Depp/Burton DARK SHADOWS Is In Release!!

Eva Green was on ES.TV promoting 300: Rise of an Empire, and while describing her character she said "She's irreverent. You know, she can't be bothered, you know, by people not capable or morons. You know, she's just this 'off with his head,' you know, there's no conscience. She kind of a psychopath. And she's so crazy that she kind of becomes fun to play, that kind of, you know, character really."

Sound like, you know, any other character we may have, you know, seen her play? And, you know, now we kind of know why she kind of enjoys playing that kind of character. You know. Really. 

But seriously, quite obviously she loves playing characters like Angelique in the Depp/DS film. And honestly, from an acting perspective what wouldn't be fun about playing them - they have to be a hoot and a half!

I saw the movie and thought she acted very much like angelique minus having supernatural powers.

She acts like a 1970's women in a 2000 year old period story?

That's too bad. I'd hoped she had more depth/a wider scope as an actress.

Trust me, she does. I've seen her as several characters that are nothing like Angelique. But she does love psychopaths.

I'm thinking a link was previously posted at some point. I know I've read it before. And as before, I have a hard time accepting much of what he says - and that doesn't simply relate to what he says about the Depp/DS film. For one, I thoroughly reject his attitude towards NoDS. It's extremely hard to take serious anything anyone says who can't even begin to appreciate the least little bit of just how wonderful much of that film is. But this isn't an NoDS topic, so I'll leave it at that, as I did last time around...

I finally found it, the Carpenters performance that Barnabas and Carolyn watched on TV on DS12, singing Top of the World.  For Barnabas, it was a confusing understanding of the future.  For many of us here, it's a wonderful return to the past, when TV sets were bit, boxy things with knobs, three clear channels (six-or-so with a rodor attached to an antennae if the weather was fine), phonographs with automatic drop-arms and spindles for '45's.  What a wonderful world that was.  It may not seem like that to our more "yungins" here, but it was.  Cable was a rarity and only for either most wealthy or for those isolated in values where high hills blocked reception.  Only the "fancy people" (as my dad called them) had color TV.  Most home radios had only AM.  So, in honor of 1972, and DS12, and us old fogeys, here are the Carpenters from DS12:

Thanks Gerard, that was sweet.  RIP Karen, one of the most distinctive voices of her generation.  I was one of the households with a black and white TV, and I used to try to get invited to my friend Patty's house to watch DS in color!
