Today as I was thinking about the painting with Charles, something I've very rarely ever thought about, I began wondering if Charles included his horse Dubloon (at least, presumably it's Dubloon) because, with the exception of Angelique, Dubloon was the only other living thing that Charles cared for/loved? And that would be particularly interesting if the painting the Jenkins come across is a self-portrait.

(Click here for a 818X706 version)

And if that is the case, it could make one wonder if there wasn't more to Gabriel having Dubloon killed after Charles is sealed in the basement room? Could Gabriel have had more motive than the fact that Dubloon was involved in Strack's death? Previously I've question if that was simply Gabriel's motive. But might it have been far more personal for Gabriel, like he felt Charles cared for/loved his horse more than he did his own brother? I mean, if you care for/love your brother, do you have an affair with his wife? Not likely. So maybe Gabriel's ultimate revenge against Charles simply had to include dispatching of Dubloon as well because Gabriel was just that insanely jealous. It's too bad at this point that, if Chris Pennock ever gave any analysis as to justify why Gabriel had Dubloon killed, we can no longer ask him what might have been his conclusion...

And while we're on the subject of things I never wondered about before, I didn't really notice until today that Claire has made five sandwiches for herself and Alex (or at least I hope they're not all for Alex).

Aren't five sandwiches a bit much for two people? And especially at two in the morning? But then, maybe driving from NY to Collinwood works up a big appetite.  [easter_cheesy]  But it's enough to make one wonder just how many sandwiches did Claire make when she made lunch for herself, Alex and Quentin on his first day at Collinwood, especially when both Alex and Quentin ordered a ham sandwich and a tuna sandwich? Unfortuantely, though, the tray Claire brings back isn't shot close enough or from a good angle to see how many sandwiches are on it.

I suppose that Alex and Claire could have stopped at the Howard Johnson's on the Maine Turnpike or whatever restaurant was open 24/7 but I guess that they didn't. Perhaps Alex was in a hurry to get back because there was liquor available at home.

You could be on to something there!  [easter_wink] [easter_cheesy]

If you want to learn about or refresh your memory concerning the background of yesterday's quote -

Page 81/Scene 174 - Alex: 'I've got to break through to him. If I can only get him to admit that it has to be at least more than a coincidence...we've got a shot.'

- and/or today's quote -

Page 82/Scene 174 - Claire (O.S.): 'Well, it'll have to wait until morning.'

- check out -

Wrapping up Scene 174, beginning with yesterday's quote, Alex' reply to Claire -

- this post and to learn about differences in the dialogue, the descriptions and the directions...

If you want to learn about or refresh your memory concerning the background of the first part of today's quote -

Page 83/Scene 177 - Claire: 'Alex! Oh, my God, Alex!'

- and/or the second part of today's quote -

Page 83/Scene 177 - Claire (sobbing hysterically): 'Alex! -- oh, Alex! ... Please be all right!...oh, Alex...'

- check out -

Moving through the next three scenes as scripted:

- this post and to learn how things were scripted very differently from how they play in the film...

If you want to learn about the many differences in Scene 177, check out -

As far as the differences in the dialogue go, Claire actually wakes up in what I suppose we could say is a Scene 176A in the film and, unscripted, she calls out -

- this post...

Here's the first of two stills I want to share for Scene 177 -

(Click here for a 700X476 version)

- and a somewhat cropped version appears on page 182 of the DS Movie Book.

And here's a rare still for Scene 177 -

(Click here for a 946X700 version)

- though it seems like it might have been published somewhere because this version has shown up on the Internet -

- however, no one has ever cited a source.

If you want to learn about or refresh your memory concerning the background of today's quote -

Page 84/Scene 180 - Tracy (trance-like): 'I won't let you have him... I won't.'

- check out -

And now the next three scenes:

- this post and to learn about how it's very hard to know what might have been different because so little of the sequence survives in any version of the film. And ignore that it says "yesterday's quote."

As I have with other GIFs, I've made videos of the GIFs I'd originally made of the dream sequence footage from the NoDS trailers.

First up, the clip that shows the least amount of footage:

And the longest version, which also has much better color quality:

It's just too bad that it has the NoDS logo over most of it...

Here's the first of two stills I want to share for Scene 179:

First, a rare B&W still -

- which was shared on page 176 of DS Memories.

And here's another B&W still -

- which I first came across a somewhat cropped version as part of an article entitled NOSTALGIA BONUS Remember When Dark Shadows Kept You Glued To The Set from the June 1974 issue of Weekday TV (which, quite interestingly, had sections devoted to the daytime show and NoDS, but nothing from hoDS). And a much more cropped version also appears on page 9 of the booklet for the movies soundtrack.

Several color stills that I'd previously shared:

...

Plus, we're also very lucky to have stills from the dream:

...

(There are also other color stills of the dream, two of which feature Angelique and Quentin, on page 183 of the PomPress book Return to Collinwood, and I'd be happy to also scan those for anyone who hasn't seen them.)

By request:

Enjoy!

And something supposedly behind the scenes from the shooting of the dream:

The 16 Spec caption for it reads: 'In his present life, "Quentin Collins" (David Selby) is beset by visions
of a former life as "Charles Collins", and a former love--the wicked
temptress "Angelique" (Lara Parker). Here, in one of his visions, the
couple enjoy a very private picnic.'

To my knowledge the only time this has been officially published was as part of a 16 Spec preview of NoDS. And I've mentioned this before, but am I the only one who thinks it looks like Angelique doesn't have any ankles/feet?!

Also, is that the same fruit bowl from this behind the scenes in the tower?

And now we move from stills depicting the scene to stills from behind the scenes to preview Scene 85:

(Click here for a 1000X779 version)
(Keep the fruit bowl in mind...)

...

If so, it definitely got around.  [easter_wink] [easter_cheesy]

If you want to learn about or refresh your memory concerning the background of yesterday's quote -

Page 84/Scene 181 - Claire: 'It was the most frightening thing I've ever seen.'

- and/or today's first quote -

Page 84/Scene 181 - Alex: 'Claire...I want you to take the car and get out of here now.'

- and/or today's second quote -

Page 84/Scene 181 - Claire: 'No -- I won't leave you!'

- check out -

Finally the beginning of the current scene:

- this post and because this scene doesn't appear in any version of the film, we'll never know if there were any differences...

Graphics appearing in the slideshow recently -

- and continuing through Tuesday the 17th have been made using different crops of this -

(Click here for a 800X527 version)

- which was shared in the 1992 LA Halloween Fest Program...
