I don't think she was lying. I believe she was referring to Josette pointing her there and perhaps giving her some sort of indication that she was going to meet Barnabas, though not necessarily by mentioning Barnabas by name. I don't think she fully realized Barnabas was the one until after she actually met him.

i feel like bella/vicki was also the victim of some overzealous editing.

she only has maybe three or four major scenes before the big "josette" ending. for such a supposedly important character she gets short shrift in terms of screentime.

I totally agree. Because of the lack of Josette scenes the audience had a connection to Vicki and may have even been disappointed that Vicki was killed.

With Monday's box office bringing the current domestic gross up to $51,976,918, that means DS jumped up to #26 on the 2012 Yearly Domestic Grosses Chart. And considering that the 2012 portion of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's gross, which stands at $52,177,103, is currently #25, that means DS will in all likelihood reach the Top 25 with Tuesday's box office, which I was happy to contribute to today.

For all DVD and Blu Ray fans. I just read on Blu Ray .com that Avengers will be out on Blu and DVD on Sept 25. Hopefully, Dark Shadows will not be far behind, and perhaps a release date for House and Restored Night. Lets keep hoping.

I don't know - basing so much of the review on the notion that the horror (and a horror for all the wrong reasons) that is hoDS is an accurate distillation of the original series is disingenuous at best, if not outright ridiculous. Frankly I'm thrilled that the new film is so far removed from hoDS because the last thing we needed was another hoDS rehash.    And she's kidding herself if she thinks hoDS was beloved in its time and it's only with the passage of time that it can be looked upon as flawed.

Also, apart from her hoDS comparisons, she faults the new film's sex scene between Barn and Ang as something that he instantly regrets and will therefore try to treat as if it never happened. Well, can't the same be said for the implied sex scene between Barn and Ang on the original show when she first arrived at Collinwood in 1795 as well as the depicted sex scene between them under similar circumstances in the '91 DS? Depicting the aftermath that way is actually perfectly in keeping with what had come before. So, if she wants to fault the film's aftermath of the sex scene, she should also be faulting that aspect of the original and '91 shows, too.

boxoffice.com is reporting the Tuesday box office numbers.  Like last week, the number is slightly up on Tuesday:  $1,303,235, for a domestic total of $53,280,153.  DS has now officially overtaken Depp's films Finding Neverland, Sweeney Todd and Blow, and has only ~$70,000 more to go to overtake Corpse Bride.

I didn't get the chance to check out the fxguide.com article until a short while ago. What a fascinating article - and the videos showing how certain sequences were put together are fantastic. Thanks so much for posting the link, jimbo.
