminded me of that "classic" ABC TV Movie of the Week, Scream, Pretty Peggy!  Only the title would have to be Scream, Pretty Quentin.  Such a pretty man, such a pretty mouth.

Hail the Lady, for such a snowy day, it sure is WARM in here.

I was surprised to see another fan mention all the fanfic about Charles.  First I'd ever heard of it.

I thought that signature was a hoot!  For some reason the sheer comic travesty of it all had not hit me before.

Also, I must be out of my mind, because I am sure this portrait is a copy, not the original.  I don't remember the trim of J's dress looking as if it had been ripped off in a bar fight, as is the case in this one.  I can see the scene now.  J-Co (sorry, can't resist) staggers into the Eagle having had just about as much as she can stand of Jeremiah's marital attentions.

Lorna Doone Bell, queen of the C'port doxies, spots J-Co, trying to sip a whisky in her wedding dress, screams "Whore!" and rips the trim.  J tries to grab Lorna's wig, makes a big swipe, misses and goes tumbling off the bar stool as the men of the Eagle watch the lady from the big house on the hill in mingled horror and amusement.

Goddess, where did THAT all come from?  I'd be curious whether others think the Josette portrait we're seeing now was a copy.  They could have decided to make it look more like KLS, if that was the case.

The girl in the picture looks a lot more like Maria Montez than Our Katie!
