That’s a great view on Burke’s morality dom.
I wouldn’t be surprised if your guess is right.

Your probably right dom about “In any other soap Liz and Roger would be unhappily married.”  It’s definitely more dynamic with them as brother and sister.

Lol even before I realized the reference ^_^

Victoria:  Elisabeth I was wondering if you could give me advice on how to clean blood stains?

Elisabeth:  Why would I know anything about that?!?  I  . . . uhm  . . . oh  . . . you’re talking about that!  Being a woman I should know about that  . . . Just die your panties red.  That’s what I did after letting most of the servants go.

Current Talk '24 I / SyFy TV Schedule and the Abandoned Quest
« on: September 15, 2022, 10:28:01 PM »
On a whim loosely inspired by an old thread on this forum and a question in the back of my head for a while I tried to find out what month I started watching Dark Shadows in college.  My first experience watching the original show on tv.

It’s crazy, but there’s still schedule info dating back to 1996 and even earlier.  Sometimes the schedule has episodes numbers too.

I can cross reference things with my memory and forum resources like the caption game page (nice for story and timeline info) and Robservstions.

But I’ve put way more time into this effort and it’s driving me nuts.

Not asking for help on my quest.  I know when story wise I started watching and about what year.

But if anyone needs this schedule info for there own quests here’s the link:

https://www.innermind.com/sfc/index.html

I’d suggest copying and pasting the schedule in something like Excel perhaps.
There’s a bunch of nifty tricks that can help process text.
Perhaps I can post more details if anyone is interested in those tricks.

Some pretty interesting insights and ideas in the 2011 Discussion of #58.

It put me on a tangent thought that I doubt the writers intended, but if I remember right high functioning autistic kids sometimes have trouble understanding other people’s feeling.  Though I imagine traumatized children could have similar problems.

I found the tide chart thing interesting.  Having David strive to learn about and apply his knowledge stand out as he’s rarely excited to learn regular school things.  I suppose he studied bleeder valves too.  It’s also interesting having so much focus on the tidal chart concept.  I’m not sure even CSI type shows spend as much time explain concepts like this.  It’s a lot of pictures and the vague gist of it and that’s often it.

Carolyn’s attitude about Joe helping with David with the charts is understandable, but also makes her seem pretty spoiled and / or bratty.

I appreciate how this (and other episodes) keep you guessing who (and sometimes if)  Murdered Bill.

Bill:  Because it’s funny!  I’m Bill get it?

welcome Bob_the_Bartender

If I have to I might fast forward some of the playroom scenes.
I did that for a few early parts of PT Dr. Longworth’s misadventures.
I did enjoy some of the later parts of that story and acting quite a bit though.

Good point about Dr. Hoffman’s doctor skills vs. psychiatrist that thought hasn’t really hit home for me until more recently since 1991 series Julia was some kind of blood expert.  And I’ve only gone through more detailed summaries of earlier Dark Shadows within two years or less.

And it’s interesting to think about magic having non magic consequences, but I’m pretty sure that thought was a misinterpretation of what you said about “ anxiety as a result of a witch’s curse”.

I really like that theory about time.
Particularly comforting for certain story lines.
